Since Limmer has been playing, PFF has graded him out among our top two or three offensive lineman consistently.

Pretty damn impressive for a rookie.
Dedich was our second highest graded lineman in his FIRST START.

Look at this weeks lineup;
LT A.Jackson - UDFA
LG J.Dedich -UDFA (could be Jonah Jackson a third rounder by Detroit)
C B.Limmer - 6th rounder
RG K.Dotson - 4th rounder by Pittsburgh
RT W.McClendon 5th rounder

That's how you build an offensive line, with guys that try harder. :)

When Hav went down against Seattle, McClendon filled in nicely. In fact, he seemed more comfortable at RT, so I'm not too worried there. I think we're gonna see more of Boom, who may start at RT with McClendon backing him up.

The one thing that is clear is...YOU DON'T MESS WITH LIMMER! Just let that guy play!!!

First, I agree that Limmer and Dedich are doing well for being late-round and UDFA rookies. My only contention is that we don't overhype their performance and mistake playing well for a UDFA and rookie as playing well relative to the entire league.

They are both still rated below average. They are both still best served as backups.

For the year, here is how our OL rank per PFF (not including guys who played 1 game or a partial game):

AJ - 69 - slightly above average
Dotson - 66.7 - average
Havenstein - 66.5 - average
Limmer - 59.9 - below average
Dedich - 56.6 - below average
Bruss - 44.8 - far below average
McClendon - 43.9 - far below average

By signing Jackson, the hope and plan for the OL was that it would be elite. Due to injuries, it's fallen far short of that. Having decent depth has helped salvage the season but we need the starters to realize the original promise of being elite.

I appreciate the numbers but don't see Bruss's numbers as meaningful at all nor Mclendon's really as I can only go by the one game where he replaced Havenstien,
My rewatching of the game had McClendon looking pretty dang good.
I'm not interested in lower grades they got earlier in their career which is pulling their average down.

I'm looking at where they rank as a UNIT the last three games which we've won.
I'm guessing that they do go with Jonah Jackson at LG. However he's one player that is consistently injured like no boom so call me less than impressed.

All of the numbers I posted are from their snaps this year. None are from earlier in a career. McClendon has played in 3 games and has 149 snaps.

You are right that the Unit is playing much better the last three games. In weeks 1-5, they were ranked 31st as a unit in pass blocking. In weeks 6-9, they are ranked 10th. There is no way to do the same search for run blocking, but for the season overall they are middle of the pack at 15th in run blocking.

I like the improvement in the last few weeks but still posit we'd be better overall by going with our more talented players in Avila and Jackson. I'm not sure on Jonah Jackson's injury history but I don't think he's been consistently hurt like Noteboom.

McClendon Is my biggest fear.

Good limited game vs Seattle but he’s really struggled overall so far.

Boom ain’t perfect but is far more reliable in pass pro.

I’d also plug in Jackson at LG for this game and let Limmer hold down center.

Unless Avila is 100%, in which case you slide Jackson to C and Avila to LG.

Dedich and Mclendon need to be replaced as started ASAP.

I don't give a damn how much Jackson is making, he's not going to replace Limmer at Center.

He can sit on the bench and count his millions that he scammed us out of if he wants.

I will add though that continuity is EXTREMELY important.
This line has improved steadily and should continue to do that.
Usually, pass protection is the last thing to come together in a line and it has been doing that the last few weeks with very few sacks or pressures.
I would honestly ask Stafford what he thinks and how comfortable he feels.
I love the extra benefit, no matter which direction they go, that our "2nd stringers" Limmer, Dedich and McClendon are getting excellent experience and are continuously being coached up from game tape. I'm going to give our second stringers an A++ for stepping into the fire and performing EXTREMELY well. Not to mention the great job our oline coaches I've done to coach these guys up and the scouts to find these guys in the later rounds and as cfa's
Yes, this experience should only help our depth. There is no way though that when our starters are back that either one will sit on the bench. Continuity will come fast for the starters because of their experience. Their talent will carry them until then.

He's been out for two months bro?
That’s my point, and he was injured in Detroit to.

Think I feel better rolling with who we Avila at LG, Limmer at C, and Dotson at RG

Dedich was solid vs the Raiders.
He was excellent vs the Vikings.
He got bullied and pushed around (as did Limmer) vs the Seahawks.
Overall I have been impressed by both players and certainly see them sticking long term as quality back ups.....and possible eventual starters. I find Dedich interesting in that regard in particular. If J Jackson continues with his career struggles with staying on the field Dedich may end up starting eventually.
He has a good skill set.
The experience that both Limmer and Dedich are getting under fire as rookies (and because they have responded and played well) is invaluable.
Two great finds.

Avila is better than what we have (including Jackson) at LG.
But, he should also be better than Limmer at C.
Dedich has been a great surprise at LG and has secured a roster spot going forward....but, I don't know if he is at Jacksons' level just yet.
One thing for sure, his paycheck is not, so, when they come back they will both start and Bruss will likely head to the PS.

Yeah - sure. Where does Noteboom stand in all of this ?

Doesn’t look like he will start at RT,but he’ll be ready to play multiple positions.

Still sucking at Noteboob's tit I see.

The bench is so much safer for him.

One of the best moves McVay has made is the hiring of this OL coaching staff.
And between them, they'll decide the best 5 to put out there. I trust Wendell and McVay will get it right. The OL was perceived to be a strength going into the season and we haven't seen the "original" 5 play 1 game together yet. Kudos to Limmer and Dedich. Obviously, their experience gained make it an even stronger unit.

OH yeah - wait when Troy Reeder comes back as well.

Omar helped on a game saving tackle though.

BTW- tell me where I’m wrong ? He’s available this week.Maybe The Rams maybe can trade a 7th for a 6th - lol.

Mcvay basically said McCleddon is going to stat RT.

Him being able to start everywhere but C is his strength.
He should start for Hav at RT while he is out injured.

I want 2-3 blue chip players on our O line. The try hard guys can be great backups.
Get us another Orlando Pace and a Kent Hill while you are at it.

The OL looked a little weak vs. Seattle for some reason. Kyren got stuffed too often, and Staff was very hurried. That was disappointing.

AJ has looked strong though, and that’s been a significant improvement for us since he’s returned.
