Listening to Stafford today I guess Coop is gone so to where? The Rams told Kupp they would work to get him a deal with playoff potential and would be a good fit for him and his family.

It wouldn’t be the worst idea to trade them both as a package deal and get one good piece(or pick) in return. Would it? Steelers?

I prefer to keep Stafford btw

I would prefer he goes to the Bills or the Ravens, because then he goes to a legit contender and he's out of the conference, so the only way he can adversely affect our postseason fortunes is in the Super Bowl.

Imagine him playing for the 49ers! At close to the vet minimum because we are paying his wages! I would guess they want to place him in the AFC at least I hope they do…
Unless they think he can't play at all anymore, I don't see them moving to an NFC contender.

Colin Cowherd has said that Kupp will be cut.
Quite possible. After hearing that the teams who were interested before the deadline are no longer interested, I'm thinking that will be the case. Why give up assets and assume that contract when you can just wait for him to be cut? And sign him for a lot less.

I think that's the most likely scenario. The Rams save 2.5 mill off the dead cap if they pull the trigger before his bonus is due, and Cooper can start fresh with a team of his choice on a cheap prove it deal.

Why ? Because you’re assured to sign him. My question to you would be when would The Rams cut him & do you actually believe what you posted ?

What’s the total cost of cutting him ?? Just asking because emotionally is new season.

The Rams end up offering him a restructure or release. No team wants that contract and they don't want to give up picks.

Kupp does his contract over and stays
It would probably be a release then. From what I recall, the only contracts the Rams restructure are ones that they feel have a future with the team.

Or are you referring to a pay cut? Because if so, why would Kupp agree to that?

This has been repeated over and over.
They cut him now, it’s a 22+ mill dead cap hit.
If cut after the roster bonus Is due, it’s 24+ mill

Unfortunately as much as I disagree with Colin on a daily basis he's probably right about this. If Kupp was to be traded the Rams would have to pick up a portion of his salary for 2025 and probably a large portion of it. Teams aren't going to give up a pick for a player who might have a couple more decent years in him, and that's being kind. Father time is undefeated and Kupp plays a physical style of football that's taken a toll on his body. He's also been injured every season for the last 3 or 4 seasons. All of this doesn't help the Rams, it actually hurts them. So I don't know who's gonna bite on Kupp but if they do the Rams would have to consider themselves lucky if it does happen. If the Rams were smart they would have had a trade worked out previously to meeting with Kupp for negotiations.

I'm going to be even more devastated if he is just cut. We eat more salary and get literally nothing in return. I was at least expecting cap relief and maybe a 7th. This is BS. Very much wish we could agree to restructure the deal and keep him. He's not going to get more on the market IMO.

If it’s a cut then he’s a free agent and may just decide to stay with the Rams for less. So I guess that’s a pay cut/new contract.

It’s tough to predict. If he wants a shot at winning, the Rams give him that and he’s comfortable there with McVay. However, he could be upset and wounded and think screw you guys. He seems more rational than that though.

So, if he’s looking for longevity he’s going to be going to a receiver needy team that isn’t likely ready to win now. Which could end up being a 2-3 year contract and being cut again before it’s expired.

Maybe the Rams don’t even offer him any contracts if he’s cut. But, of all the players he’d certainly offer something by being on the roster even as a non starter.
