I've been looking at some of Brock Purdy's plays. IMO the Niners have found their QB of the future and Lance will be his backup. Purdy IMO has elite skills and is playing like a vet. When you break his play down you can see why the Niners have to be a favorite to win the Lombardi this year. Purdy isn't playing like a 7th round developmental QB. I was shocked at his ability to read defenses and his throwing accuracy. He reads defenses like a veteran.

Jimmy G and Lance have been replaced and the Rams really have to worry about the Niners. With Purdy they are real. He looks unflappable under pressure. This is why what happens with Mayfield and Stafford is important. The Niners have jumped to the head of the line in terms of competition for the NFCW division title. Week 13 was Purdy's first real start and since then he's thrown for 10 TDs vs 3 INTs in those games. They aren't going easy on him either with anywhere from 40%-49% of the offensive snaps being passes.

His passing ability is exactly what they want to complement their run game.

This is why what the Rams do at QB over the long term is important. The Niners are not playing catchup in the QB department anymore. Purdy is only going to get better with experience. Stafford is still better, BUT his injuries show he's on the downside of his career. With Kyler the Cards will drop into irrelevance and the Hawks will be playing catchup. Geno Smith is good make no mistake, but their OL and defense is questionable. With the Hawks, the QB isn't the problem and I think they will stay with Smith for the foreseeable future.

The 49ers with Purdy as their QB will be the primary opposition for the division title.

We'll see what happens when teams get the book on him. The guys who have "it" are able to adjust when defenses figure them out. The guys who don't have it can't adjust. I remember Austin Davis's hot start with the Rams. He got figured out. I remember Nick Mullen stringing together some good games for SF. He got figured out. I remember Case Keenum starting hot in Houston. He got figured out.

What will happen when defenses figure Purdy out? We shall see.

You took the words out my mouth. Or my fingers.

Defenses adjust to what QBs do well.

Hope he isn’t the real deal or we up
Shit creek.

Fuck him he's so lucky. I saw 1-too many plays where he goes into a panic in the pocket spins and then throws up a prayer and it's complete. Some DC will figure him out and end their season because he will make mistakes that cost them.

The guy is getting off to an unbelievable start. He has a lot going for him on both sides of the ball though, and one of the best playcallers in the league. So, he is getting a lot of help. Plus, it's been posted already, but they will figure out something and he is going to be asked to do a lot more than he is now. That will be in the playoffs where he will be seeing the best of the conference. I agree that he might have won the starting job, but his proformance in the playoffs will cement it.

I don’t care, I wish him all the future QB trouble one can muster up. Go get me some fried chicken Rook

Jrry,
The problem with Davis and Keenum is they lacked an NFL quality arm. In your opinion what do you think of Purdy's arm strength? Is it NFL quality or barely adequate or what?
Thanks!

I know this might not be exactly the right time for this........but I mean no malice........I want to see how he plays after taking a big hit from his blindside. One he gets up from but rattles his teeth. Like that saying, "everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth". He looks so slight on TV.

He seems ok at the moment but wait until he's done it a few more games. Or wait until he faces a playoff quality defense and coach. Way too early to anoint anybody.

Jimmy Garoppolo is now 5-0 as a starter for the Patriots and 49ers. This, despite being an underdog in 3 of his first 5 starts:

How long did each quarterback go before losing a regular season game? Garoppolo will need to make it to 8 straight wins to have the fourth longest steak since 1950.

This is an article from 2017. Garappolo went 8-0 winning his first 5 with SF. Then got beat by Minnesota. This could have been written for Brock Purdy. Roethlisberger won his first 13 regular season games, his first postseason game, then lost the next game to New England. Purdy could be 5-0 after this week. Then he'll need 3 wins in the postseason against good defenses to get to 8. Anybody think he's going to beat 3 playoff teams in his 6th, 7th and 8th starts?

In the Raiders game, he gets unexpected pressure, throws it up for grabs and in just happens to land in the arms of aiyuk.

The Raiders QB hits his hand on his own man throwing the ball downfield and it just happens to land in a defender's arms instead of his own receiver.

The kid can play but he's been getting pretty lucky also.

Well I’m glad they traded all those picks for Lance. Sucks now that they add the RB & QB for their next 3 seasons. Purdy not being expensive is the WORST factor. Purdy is so CAP friendly.
