Got it.

I think I'm of the mind that they can't invest too much in the position this offseason. I'm thinking more bargain FAs.. and lower round prospects.

With that pick, though... I want an absolute stud athlete... someone who can return kickoffs and who, if there's a seam on a running play.. can just hit it hard and fast. I don't need a "complete back" at that spot as a rookie.
I don't think McVay and Snead share that opinion. But I could be wrong. Heading into the offseason, I expect their top priority to be finding a legitimate edge rusher to play across from Floyd. After that, I think finding a legitimate HB to pair with Akers will be near the top of the list (if not at the top of the list).

Don't forget about Kyren. If we add a 2nd back and they stay healthy Kyren as a 3rd can also return kicks.

It sounds like we're on the same page, but maybe you'd spend a higher pick than me? I wouldn't go higher than the 5th.

Maybe you'd prefer my 2 guys, ... I've been touting soon to be free agent D'Ernest Johnson since a few weeks prior to the trade deadline, and my hopeful 5'th round draft pick is Chris Rodriguez, Ky.
jmo.

Hard to pinpoint who The Rams need or want. I’m always a wait & see type.

Best player at a position of need.Once going into the draft it’s easy to circle players with value & need.

What The Rams we’re willing to give that Carolina DE/OLB for pay & draft picks shows the need for an edge rusher.
Really HATE Floyd lining up as RDE/OLB. Weird but he doesn’t look (himself) right over there. Getting rid of of Holllins,Garret & T. Lewis after Von Miller went as a FA shows how much things can change in a season.

I think they may need to reassess their "all or nothing"-like a approach with FAs.

I think the only Edge they'll get their hands on is an older, lower-priced FA. But... if the season goes well, they'll dive in at the trade deadline for one, if needed.

I think they DESPERATELY need a cornerback.. much, much more than they need to spend anything on an RB.. and I think they need to bring in a real vet AND a higher draft pick. Everyone on here wants to see them play more press coverage and there is just no way that happens with this group. No way.

Akers looks like he's back to what he was, physically, at the end of 20. That guy was someone many of us felt would be a top 10 back the next season. I just think you're going for insurance policies more than adding a guy who can share a workload.

Shoot.. Spending on a Center or guard would make more sense to me.. as it could help both run and pass.

We'll see, though. I understand your reasoning.

Johnson would be interesting.

I didn't know much about Rodriguez, so I did some quick reading. He feels a lot like Malcolm Brown to me and I'm looking for someone who is legitimately sub 4.4 in the 40.

If Akers has got his mind straight and all the drama is water under the bridge then I say keep him.
He's had some good runs.

Rodriguez is similar to Brown in size, although 7/8 years younger. He's rushed for near 2300 yards and a 5.7 ypc average over his last 21 games. A sub 4.4 isn't likely found with a big 224 pounder in the 5'th round or later. jmo.

I expect we go get an EDGE in the 2nd round. May grab a vet or a reclamation project in FA in case the rookie isn't ready to be a full-time starter.

I don't get the feeling our FO is going to think the same way. I think they look at the defensive failures this year as on the pass rush. I also don't care much about us playing press coverage. We weren't pressing that much (besides Ramsey) in 2020 with Staley. But that defense worked because we were playing off but not soft and passive.

And yet, he had a shit attitude early in the season, sandbagged us on the field, and then quit for a couple weeks. Plus, he suffered a major injury last year. Going all in on Akers is a massive risk. I don't see them doing it again. If he continues to be a stud, great. It's not going to hurt us to have a legit HB to spell him. If he regresses back into a problem or gets injured, we're not left out in the cold.
Shoot.. Spending on a Center or guard would make more sense to me.. as it could help both run and pass.
I'd bet against them doing that. I expect they'll use a pick on a guy. Maybe a third round pick. Maybe a Day 3 pick. But McVay and Snead haven't spent a lot of resources on the interior. That has angered people, but their approach hasn't changed over the years. And while people will point out the issues we had this year, it's hard for me to lay ridiculously rotten injury luck at their feet.

