In the Raiders game, he gets unexpected pressure, throws it up for grabs and in just happens to land in the arms of aiyuk.

The Raiders QB hits his hand on his own man throwing the ball downfield and it just happens to land in a defender's arms instead of his own receiver.

The kid can play but he's been getting pretty lucky also.
That Raiders QB’s stats were pretty impressive & against a tough 9ers defense. That QB for the JETS had a couple nice games as well,so who knows.

This just means Grab a Pole will be available next season. If Mayfield can't be resigned, he would be a great backup here next year.
Jimmy G is no Baker Mayfield & his upside is not even close. The contract he signs will show that.
—Jimmy G as a backup will be expensive

He’s thrown for over 250 yards once.

Let’s pump the breaks on this one, shall we?
That’s the shitty part of all of this. He doesn’t have to do much and I can see them make a legit Super Bowl run. Team is stacked.

The sign of a good offense.....and they have that D. Sorta like when Garappolo was in New England. It'll pass. Deebo will be crying again this year when they lose in the postseason. Shanahan be "Purdy's a good backup but I need a Tom".

Free agents? 2 starting OL McGlinchey & Brendel, 1 backup Brunskill. Ebukam, J.Ward, Mosely, Gipson, Givens, Al-Shaair, Ridgeway, Verrett, Garappolo.

Increasing cap hits? Bosa +7 mil, Trent Williams +18 mil, McCaffrey +11 mil, Kittle +11 mil, Armstead +13 mil, Warner +9.5 mil, Charvarius Ward +13 mil, Juszczyk +4 mil.....that's an increase of 86 mil for just those 8 guys. Who will be asked to restructure and who will refuse and be cut?

At least they get a deal with Purdy!!!!

This is why what happens with Mayfield and Stafford is important.
Correct, but not the way you think.
The 49ers are showing exactly what the Rams need, to draft a QB who they can mold and raise in their system. No bad habits, all NFL skills learned in their system.
2023- Stafford returns to form, Mayfield signs elsewhere and the Rams draft a QB who they'll have for 4 years and let the Wolford's and Perkins of the world head to the USFL or XFL where they belong

Jrry,
The problem with Davis and Keenum is they lacked an NFL quality arm. In your opinion what do you think of Purdy's arm strength? Is it NFL quality or barely adequate or what?
Thanks!

Same sort of arm as Keenum has imo.

Jimmy G is a quality quarterback, imo. I hate him (for now) simply because he's on the effing Whiners.
Whadda we gonna do if MS retires, or gets hurt again? Our new leader isn't on the roster today.

How many teams good teams have the San Fagcisco 49queers beat? Not saying we'll beat them if we play, but the Cowboys have more wins over teams above .500 than anyone. 49queers now officially have had the easiest schedule in the NFL.

Well, if that's the case (no pun intended) then Mr. Purdy is purdy much going to be relegated to being a career back up QB. I mean if anyone could have made a weak arm but good in accuracy a recipe for a starting position it was Case Keenum or even Colt McCoy.

Both of 'em have their qualities but at the end of the day the defenses around the league KNEW that they could not make every throw. Things like deep outs and other types of routes were no longer a threat to the other team.

I hope you are correct Jrry.....I'm looking forward to facing someone like Trey Lance in the futre to be honest.

I've been looking at some of Brock Purdy's plays. IMO the Niners have found their QB of the future and Lance will be his backup. Purdy IMO has elite skills and is playing like a vet. When you break his play down you can see why the Niners have to be a favorite to win the Lombardi this year. Purdy isn't playing like a 7th round developmental QB. I was shocked at his ability to read defenses and his throwing accuracy. He reads defenses like a veteran.

Jimmy G and Lance have been replaced and the Rams really have to worry about the Niners. With Purdy they are real. He looks unflappable under pressure. This is why what happens with Mayfield and Stafford is important. The Niners have jumped to the head of the line in terms of competition for the NFCW division title. Week 13 was Purdy's first real start and since then he's thrown for 10 TDs vs 3 INTs in those games. They aren't going easy on him either with anywhere from 40%-49% of the offensive snaps being passes.

His passing ability is exactly what they want to complement their run game.

This is why what the Rams do at QB over the long term is important. The Niners are not playing catchup in the QB department anymore. Purdy is only going to get better with experience. Stafford is still better, BUT his injuries show he's on the downside of his career. With Kyler the Cards will drop into irrelevance and the Hawks will be playing catchup. Geno Smith is good make no mistake, but their OL and defense is questionable. With the Hawks, the QB isn't the problem and I think they will stay with Smith for the foreseeable future.

The 49ers with Purdy as their QB will be the primary opposition for the division title.
We’ll see.
Time will tell.

If Jalen Hurts is healthy, the Eagles will be a tall order for the whiners. The Eagles have a strong O-line and a mobile QB. Two things that whiners usually struggle with. And hopefully, if the whiners reach the SB, then Mahomes and the Chefs make it because a healthy Mahomes will give the whiners fits.

We'll see what happens when teams get the book on him. The guys who have "it" are able to adjust when defenses figure them out. The guys who don't have it can't adjust. I remember Austin Davis's hot start with the Rams. He got figured out. I remember Nick Mullen stringing together some good games for SF. He got figured out. I remember Case Keenum starting hot in Houston. He got figured out.

What will happen when defenses figure Purdy out? We shall see.
In the short term he has some tremendous advantages.
He has the advantage of playing with a very, very good defense and a clever coach who is determined to run the ball.
The combo takes the pressure off of him in my cases and provides plenty of wide open receivers due to the strong run action.
Playing with playoff pressure, from behind against a team that can force passing situations will be a first test for him.

When Purdy gets shit on by playoff defenses and the Shitters cave like the bitches they are this is gonna be a celebration thread. And if not, well, I get to do something else for the Super Bowl. :beer2::woozy2::bird:
