Very true.Well, Snead tends to do two things in a draft. One, he likes to carpet bomb need positions. Two, he tends to target areas a year in advance.

I don't know about releasing him because he can still be effective at times, but I don't get how he went from something like the 2nd rated CB in the NFL to what we saw last season. He seemed to be out of position A LOT. I really had high hopes about his return. Hopefully he can get his shit together this season.FWIW, I have recently rewatched last year’s games and highlights. I was surprised to see how poorly DW played down the stretch. He is still a willing and solid tackler, but he was getting torched in coverage. He’s not as safe as some would suggest.
Maybe one of our cap specialists can cite the numbers should he get released.

Correct and there are some incentives listed on spotrac.Per OTC ... ZERO savings ... not a penny.
Would actually cost the Rams MORE money against their 2025 cap.
So you're saying we should cut his ass. Got it.Per OTC ... ZERO savings ... not a penny.

If Williams is as bad as some think (I don’t agree), it would be cheaper (against the cap) to carry him on the 53 all season and have him a game-day inactive every week.So you're saying we should cut his ass. Got it.
Corner is the most volatile position year to year in the NFL. It's why you see veteran guys getting cut and able to stack one or two good to very good years after a bad outing on their original team cause so many things can affect them from injuries, pass rush, different coverage calls, attempts against, chance, etc....I don't know about releasing him because he can still be effective at times, but I don't get how he went from something like the 2nd rated CB in the NFL to what we saw last season. Lot of fans look at this and say we've got plenty of talent in the room.Rams CBs under contract (* IMO locked into roster this year):
DWill*
Spoon*
Durant*
Forbes
Kendrick
Lampkin
Green
Rams usually keep 5 CBs on 53 man roster and a couple on PS. So plenty of room for improvements. It’s possible Rams are good with Forbes/Kendrick as 4/5 on roster but I think they use R3 to bump them down.
Yep - quantity, but not much quality.I look at this and say, what an indictment of the talent at CB.

I didn’t list NBs but point taken they are DBs.Forgot Josh Wallace and Charles Woods; they’re under contract as well, and while they may not move the needle much, they had a few times where they took snaps on defense, especially Wallace.
There is something called practice team. Some draft picks end up there. Nothing wrong with taking a 2nd CB as a development type. Besides, who's to say we don't hit on a late pick. The Rams FO has been doing great there lately.I agree with you that they'll be looking to add secondary players because so many are signed for 1 more year. And I agree that all of our starters are merely average.
But you're being super optimistic that a 3rd could immediately become CB1 or that a later pick would immediately upgrade just about everyone else. Any 3rd round or later rookie is unlikely to start in year 1. Our best chance of having an immediate or year 1 upgrade is pick 26 or something near that. That's it. In my very humble opinion.
You're not the only, I actually get it and agree with that approach if it happens.Irrelevant, we have a DB room that is full of average and a lot of it is heading to free agency. I totally get draft picks being spent on the secondary. Our top 2 defenders on snap count are both free agents after this season. Williams Durant and Witherspoon are all pending free agents. It makes sense to draft DBs.
I don't know how many will be spent there but I get it. Since I seem to be the only one thinking this I'll drop it. Don't want some random guy claiming I'm being a know it all when I'm just stating a possible draft scenario and explaining/defending my thoughts.
I'll say it should happen lolI don't think I said it can't happen. I said I don't think it will, and I don't think we should. I will happily admit if I end up being wrong.
I say 2 CBs and then they turn around and trade Kendrick for a 27' 7thDefinitely agree with the second tendency which is why I expect some secondary to be drafted.
He carpet bombs sometimes but they already have so many bodies at CB that I can't see him doing it this year at that position. My guess (since that's what we're all doing) is one CB and one Safety.
I'll take a used washer for KendrickI say 2 CBs and then they turn around and trade Kendrick for a 27' 7th