They drafted Logan Bruss to replace Edwards (we'll see if he does), and Alaric Jackson proved himself to be a guy who has a future. I'll just be happy if they grab a versatile OL to help our depth.
We'll see, though. I understand your reasoning.
Same. I'm trying to come at things from the standpoint of what McVay and Snead's history tells us they'll do. I don't necessarily agree that it's the best approach, especially with the OL, but they don't much care about my opinion lol.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear.. I definitely don’t expect to find that.
I’m talking about someone like Pachecho or Mostert.

Akers has literally forced McVay to play him more...have you not noticed that Henderson was cut and Akers has received over 70% of the snaps in 3 out of the last 4 games??

You're bringing up total yardage without mentioning the games Cam missed or was barely active because of his dispute with McVay. Ever since that was resolved he's become a big part of the offense.

And it's not just O-line issues my guy, Akers and Higbee are literally the only starting skill position players that are healthy.
I won’t say forced Akers Mcvay, more than earn his RIGHT. He also proved himself & TODAY A WILLING BLOCKER.

He had a GREAT block & set Hopkins up as Hopkins had an excellent block for him.

The announcer said Akers is playing at an All Pro level right now. What is Akers 23 ? RB’s coming out might be as old as ge is.

I am. Pacheco was a 7th rounder, I believe, and Mostert was u drafted.

I want an explosive athlete who has a little size. Not a big back, just not a small scatback.

Must be an explosive athlete.

Looks a lot like Cam is the man for 2023. I don't feel they need to shop for anyone here.

He has had two great games running through BIG holes most of the games. We need a guy who gets hit at the line and still goes forward three yards (or more)

I'm not going to sell him short. Akers turned things around weeks ago. He's been playing really well down the stretch. Yes, the OL has blocked better, but even Gurley looked like shit when our OL couldn't block in 2016. Both Akers and the OL are performing far better.

McVay seems to prefer explosive HBs who catch the ball well over bruising runners. There are very, very few HBs in the game who are explosive, skilled receivers, and bruising runners. I don't see any being available to us.

One thing I GUARANTY is in Team film room post game. Sean Mcvay is going to put 2 GAME PLAYS UP.

One on Akers run to the left & Brycen Hopkins is holding a block & Akers runs for 20.Brycen keeps going & as Akers down Brycen finish his block of pushing a DB over another on his AZZ!

Then Mayfield rolls right of the pocket a little & turns back Cam Akers has a DB coming on a delayed pass rush. Cam Akers picks it up ,Baker Mayfield steps around him & passes to a diving Brycen Hopkins making the catch(puts himself in a bad situation getting up), & Cam Akers takes the DB across the line & finishing his block with a pancake.

2 blocks by 2 different players, resulting in 2 Big Plays by each player & Keeping Baker Mayfield clean.

That is The WE Mcvay is trying to build within these players. Team First & protect your teammates. Akers didn’t either buy into or was to soft & has just improved his skill & will?

Cam AKERS ALSO was coming off injury & whatever emotional(home ?) things he was going through?

Those 2 players will be core players next season.

I saw Powell getting a jacket for Tutu in GB & Kupp giving him encouragement after plays.

When Durrant had his pick 6,Kendrick was running down the sideline with him.Not sure what the coaching staff thought, but it shows team & him cheering for a player that just took his job. Add Kendrick on special teams might get a team film post as well on punt returns.
—Cool to see for ALL THE Derion Kendrick HATERS!! On special teams sometimes you see 2 players on 1 gunner. Coach Joe D. Has one on one’s
Meaning RR31 & Kerion. I like Kendrick’s upside to get better & stronger. He gets beat early inside , RR31 in good shape inside. RR31’s man get by him down the sideline & cuts in at Powell. Kendrick finds his guy a hustles to a good spot & squares up on the guy & holds his block.

What I like about Kendrick NOW more than ever is he is a DIVA.Hentalks mad stuff. He gets into the other team. I think a little to much, but on that one on one play he wins & lets that other guy know it & that he is coming back again the next play.
If you watch the play Kerion looks a little like Jalen & RAMsey is going to take care of that young man. Kendrick is a rela Georgia DAWG!!
I tell everyone this as well, those DAWGS miss Kendrick!this season. They still might win another National Championship.
