Yeah the Hoecht nosebacker thing works sometimes and makes the center think a bit, but I'd rather have Speights in there.

Wasn't that McCullough? Every time the rb ran into him he got pushed back 5 yards.

They're moving different guys around on different downs/distances and packages. But I swear I've seen some Hoecht nosebacker type usage off the A gaps, which reminds me of our old Eagle defense under Shurmur.

don't think hoecht and Speights play the same position.

You are correct. But the Rams on some downs of late have been standing Hoecht up in the middle and threatening A gaps then sometimes rushing and sometimes dropping off. And I'm not crunching film or anything, granted, but when he's done that Hoecht is in there as a fifth lineman. Which means he's in there over Speights.
Different role. Hoecht has been lining up as an ILB pretty much all season. Much more recently since Reeder has been out. Primarily as a blitzer, but he'll occasionally drop into coverage.

You think they're doing that because we're light in the middle of our defense?

Verse and Young have taken a few snaps there as well, but not nearly as often.

Probably. Haven't really looked at the film to see what package is on the field and all that. But he's definitely doing the A gap threat then dropoff thing which was a staple for a couple years for us when we were short up front under Shurmur.

It's kind of smart in that Hoecht as another rusher prevents the doubles in the middle and gums shit up. But it sucks in that Hoecht isn't good in space in that ILB type of usage. His change of direction is too limited.

Went from finding a way to lose to finding a way to win. That's what it takes.

So... Any guesses on if/who we bring in before the deadline?
Good question, the O- line needs help especially if Havenstein is hurt again. A couple of teams like the Patriots may have a barn sale.

All season long the refs have been quick to blow the whistle when the D jumps and the Oline engages or points… today they decide to let the plays go!
That’s been the league wide trend the last couple years or so. I think they blew one dead when Stafford had the ball in HIS hands in the last game or two.
…and the refs blew the play dead the first two or three times tonight. Then the Rams got stung.

How about those Floridians!!!

(Fiske, Verse, Kinchens and DRob)
How you like that draft now????
I was pretty pissed at halftime about how the defense kept biting on the hard counts

But a 10 point game didn’t seem like a big deal against the Seahawks offense

The defense biggest issue today was discipline, or rather a lack of it

We can all gripe about the Puka ejection but honestly I thought it was a bit of a blessing. Sometimes these guys need to be saved from themselves when it comes to injury. I’m not saying the rams are intentionally reckless in that regard. But it was somewhat surprising how Puka went from reinjured to he’s gonna be okay and we’ll see to he’s playing. An extra game off isn’t the worst thing for him.

Happy we won. Like others have said, we should be buyers at the deadline. We can make a run.
Its a blessing in disguise now that we won!

How do we not have a celebration thread yet. Ugly at times but did enough to snatch the souls of the 12 man!

I take it. Keep it rolling.
