Can you smart people please provide my rooting interests over the next couple of weeks?

Oh and one final thing, which kind of ties into the above...

From a seeding perspective, there is no difference between the 4 and 5 seed after that game is played. The winner gets the same home/road treatment regardless (in other words, the 5 seed essentially becomes the 4 seed if they win from a seeding perspective and where they would play).

We were the 4 seed when we won the Super Bowl.
as much as I would love to host the NFCCG….how sweet would it be to beat Seattle on the road in that game and then win the Super Bowl in Santa Clara on enemy turf.

Also...the best thing for this team if we can't win the division might be for the Niners and Seahawks to play a game for the one seed. It will be overhyped, talked about all week. And all week our team - the best team in the NFC West - will have to simmer in the media fawning over those two teams. Then come playoff time, we unleash on the NFC.
This right here. We are better when we are not talked about.....

Everything will depend on the early Seattle and Carolina game.

If Seattle wins, Rams basically needs Chicago to beat SF and SF to beat Seattle with no chance of winning the nfc west (Shanahan likely plays backups). Chicago would be set up for 1 seed as well if SF did beat Seattle.

Carolina wins, everything in play. A Chicago win would put rams back in control of own destiny for division. An sf win over Chicago sets up a week 18 game where we would need Seattle to win and we could steal back 1 seed.

End of day I don’t see Rams falling to 6. It would require SF winning out, Seattle beating Carolina, and us losing a game.

The 1 seed now hinges on Seattle/Carolina, and the way Carolina has played this year, them beating Tampa was the worst thing for us. They seem to respond better after a bad loss (like when they beat us after laying an egg against the Niners).

If Seattle wins that game, then the winner of the Niners/Bears has an inside track. Obviously if the Niners win, it sets up a game for the number one seed in week 18 between the Niners and Seahawks. If its the Bears that beat the Niners, I just dont see them losing to a broken Detroit team in week 18, but anything is possible.

And heres the thing....if the 1 seed ends up being off the table, I think I'd almost prefer to be the 5 seed to the 2 seed. And if we win out, we are the 5 seed at worst.

The 2 seed is all but assured to host the Packers. Even without Parsons, that's a team that could beat anyone. I'd likely pick them to beat the Bears or Niners if they were the 2 seed. After hosting the Packers, we'd likely host the Eagles, then go to Seattle.

As the 5 seed, we are going to either Tampa or Carolina - preferable to hosting the Packers IMO. Then it depends - if Green Bay beats the 2 seed, they go to play the 1 seed, leaving us to likely travel to Philly....but....

The loser of the Niners/Seahawks game will be the 6 seed if we win out - either team could beat the Eagles. And if they do, even as the 5 seed, the bracket could play out like this:

1. Seattle
2. Chicago
3. Philly
4. Tampa Bay
5. LA
6. SF
7. GB

Packers beat Bears (should have beaten them the other night, will likely be favored in the game)

Niners beat Eagles (this one is unlikely with the Niners defense but the offense is crazy right now and the Eagles have seemed broken all year)

Rams beat Bucs

Divisional round:

Packers at Seahawks
Niners at Rams

And then if the Packers were to beat Seattle, we would host the NFCCG.
So you’re afraid of Philly? A 2 seed guarantees 2 home playoff games if you advance with a shot at 3 if 1 seed is upset.

5 seed guarantees you’re on the road barring higher seeds all losing.

Root for Niners and Seahawks to lose this coming week. If that happens we will get the 1 or 2 seed if Chicago wins out vs Niners and Lions.

If Seattle beats Carolina we cannot get a 1 or 2 seed. A Niners win that sun night vs Chicago would incentivize them to beat Seattle the following week, but the Niners would get the 1 seed if they did based on their tiebreaker over us.

If Seattle beats Carolina and the Niners lose to Chicago, the Niners have no incentive to beat Seattle, and we would need them to beat Seattle or seattle
Would have a better record then us.

If we win out, from what I can tell we will be the 5 seed and playing Carolina or Tampa. We don’t go to Philly in this scenario which is great.

We should handle any other team on the road in my book.
Philly looks locked into that 3 seed which plays the 6 seed. I don’t see any scenario where we get a 6 seed, if we win our final 2.

I agree here but to add to it, we need to bring it all game long and not let up one bit if we take a big lead. For whatever reason, that tends to lead to our team sputtering to allow teams to come back.
