The CBs weren't very good, but it wasn't all on them. IMO, they were oftentimes put in bad situations. All that off coverage, oftentimes playing what looked to be about 7 yards off the line in hopes that 4 pass rushers can get the the QB quickly every time was predictable and a recipe for disaster, IMO.

And when they did blitz, most packages seemed so poorly disguised.

IMO, this isn't a league filled with locked down CBs. At least I don't see this looking at other teams depth charts.

100%. Corner is a need for almost every team, though admittedly not to the same extent as the Rams. Every team could use another good corner. People act like our secondary room is the worst in the NFL. It's not. Yet statistically that is what they were. Even considering the talent level, they under-performed, and part of that has to be on the coach. This defense was top 10 statistically for a very long time. That is telling about the talent level present.

He's a UDFA though. Which doesn't mean he cannot be great. Best players should play and sometimes that's a guy who didn't get drafted. But I'd prefer not pinning all of our hopes on that.

Someone gonna get a steal with Tyson. To me, he's the best one in the draft. I hope we jump all over him if he gets to us
Same here. I love his tape. I thought he was wr1 since the beginning of the season. I won't be mad if he gets to us. But hopefully at least one of him or lemon does.

I'm telling you, dude is special. Anyone scared of the injuries needs to also understand that's exactly how we got Puka. Tyson would give us the best 1-3 WR combo in the NFL. That dude is gonna be a star. If you watch his highlights, he has so many ridiculous catches. Between him and Love, my 2 favorite offensive players in this draft.

They shouldn't do either. Just a better mix of coverages. They ran zone about 80% of the time.

How about more cover 2 man and more simulated pressures (which looked like Darnold's kryptonite when I watched him). And when you do play man, you don't put perhaps you slowest CB on the opposing team's fastest WR.

I'm just a novice, but IMO, the predictability hoping that a 4 man pressure can get to the QB killed them.

That was a pretty awesome Safety Blitz by Kitchens.

Shula has tried a FEW Times with Curl and he seems to hesitate. Then he gets caught in between.

Wade did some of the same things at times or similar. In 2019 against the niners & Jimmy G he F”d up badly & the ROTATIONS Matter.

Forbes & B. Young played like wuss ‘s in that Seahags game.Make a couple plays & The Rams are alright. I could go on about a couple of his play calls. There will be some CHANGES & GROWTH on D” . Shula will get in together.

There is something to be said about having a coach looking for his BIGGEST JOB of his LIFE trying to get to The BIGGEST GAME of his LIFE !

I thought of Puka the more you talked me into Tyson lol. We didn't get burden (and he was needed) but maybe we get one of guys this time.

Lol, its funny you mention Burden as I was big on him and so was Momento. Too many kept dwelling on the dumb ass practice reports when the guy was literally never in the news for anything bad. We really missed on him as YAC monster. He's got stop and go you can't teach and we sorely lack. Imagine if we didn't miss on him and had a chance at Tyson.....gawd damn, talk a about resetting the WR core. I hope we do nab Tyson if he falls. If that happens then you go get the DB from San Diego St. If we can't get Tyson because he's drafted earlier, the only others I would consider would be Tate or Love (probably both gone). At that point draft DB first then either target KC Conception (good YAC and kick/punt returner too) at that 2nd 1st pick or Brazzell in the 2nd.

He definitely had more success his first year than I thought he would, was not high on him given the laziness you put on tape and the rumors. He still makes a lot of mistakes on his routes - it seems - but the talent is undeniable. If they can fix that, watch out.

I laughed at those rumors as the guy played with a shit QB that last year yet every time I saw him catch and run, he showed elite YAC ability due to his strength to break tackles. He's going to be the reason that DJ Moore may be gone from the Bears sooner than later. We and a lot of teams missed out on a good WR there. Unless there is actual proof vs the such and such said this during draft time, I wouldn't buy it. Teams play games to get guys to fall all the time.

When a 4 man rush doesn't get home the fan says to himself how predictable the defense looks.

When a 4 man rush gets home the fan says wow this defense kicks ass, while celebrating defensive stops and turnovers.

But as it pertains to coverage it's not about being innovative. It is about diagnosing tendencies pre-snap as directed by their gameplan, and the defense as a full unit moving together to execute the coverage called and those reads.

And at the more basic level if you don't have the horses it doesn't matter what you draw up. There is no innovative answer to compensate for shit talent on the back end other than let's zone 'em up in two deep and make them snap it again. Which the Rams have been doing. And coming up short.

Love Tyson. He and Lemon are 1a and 1b for me. Not as big a fan of Tate, but keep seeing Tate being drafted 1st. I'd LOVE that for us. Only concern with Tyson is his injury history. He gets banged up a lot. He didn't return a lot of punts and kicks, but, when he did, he was awesome at it. Both he and Lemon would improve our return game 100%.

Honestly, with the way Speights played against the shecocks, I'd give him first shot at starting next to Landman. Speights lost any form of instincts he may have had. If we could get Rodriguez on the 2nd, good lord.

I mean he keeps messing up his assignments in the NFL, sure I think it can be corrected but lets wait to see. I'm not willing to say he's great just yet.

He got over 600 yards as a rookie that played part time as he hardly got playing time at the beginning of the season. I call that fantastic production.

This stuff is subjective of course. But I think they are about as bad as it gets. Only reason the entire season didn't look like that stretch of games there at the end is because earlier in the season the front was getting home enough to protect them.

There are many defenses that didn't have even that up front. So whether our corner room is the worst in the league or just in that bottom ten, it doesn't really matter. Whole fucking group needs to be blown up and rebuilt.

Not only is Boston a legit option up high for us, but he can function as a returner as well if required.
