I have no idea why they aren't starting Durant on the boundary. He has the stickiness needed to succeed. He has better long speed than Kendrick. And while yes, he needs more physicality, he at least has the ball skills to compensate.

But yes, I'd have two better corners than either of them.
I noticed Tyler Johnson in uniform, and thought of you.

I don't think he took an offensive snap but #16 was on the sideline.

While we're talking about scrub receivers, could Robinson get any more open on that TD?

I think I said that already didn’t I?

I think I said “I wish Durant was more physical or Kendrick could cover consistently, but neither will ever come to fruition.”
Wasn't arguing with anyone. Just stating my viewpoint on any comparisons between the two. You absolutely said that.

How about because the coaches Morris, Lake and Pleasant don't think he's better thank Kendrick?

I didn't even realize Spoon was hurt at the time and that Kendrick's assignment/role changed.

Well.. we know he's not a number 1 corner, that's for sure.

Still very valuable on a roster, imo.

Witherspoon is the only boundary CB.

Earlier in the year they didn't use a boundary CB...went left and right. Kendrick only played boundary today after Spoon went down.

Durant has played mostly slot but some outside. When outside it's been to the field or on the side of the "star".

I think I remember you from the other board. If so, you're a welcome addition.

If he gets toasted which we know he does than hopefully he learns even though it seems pretty repetitive what I can't deal with is the penalties. It just to much one after the other and if on the other defenders I'm pissed like bro your keeping us on the field for 43 extra plays. The penalties are obnoxious

Ideally Spoon gets back on the field and Kendricks moves back into his field role. Durant has disappointed and Tre isn't ready. I actually thought DK would show better @ Boundary.

And last year? I'm pretty sure Durant played mostly outside last year, especially during his best game (Broncos game).

Hard to know and who knows why Rams switched to boundary/field. They like Spoon on boundary for some reason...but DK maybe he is going to get beat boundary, field, nickel-side..I don't know.

two things - "outside" or "wide" CB does not mean "boundary" CB - it means to the short side of the field -
In 2022 Durant played both in slot and outside.

he was slot/box about 200 times (167 slot) and wide 78 snaps -- about 80% slot
this year 349/491 snaps as a wide corner. -- 70% slot

Ah, okay. Thanks for the heads up, Dan; I'm always willing to learn new things.

Every one of DK's scouting reports mentions lack of speed as a weakness. We see that every week. Not sure how that can be fixed other than being certain he has safety help up top. Not sure why Rams don't do that.

I will give some examples if you want.

CBs are the alignments that are hardest to follow.
Staley did a lot of left and right. So on any given play, depending on which hash the ball is one either one could be the boundary, other field

First part of this year Morris did that. And probably (if memory serves) part of 2021.

But mostly, I think Ramsey was the boundary CB when he was not the star. Like last year Kendrick and Hill would be to the field.
But there are exceptions. I think Ramsey has followed DK Metcalf and Hopkins in those games (big WRs) so he'd go where they go a lot of the time.

You could look at plenty of photos and see different variations since 2020.

The hardest to understand is when the ball is in the middle of the field and the defense is in base (4 DBs) and try to figure out what they are doing. Is it left and right? Is it to the formation (strong or weak)?

Secondary and coverage is hard for me.

The issue isn’t really Kendrick at all. He was a late sixth round pick for a reason. He may be playing better than one would expect a kid drafted that late to play.

The issue is that he is the best the Rams have on that side of the field. That felt good enough when the expectations were missing the playoffs and the Rams having a possible top ten pick. Now it just feels a bit hopeless. It’s almost like 2020 when in every game I’d be waiting for the pick six to happen with Goff at QB. It is uncomfortable and makes me uneasy watching the game.

A punter can't punt Sean cuts him. A PK misses FGs Sean cuts him.

DK fucks up game after game, but only crickets. Why? IMO he's being protected by Morris.

Durant is healthy and his mistakes have been nothing like DK's. But he's benched and DK plays. Everyone else is accountable for their play except DK. You don't think that isn't a problem in the locker room? If it isn't now it will be if DK costs them a playoff berth or playoff game because that's taking money from these guys.

1. Sign Johnson (Chi) in FA.
2. Draft Edge.

Bears probably tag him of course. But that's a good way to give this defense the tools it needs to take a big step forward next year.
