I'm not sure our rather decimated OL will allow much 'shocking' the league this year, but I look very favorably upon building for the future, if not quite as much for today.
I'm also not big on trading away our higher 2023 draft picks, mostly due to our pressing OL needs, so that leaves me thinking trading some of our Super Bowl level players that may not necessarily have extended stays in L.A. are made available. Matching those players with teams which could benefit from them is trickier, but shouldn't be impossible. I also have no objection to trading 2024 picks which might be bundled together with players. jmo.
Yeah we can't afford any further OL injuries. We're gonna need a run of health with that unit and if that doesn't happen we're done.

But if they can avoid further injuries they should be ok at 3/5 of the OL those being both tackles and the center. And that is the framework of a line, they just need to get two guards going and then everyone playing on the same page. Staying healthy will help with that all important effect of five guys playing on one sheet of music too.

It sucks to rely on Evans but he does have a solid talent level. We'll see with Aboushi. We're definitely a darkhorse right now due to the line but I think there's still a storyline where they can come through for us.

So the niners are gonna pay this running back 12 million per season for 3 years? That's a lot of jack for an oft-injured, getting older running back. And he's small. Wait until next year when Tre Lance takes over... he'll feel like he's with Carolina again.
Meanwhile they'll probably win the division and quite possibly the NFC Championship. It's an "all in" move designed to deprive their rivals of a need. Their roster is top tier and loaded, they could care less about next years draft.

Waiting for Snead's Plan B, ... and it might be better. :bullseye:
Snead has remained very thick in very good heathy DL'ers as Rams go into their 7th gm of this season:
Group A
Aaron Donald
A'Shawn Robinson
Greg Gaines
Bobby Brown
Marquise Copeland
Mike Hoecht
Jonah Williams

In addition, Snead has a good amount of depth sitting around too in this DL:
Group B
DE Ernest Brown
DE Zach VanValkenburg
DE Keir Thomas
DT TJ Carter
DT Elijah Garcia

Summary:
The point is Snead does have 2 SB starting DL'ers who will be UFA's in less than 6 months & I am sure that some NFL teams who are suffering from injuries in their DL just might have some desire to try to save their season too by trading away an RB or a pass rusher?

If he stays healthy. Whiners going to use him like crazy and his injury history isn't good. Paying big for RBs rarely works but this one will be dependent on McCaffrey staying healthy. Sounds bad saying it, but I hope he gets fucked up and the Whiners trade flops big time.
CMC isn't your average HB. Like Faulk, he could be a Pro Bowl WR. The issue with him is health. If he stays on the field, he's a stud.

Rams losing-out on McCaffrey is so much worse than we may realize.

We also lost-out on Olivia Culpo!

By-the-way ... is the gorgeous woman behind McCaffrey his back-up? Man this guy is a Superstar!

They'll care if they don't win it all. Losing spurs changes.

I've already posted my belief that a late round draft pick could bring us a quality RB, ... I've also suggested A'Shawn Robinson as one of a few of our players that Carolina might make good use of, along with the addition of a higher 2024 draft pick. Brian Burns remains at the top of my wish list, and I believe if we're willing to make a sacrifice we can get a top young Edge rusher to pair with Aaron Donald while he is still wearing horns. jmo.

This is a big get for the 9ers for sure, but I’m not losing my shit over it.

This season is so strange that it’s barely above a strike year…

And with the poor outlook for Trey Lance and the injury history of their D that they have no ammo to replenish… this could be quite a Pyrrhic victory for them.

They’re not winning the SB this year and I think they’re pretty screwed going forward…

Even if they make the playoffs (and how on point would it be for this season for the only team to come out of the west to be the Seahawks?), they’re not getting past the Vikes or Eagles

So they go all in for what? A wild card loss, maybe? Only to be crippled for several seasons?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we were going hard in a win win… win if we get him or win if we drive up the price so high as to cripple them…

I’m fine. Relax everyone… it’s gonna be ok

What would be amazing is if we go get Hunt and he outperforms CMC through the remaining season and playoffs. Sounds crazy but he has a skill set that very nicely fits here with us. And he has some power in his run style too. Or Gibson. Same could apply, where potentially the Rams add a back much cheaper who is just as big an impact for their team.

But they really need to make the move and get someone in here so they can play vs the 9ers after the bye. So that player will be ready to go. This is a really fucking big early season game.

The same reason teams dish players like him midseason: he isn't a primary factor in their attack, he is a FA after the season, so why not pad your picks with a guy you know you'll lose in FA.

It also makes him a perfect pickup for the Rams. He would focus and play his ass off to get a good contract at the end of the season.

"If" is the middle word in life.

If you can dream but not make dreams your master
If you can think but not make thoughts your aim
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch and toss
And lose and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss -------- Kipling

EVERYBODY goes all in in the NFL. Some more than others.

The Rams went all in risking A LOT and they didn't have to "not breath a word about their loss". Tampa went all in with Brady and won a Superbowl. But did they go as "all in" as the Rams? What did they give up for Brady? Salary? No picks. No players. A risky "all in"? Signing a 6 time Superbowl Champion QB? The Rams went all in on a guy who was 0-3 in the postseason over a 12 year period. Denver followed a combination of the Bucs/Rams model and aren't looking too good right now. Now the 49ers have too with one exception. They went for a RB and not a QB..........and IF McCaffrey stays healthy it may work out as long as Jimmy Garapolo stays healthy also. Because SF with Garapolo and not McCaffrey might be a playoff team but SF with McCaffrey and no QB are the Carolina Panthers. This reeks of desperation. Desperation because of both their injury histories. Desperation because they couldn't live with what the Rams did. And desperation because if it fails, I gotta believe Shanahan and Lynch are gone.

Yeah, i just didnt think the whiners would allow the rams to out bid them or beat them to the punch again.

The thing about MCM is he has a ton of millage on him. Standford lived off him, so did the Panthers. Running backs, when they start to decline, as a rule of thumb, tend to fall off a cliff.

This is an over reaction to the rams succes.

I hope you are right. I think it’s the All In piece they needed. Even if they get just one year of him it is a success

So while the niners got better, this trade really doesn’t affect us. A loss is a loss from our perspective vs the niners. The niners already had our number. So from our POV it really only helps us by hurting their draft opportunities moving forward.

This could be a win for us, actually. Perhaps this screws up their chemistry, who knows. Change in your opponent is possibly good when you couldn’t beat them before. Like they say, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. And they just “fixed it” and lost a ton of draft collateral in the process for such an injury plagued player. How’s that for perspective?

Well, i didnt think it would be a good move for us due to injuries and his ware and tear. I think the same for them. The big difference is i dont think it would damage them as much running game wise, if im right.

Yep it gives them three guys who Jimmy can dump the ball to underneath. They're gonna be tougher to stop for sure with him in that backfield.

I know cleveland does cleveland better than anybody, but why would the get rid of hunt?
Chubb is a monster. D'Ernest Johnson had 500+ yards and averaged 5+ YPC last year when he stepped in for an injured Hunt and Chubb. And both Hunt and Johnson are FAs after the year. Johnson will be cheaper to retain. Thus, Hunt is almost certainly gone elsewhere. Why not get a Day 3 pick for him now? The best they likely do with comp picks is a Day 3 pick for him in two years.
