I used to back in the 90's , anyone here remember those days

before the internet ?

I'd pick up a copy of the Sporting News and USA Today , Draft Coverage Special

they would have their mock draft and list of the top 300 players

rounds 1 - 3 were still on Saturday

I would stop and pick up my beverage and snacks of choice , my yellow highlighter

and would be glued to ESPN from like 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM . or whatever it was , marking off each player as their name was called , to see who was left when it was the Rams choice

Absolutely. Good times.

I was always hungover, but I got my ass up for the all morning all day draft. Sleep be damned.

I just don't get that excited about the draft anymore
I’m always interested. But my anniversary is April 25th, so for the last 37 years, it has pretty much taken a back seat. I wasn’t ever really into watching the whole thing anyway. Maybe the first few picks and then trying to catch the Rams pick.

I enjoy watching the 1st night. They've really made that night MUST SEE TV. After the first night I just check on our selections as they pop up on my phone.

My real enjoyment comes from knowing who our picks actually are. The picks give us a little peek inside the playbook of our decision makers. Nobody is going to gain any real info from our "PRO EXPERT TALKER that says many many words without saying anything" - Les. I'm glad that we took a 180° turn from a franchise that let's secrets out because it's leaking... to one that is able to keep it's business IN HOUSE. The best ones always do. That happened once McVay and Les teamed up.

My enjoyment of the draft is mostly just a paradox, I "think" it was more enjoyable "back in the day" when the 1st 3 rounds were on a Saturday, but the reality is that the Rams were routinely drafting in the top 5-10 so it was much more captivating. I dont care so much about the draft when the Rams dont have a 1st round pick/dont pick until real late

It's the lifeblood of the team so I've never really dropped off on enjoying it every year. Only thing I hate is having it as late in the spring as it is now. It was so much better before they moved it back.

I watch the first two nights religiously. I also wake up on day 3 intending to watch it all, but always cut the lawn and check on the ticker every so often and when the Rams pick is coming up, I'll watch.

I love watching the draft.

I don’t get to watch much college football.
My Saturdays are usually filled with youth sports with my kids.

To me, draft day is usually the first look I get, regarding the players we’ve picked.

This year is especially important imo.
I highly doubt we go three more years without taking our future starting QB prospect.

Do we pull the trigger this year, or stock up for next year?

I love the draft.

I'm hoping we only draft players that can contribute to a super bowl year this coming season. We got a qb right now in Stafford. I say take advantage of that and deal with the quarterback of the future later. THE FUTURE IS NOW! (LOL)

I think that was Scott Linehan and the Brilliant front office led by John Shaw and Jay Zygmunt.
Regardless, I still remember that pick as a real WTF moment in Rams draft history. I’m sure there were others but that one has always stuck in my brain.

No, you can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime you'll find
You get what you need
Den,

You're just bitter because your one shot you had at becoming a full-time scout for the Rams you wasted on this seldom-used reserve receiver in the 11th round from Dartford, in '82. You kept going on and on about his "catch radius" and the guy ran like a 4.75, rounded off his routes, and was for sh!t on special teams.

To top it off he was caught doing bong hits with Henley before practice and never made it to the first pre-season game.

You weren't happy with Tye Hill, Claude Wroten, Jon Alston and Dominique Byrd ... who, along with Klopfenstein, were all drafted in top-three rounds.

Top draft picks?

For anyone who doesn't remember them (i.e. non-Rams fans), they sound more like the members of some middling 70s rock band.

Top draft picks?

Jon Alston's 4.40 forty remains one of the fastest by any Linebacker in the history of the NFL Combine.

Alston had two tackles as a Ram before being waived prior to his 2nd season.

As bad as Joe Klopfenstein was, he was actually a much better Tight End than Dominique Byrd.

And, YES ... there is an "F" in Klopfenstein.
