That's not at all how I remember it. I specifically remember reading that the Rams had to sweeten the pot. In fact, if you really think that Holmes covered goff, then we got fleeced if we had to give up two first in addition to him. I'm not above being wrong though. But I recall the lions having to take Goff's contract which no one wanted as part of the reason.
Holmes knew that it was only going to cost him 25 M the first year and then 15 M Cap hit the second year if they decided to go another direction and 0 cap hit the 3rd year if he was dumped after two years.

I think 25M was cheap for a decent QB even in 2021.

And I did think we got fleeced since McVay put down Goff after the playoff game.

Everyone knew that the Rams had given up on Goff and knew that the Rams weren't going to get much for him. But Holmes knew Goff and probably believed that Goff would be a decent transition QB at 25 M for one year. And Holmes knew trading Stafford to the 49ers weren't going to give him much of a QB in return. I think he knew Crapola was a system QB. And Crapola at that time would have demanded a higher salary than Goff.

But as you say, I could be wrong too.

Stafford is not an elite QB. I can't think of any signature playoff comebacks. Never won anything in Detroit.

Had an opportunity this weekend to pull one of the bag and didn't happen.

Fleeced in that I felt we gave up too much at the time for Stafford.

I have come around on that. It turned out great.

But still think that if McVay had pumped up Goff after the GB game, we wouldn't have had to give up 2 firsts for Stafford.

Really?!?

That is just an Awful Take.

Stafford rallied the Rams from deficits in the 2021 NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl.
He got the Rams there, with two long passes in the final 40 seconds against Tampa in the Divisional Round.

In all seven playoff games with the Rams (5-2), he has been outstanding. Every Fucking one of them.
Completed almost 70% of his passes in those seven games, averaged almost 300 yards per-game, with 15 TDs against just 3 interceptions ... minimum two touchdown passes in every playoff game with the Rams.

If you can't remember any of that, you can look it up.

You're entitled to your opinions but, if this is an example, not many here will take them seriously.

Yeah it's all history now anyways. Glad it worked out for everyone. Goff gave his all here.

Dude is in 4th place all time for 4th quarter comebacks. Did you see he had ANOTHER "no look" pass in a playoff game this past Sunday. He played the end of the season with cracked ribs.
He is still elite and a fucking stud.
You ever try and throw a ball with cracked ribs. Kinda impossible, the pain is crazy.
I do not get any anti Stafford talk. I hope he plays until past 40 and shuts all this bullshit up.

Then I don’t understand your point.

Do you mean Goff intentionally sucked so that McVay wanted to trade him away?
I think you and I are on two completely different thought patterns here. And I have no idea what your point is.

So I think it is best to just go our separate ways on this subject.

I think he has flashes of being elite, but now he's to old and gets banged up to much and it shows in his game. He's tough as nails no doubt but when he's hurting we fall off the points scored. The future is, obviously, the qb types left in the playoffs. I love Stafford, he just needs better players now around him than ever before.
