I think the problem is McVay. I really do not think he is able to run an effective offense without great pass protection.
Every offense needs pass protection to function well. But with McVay, if he does not have it, it seems he immediately plummets to league worst territory and the offense completely collapses. The Rams have too much talent (at least before Kupp's injury) to be posting these offensive score lines every single week. O-line injuries be damned. It was the same story in 2019. We blamed Goff then. I think he was just a scapegoat.
I like what I've seen from Robinson the past several weeks. If only we had the pass pro to maximize his skill set and let some routes develop. He should be a good #2 behind Kupp. I think Van Jefferson is a JAG but in a #3 deep route role to stretch defences he is a useful piece. Get healthy. Get o-line bodies and Kupp back next year. Get a decent RB (should be very doable be it via draft or free agency). GET A NEW OFFENSIVE GAME PLAN AND PHILOSOPHY, AND SOME FRESH IDEAS AND CREATIVITY. Improve in the trenches. I still think the Rams can compete in 2023-24.
We sure could use that 1st round pick right now.... but without Stafford, we don't win the Super Bowl last year, so the trade was worth it.
EDIT - If McVay's offenses need quality pass protection more so than almost any others in the NFL, you think the front office would disproportionality allocate assets to that area of the team. But it has not been so.
