And there is an aspect I may have wrong.
Think is cover-6 (quarters to the 3 receiver side and halves to the 2 receiver side)
HOWEVER---I think there was a TRIX call (Fangio terminology for poach or robber)
Second HOWEVER if there is a TRIX call it would make sense for Kendrick to force the X receiver outside.
if it was going to be Cover-2 then yearh, inside because safety can get there, but Cover-2 with a robber (TRIX) you have no help deep and sideline is your friend so I am confused there.
But---let's assume I am right, Cover-6 with a TRIX call.
Kendrick has #1 receives (X) in MEG (man everywhere he goes)
Fuller shuffles and tries not to give away that he's robbing. He's looking for the #3 receiver to run a post or dig, an in-breaking route the 2 LBers take the #3 receivers and match with the near side matching short Johnson the right safety caps the #3 or #2 if #3 cuts in Durant as the #1 near side (strong) in MOD (Man outside and deep) if he cuts in then the slot has to read that and pick up #1 and Durant takes someone deep "looks for work"
Durant has outside leverage. His help is inside. And then as route develops the WR is outside...to complete that it is tough throw over him.
Lake as the #2 pretty good Johnson, I put a question mark...he looks a little out of place, but then again, I probably don't know what he's is supposed to do. On the other hand, Johnson and Fuller have looked like they have made mistakes the last 3 games.
So, questions
Was there a TRIX call? Were they expecting, say a post for #3 strong?
Did Fuller go solo?
Was he supposed to cap the route and help Kendrick? Without TRIX call I think yes.
As it was he saw the problem (kept eyes on QB) and hightailed it out of there to try and at least bracket the #1 weak.
But Kendrick beat, ball a bit underthrown making it look closer than it was if ball perfect, but backup QBs? Darn good throw.
So, there it is, the best I can do. The leverage with Kendrick bothers me a little ...
