Source: WR Cooper Kupp to join Seahawks on 3-year deal

Former Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp has reached agreement on a three-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday.
Kupp was released by the Los Angeles Rams at the start of the new league year Wednesday, ending his eight-season run with the team.
He joined the Rams as a third-round pick in 2017 out of Eastern Washington, as part of Sean McVay's first draft class, and emerged as one of the game's best pass-catchers from the slot in the years since.
He had 62 receptions as a rookie, then topped 90 in both his third and fourth seasons.
But his best season came in 2021, when he won the receiving triple crown by leading the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16). He made his only Pro Bowl and was named the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year.
Kupp capped that season with eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the Rams' Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals, which earned him the game's MVP award.
After the season, Kupp signed a three-year contract extension worth $80.1 million.
But Kupp has dealt with injuries in the three seasons since, playing in just 33 games. In 12 games during the 2024 season, Kupp had 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns.
After the season, Kupp announced that the Rams were trying to trade him despite his desire to remain with the team. But with him being owed $20 million this season, no other team was willing to make a trade, leading to his release.
For his career, Kupp has 634 receptions for 7,776 receiving yards and 58 total touchdowns (57 receiving).
ESPN's Sarah Barshop contributed to this report.

This is why you don't get married to a player.

And you guys realize other teams can read our board right?
I've never given a flying fuck what anyone thinks about anything I say or do, let alone what fans of shit ass teams think. What a stupid thing to point out in this conversation.

And as to caring about players, I'm not a computer. So the guys who lay it all on the line for the team and who make a difference over time, when they inevitably depart, I always feel that. And I wouldn't want to not feel it. But hey you keep doing you.

Yes yes, we might as well place our SB bets now. Sheattle gonna run da west.

Coop already told us he was "coming for it all".

I am sure the Rams and the rest of the league have all but pissed their pants.

They need to do what is best for them and their families.
This is the way I see it.
To think a player would pick getting back at his old team over his own happiness and his families happiness and well being is a bit of a reach to me, probably more of a fan thing than a player thing in this case. No good man does that and by all accounts Kupp is a good man.

When I read the Cowboys were in the mix yesterday I cringed a little—kind of relieved it didn’t go that way, for myself and for Kupp’s sake.
I think I would have lost some respect for him if he went to the cowboys. As it stands now I am happy he found a team that paid him well. Go Rams

IMO Getting back at your previous team is likely criteria #20 in a list of 20 regarding the decision on where to next sign. However, I do see it being motivation to do well in any game(s) against your previous team.

The question looms, did the Seahawks improve their team? Is Kupp better than Metcalf? Is Darnold a major upgrade over Geno Smith? Will new OC Klint Kubiak be a better play caller then Ryan Grubb? IMHO, I believe the Seahawks have taken 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.

That’s what it appears to me.

I wonder if they go offensive weapon round 1 to give Darnold a good shot. Either that or oline?

Sure seems like a lot of teams still need oline help in the draft where at least blue chip help isn't readily available.

I never personally said that was the main factor, only that a played a role. If Dallas and Seahawks offers were pretty close he could have been like I'm closer to home, I still get paid, and I get to show the Rams I'm not done yet. He's a competitor, that last part has shit to do with being a good man. To me, most athletes are just that competitive by nature. Why else do most athletes play their asses off and have great games against their former teams?

I love Kupp. He was absolutely uncoverable at his peak. I also firmly believe that if he was available to play for the 2018 Super Bowl we win that one.

I have only bought three jerseys in my life - Eric Dickerson, Marshall Faulk and Cooper Kupp.

I don't blame him for going home. He wanted to stay - the Rams cut him. I think the only thing I couldn't have handled was him going to the Niners.

I will vote for his new team to lose every game they play. But I'll always be pulling for Kupp to do well. Just not well enough to make the Hags win.

They play their asses off because like you say they are competitors, as far as having great games, sometimes yes sometimes no. Sure you have extra motivation if you feel you were disrespected, but that's not always the case

Promoting personal happiness and being family first are traits of a good person.

It's all good just my thoughts, the situation sucks. Coop was more than a player here so it really hurts. He was like AD the glue and everything that is right with our team.
I will be bummed for awhile

I’m glad Kupp got a big contract.

Hope I’m wrong but I doubt he’s ever the dominant WR he once was.

Honestly I'm not mad at Kupp for feeling disrespected hence why I say a lot a little respect with an lol at the end. I think people totally dismissing an opportunity to prove the Rams wrong didn't help out a bit are tripping. Was it the main reason to sign with Seattle, of course not, but even Kupp would know signing with a division rival is usually a big ass no no. Since he did, in the nicest way possible, fuck him and his team lol. Once he's done being a temporary butt wipe, we'll be here with open wipes.
