This has been tough on my family in regards to just the fact my son, who is a college senior, is losing his last season of college baseball.

Team captain and just devasted that he has worked so hard over the yrs, playing a game he loves, and now he will never play ball again and no senior day, etc...

Never could imagine a scenario like this would end his career. It is tough to end even on a good note, but this is brutal.

As the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread throughout the globe, older Americans are among the most vulnerable. This poses a conundrum: Do they avoid crowded grocery stores or do they stock up on food?


One elderly couple from Oregon had recently driven to a Safeway in Bend, Oregon, but they were too scared to get out of their car.

After 45 minutes, the wife cracked her window and shouted out to a young woman, professional runner Rebecca Mehra. "She cracked her window open a bit more, and explained to me nearly in tears that they are afraid to go in the store," Mehra wrote on Twitter.

A little bit of effort can really help those who are most vulnerable.

Makes me feel guilty for not knocking on my neighbor's doors to see if they need help.

Well, I'm not worried about dying from it still, or this silly end of the world crap, but I am expecting to catch the bug eventually.

We've had several students on campus test positive for it now, and one of them lived in a dorm directly across the street from my office. He frequented two of the three places I get my food from (and the third is one of the most visited areas on campus) pretty often apparently. They've had me and a few others coming into work to do some research updating, so chances are I've been exposed. My department chair is expecting full campus suspended operations (we're on limited operations now) to happen soon, but the entire city of Seattle is trending that direction.

Mobile testing begins on Monday for students, so we're all expecting confirmed cases to skyrocket, which will probably trigger the action.

This virus has me concerned and I am never one to overreact....However, working in a building that has over 400 people and doing presentations all day long, IMO, increases my risk. Add in that I do suffer from mild Crohn's disease and again the risk goes up, plus turning 54 this year and although my wife can work from home, my job, for the most part does not offer that opportunity, unless they decide to shut down operations, which is being debated about.

Tomorrow, we were supposed to have a family gathering for my daughter's birthday, as we've done this every year and even though she is turning 18, she has also enjoyed having the family together at an area restaurant in a private room, but I have been conversing with my wife to cancel the event. It's only going to be about 14 relatives, I still feel strongly about having everyone stay home and having them come over in the summer for a huge barbecue instead, when hopefully, everything settles down.

According to casino officials, Foxwoods will also be temporarily closing its High Stakes Bingo Hall effective Saturday, March 14 and the Rainmaker Buffet effective Monday, March 16.

Additionally, Poker tournaments, Poker live action tables, Racebook and Keno will close beginning Monday, March 16.


Officials said table games at Rainmaker Casino, Great Cedar Casino and Fox Tower Casino will close beginning Monday, March 16. Grand Pequot Tower and all electronic table games will remain open.

Bus transportation to and from the resort is suspended beginning today, Friday, March 13.

On the one hand announcements are made that the test will be free, then on the other we are told you will need to see your own doctor and he/she will need to make the decision on the test. Visiting a doctor is rarely free. Low income, under or non insured people will continue to go untested if they have to choose between paying the rent or paying for a doctors appointment. Further delays in testing means less people diagnosed that will be volunteering to self-quarantine. Seems unless more are tested we'll just keep going in circles on this. jmo.

For the first time ever, I convinced my wife we need to stay home(which will save us money). She loves getting out. Shopping, Indian casinos, etc. So there is a silver lining for me. I wouldn't have a problem staying home and binge watching Netflix and Amazon. Plus, I convinced her the golf course is low risk for me with everyone being so spread apart. I spend most of my time in the trees looking for my ball away from other golfers.

A lot of places will be setting up mobile testing sites. We have one that will be starting up on campus Monday so we can test all the students. Those you literally drive up, stay in your car, and they test you right then and there.
