As I stated Cobie Durant missing at least 5 tackles.I say that when he has a solo & lets him get by & needs help.Might get a half tackle, but without support could’ve been a house call by his poor tackling skills.
I guess I answered my own question & just think he is a slot CB. I also drink Kool-aide & maybe he could turn into a good CB? He also is a little older, meaning viewing players finding out upside(ascending) & what type of player they may become?? Jury is still out,but from what I see from Durant is The Will to Be Successful.
—He won’t be afraid of putting in the hard work?

His lack of physicality and tackling problems showed up today.

He's not a starter.. a really nice depth guy.. but he's not a starter.
Rams need to figure something out there this offseason.. because when Hill is far and away your second best corner, you're in bad shape.
Tackling attempts were very poor by Durant. Didn't even slow down or complete misses, more like he tried to look like he was trying.

4.87 40 time is atrocious... so uh no
Well it doesn’t show that slow on tape. He is playing on special teams. Will keep an eye on that though, but 40 times is what it is. Doesn’t make a players real speed all the time .There are game speed that scouts calculate.

Is it time for Rams to give up on Robert Rochell?

The young corner went from being an impact player as a rookie to an afterthought in 2022

I'm not sure impact has ever been a relevant word for him yet. His athleticism shows up in a good way on occasion, mostly on special teams, but the fact they were rolling out players like Kendrick and Long over him tells me all I need to know about his ability to play NFL CB at this point. Would certainly be nice if he could take the next step and he's on a rookie contract so he'll get another chance this summer regardless.

He is a man to man CB and did not fit Morris soft zone scheme

Not a surprise he didn't play

I would like to see him play in a more typical defensive scheme where you play man to man and off coverage

In 2021, Morris played a more aggressive scheme later in the year when Rochelle made some plays.

I know that's the assumption most people like to go off of but I'm willing to bet our talent facilitated that decision a bit. Rochell was on injured reserve for the back half of 2021 and playoffs when the defense changed up its approach to be more aggressive. Before he got injured he played a good amount but we were a lot more conservative. I'd be more inclined to assume the coaches simply don't trust him as a starting CB and in 2022 they had to play the way they did based on the talent they had that they did trust. Whether that's the right move Idk, I'm not privy to practice and film review by coaches but they obviously lack any kind of faith in him or he'd be out there playing over players like Kendrick and Long. Maybe year 3 is the year he comes in and impresses.

Why would they dump a young athletic CB who they have invested in while he is still on a rookie contract?

I’m blaming the coaching staff for not developing and playing him more at this point.

I know he was injured trying to make a play on teams but he should be fully recovered from that. If he is going to break out and be an asset he needs to play. Put Kendrick on teams and make an effort with Rochell, he has more upside.

I thought this topic ref. Robert Rochell was a possible great discussion here before the upcoming Draft for the few remaining ROD members lurking around.

The highly probable departure of 4 {UFA's} of our 5 main 2022 DB's along with veteran 27 yr old CB Grant Haley & 2nd season CB Shaun Jolley being involved in Free Agency. This would be 6 DB's who are involved in FA'cy and who was on the 2022 MR53.

This leaves Snead with only one starting 2022 DB (Jaylen Ramsey). Another DB former starter SS Jordan Fuller has been on the injured reserve 3 times in 3 seasons. JF only has one season left on his rookie contract. JF has a cap hit of nearly $3 million this upcoming season too. All four of the Rams signed safeties are Strong Safety types with an absence of any deep/free safety skilled safeties.

DB's with some game experience are Safety Russ Yeast who played in 15 gms in 2022. CB Derion Kendrick has 14 gms & 6 starts. CB Decobie Durant played in 3 gms. Strong Safety Quentin Lake played in 9 gms with 11 snaps. Strong Safety Richard LeCount played in 1 gm 0 snaps & rookie TJ Carter had zero gms.

I do not believe the Rams should consider shedding RR at this time. Another good reason is RR has two seasons left on his economy-priced salary. RR may be the most gifted DB in athleticism. He is by far degree our fastest.

I would say there is more of a chance that always-injured SS Jordan Fuller is shredded for Cap savings than RR.

Rochell was a known great athlete but he was raw, which is why we got him where we did. He still looks raw. So he'll either start figuring it out soon or he'll be yet another athlete who couldn't play at this level due to a lack of instincts.

The thing with Rochelle… we have very little game day data.

He seemed to show promise as a rookie, started 5 games. Since? No data.

I don’t see anything to suggest we should move on because he’s hardly played. He hasn’t proven success, or failure, IMO.
