Wk 16 Winners Left: (Green is Favorable to US)
SF VS IND ( doesnt have to happen but will help)

WK 17:
LAR vs ATL
Sf vs CHI ( Must Happen to win Division)
Sea vs CAR ( doesnt need to happen but will help ALOT)

WK 18:
LAR vs Cards
Chi Vs Lions ( Must happen to get #1 Seed)
SF
vs Sea ( Must to win Div)

If this Plays out we will win Tiebreaker Vs Sea for #1 seed and Division
If Chi wins out they get #1 Seed and We get 2nd seed

If 49ers win out they win #1 seed
If Sea wins out, they #1 Seed
SF just needs to lose 1 game and Seattle just needs to lose 1 game - no must win situations

We have the tiebreaker over Seattle if we tie due to better head to head opponents.

Carolina Seattle is biggest game. I’ll explain.

If Seattle beats Carolina and SF loses a game to Indy or Chi, SF is eliminated and has zero incentive to play regulars week 18 to help Rams. SF will rest guys.

IF Seattle beats Carolina and SF wins against Indy and Chicago, we’re done before taking the field against Atl.

Little to zero pathway at the division if Carolina doesn’t win next week. Rams screwed themselves other night and against Carolina.

Seattle aint rolling off 10 straight wins....they will lose, whether it be in the next 2 weeks or in the 1st or 2nd round, they WILL LOSE.

Not saying they’re winning. Super Bowl. Just this is scenario for NFC West next couple weeks. Yeah, sorry, Kyle shanahan has a beat up team and isn’t going all out so rams can win division. Again, Carolina has to win.

SF is already in

Now that the whiners destroyed the colts, how does the playoff picture shape up? Best case scenario is whiners lose to the bears which is very possible, and Seahawks lose to Carolina. If that happens, the Rams can win the NFC West but maybe not the #1 seed? It would depend on the Bears final record. They play the whiners then Lions.

After the Colts did a charmin paper tonight, here is our possible outcomes

Path to 1 seed:
SF Beats Chicago, Seahawks lose to Carolina, Sea beats SF, we go 2-0

SF loses to Chicago, Seahawks lose to Carolina, Detroit beats Chi, we go 2-0

Path to 2 seed:
Chicago wins out, we win out, Seahawks lose to Carolina or SF

Path to 5 seed:
We go 2-0, Sea or SF win division
We go 1-1 and beat AZ, Sea loses twice
We go 1-1 and beat AZ, SF loses to Sea
We go 1-1 and SF loses twice

Path to 6 seed:
SF wins out, Seattle beats Carolina, we go 1-1.

If Seattle beats Carolina and SF beats Chicago, and we can’t win the division, my hope is that SF beats Seattle in week 18. That would likely send Seattle to Philly in the wild card round. I think those are our two toughest opponents. That would ensure we would only play one of them at most.

This is the path I want to see, even if the Bears get the #1 seed. Good chance the Bears could get bounced. If that happens, the Rams play home playoff games and host the NFCCG, unless we screw up and lose.

Just my opinion, but playing 3 road games to get to the superbowl and possibly more than 1 game in snow makes it very difficult, not to mention the wear and tear and mental tiredness of having to do all that travel.

After the Niners over Colts, here are latest NFC seeding odds per ESPN:

My take is just have the Rams take care of business the next two weeks and hopefully get back to full strength injury wise with Davante, Fiske, Dotson and hopefully Lake and let the chips fall where they may. There is no team that when healthy this Rams team can’t beat the the road or at home when they are at their best.

I’ve been a Rams fan since 1972 so I’m used to disappointment and woulda coulda shouldas.
But for the remainder of this year, I’m gonna focus on the positives:
-Rams are in the playoffs and can compete/beat any team in the NFL
-if the Rams offense plays very good to excellent they will outscore any team in the game. They are playing their best ball now.
-if the Rams defense puts pressure on a quarterback consistently throughout the game, they can succeed. They will figure out their weak downfield pass coverage.
-Nothing has come easy for the Rams this year. the Rams have endured every possible failure (two blocked kicks PHI, fumble on 1 yard line SF, 2 4th down TDs IND, 16 pt 4th qtr fall SEA). They should be ready for anything.
-Return of DAdams, Lake, Hav, Higs(?), Spoon will bring them back to full strength.
While Rams fans can never fully relax, it’s a good time to be one. Go Rams!!!

The 1 seed now hinges on Seattle/Carolina, and the way Carolina has played this year, them beating Tampa was the worst thing for us. They seem to respond better after a bad loss (like when they beat us after laying an egg against the Niners).

If Seattle wins that game, then the winner of the Niners/Bears has an inside track. Obviously if the Niners win, it sets up a game for the number one seed in week 18 between the Niners and Seahawks. If its the Bears that beat the Niners, I just dont see them losing to a broken Detroit team in week 18, but anything is possible.

And heres the thing....if the 1 seed ends up being off the table, I think I'd almost prefer to be the 5 seed to the 2 seed. And if we win out, we are the 5 seed at worst.

The 2 seed is all but assured to host the Packers. Even without Parsons, that's a team that could beat anyone. I'd likely pick them to beat the Bears or Niners if they were the 2 seed. After hosting the Packers, we'd likely host the Eagles, then go to Seattle.

As the 5 seed, we are going to either Tampa or Carolina - preferable to hosting the Packers IMO. Then it depends - if Green Bay beats the 2 seed, they go to play the 1 seed, leaving us to likely travel to Philly....but....

The loser of the Niners/Seahawks game will be the 6 seed if we win out - either team could beat the Eagles. And if they do, even as the 5 seed, the bracket could play out like this:

1. Seattle
2. Chicago
3. Philly
4. Tampa Bay
5. LA
6. SF
7. GB

Packers beat Bears (should have beaten them the other night, will likely be favored in the game)

Niners beat Eagles (this one is unlikely with the Niners defense but the offense is crazy right now and the Eagles have seemed broken all year)

Rams beat Bucs

Divisional round:

Packers at Seahawks
Niners at Rams

And then if the Packers were to beat Seattle, we would host the NFCCG.

Oh and one final thing, which kind of ties into the above...

From a seeding perspective, there is no difference between the 4 and 5 seed after that game is played. The winner gets the same home/road treatment regardless (in other words, the 5 seed essentially becomes the 4 seed if they win from a seeding perspective and where they would play).

We were the 4 seed when we won the Super Bowl.

Also...the best thing for this team if we can't win the division might be for the Niners and Seahawks to play a game for the one seed. It will be overhyped, talked about all week. And all week our team - the best team in the NFC West - will have to simmer in the media fawning over those two teams. Then come playoff time, we unleash on the NFC.

Damn FrantikRam, that is one hell of a breakdown of the possible playoff seating thanks for that deep dive.
