I read a contract-breakdown for the Noteboom deal, and it reflected a $3.5M cap-hit for 2022.

Have not seen any details on Allen's deal. Did you see something on him, or did you mean Noteboom?

Could be.

I was paying bills, talking via Google Duo with my dad and dealing with family stuff all at the same time, so I could easily have got it twisted...

Edit: I am losing my freaking mind being so close to getting answers on Von Miller, AD's restructure, Stafford's extension and the hopeful acquisition of Bobby Wagner...

Noteboom's contract makes room for Miller. That is why Miller hasn't signed yet. Even after this year, Joe's cap number is still "reasonable" considering the top end is $23M+. Like I said it's all in the guaranteed money. More guaranteed and the players have no problem defering it. I think Joe can live on just $3M this year. Buy a cheaper car and smaller house. Eat ramen once a week.

I would expect something similar with Allen's contract.

With Allen ONLY counting $3.5M against the cap this season, I think we have the cap space to get Wagner depending on how flex Von Miller is.

I think they're ironing out the deets on some really sweet signings.

Saying this now... If we bring Von Miller back AND sign Wagner... we're winning the Super Bowl AGAIN in '22.

Calling this now.
I'll second your prediction. Rams have a championship D with Miller but adding Wagner would fill the weakest spot we've had since... London Fletcher?? Wagner would make the D truly formidable.

Just not the counterpoint to what I was saying.
I disagree. The point was that if your offer is competitive, guys are willing to take a little less if it means going to a winner, going to a good situation, and/or going home. Money matters, but it's not always the decider.

Come on. We know Stafford wasn't going to a team like the Lions. We know Von came here because he had a real chance at going to the SB. AD has said he would consider retirement without the right group around him. MULTIPLE players have said they would only go to a serious contender. There was a player last week (Calais) that said the right system would be more important than $.

Are you really jumping on the sword that players will not discount a couple million a year for the right situation?

It happens all the time.

I was reading this and thinking it had blue font. Stafford and Miller were traded, had no say in where they were going and got paid what their contracts paid them. If there are examples of guys who were the top free agents (like Wagner and Miller) taking less money, I'd like to see who they are.
As for Calais? Campbell I presume? He's kind of the perfect example. Allegedly loves the Ravens and fits in perfect, but still wants to test the FA market anyways. AKA, wants to see if he can get more $$ either out there or from the Ravens. I dont blame any of them, they should be going for the most $$ they can get

Hate to use this, but Brady.

He took less for years. Then, in going to Tampa, STILL took less.

Brady never took less in New England, they cheated their way thru that too. They funneled money to him thru the onsite sales, and as always Goodell looked the other way. Still and all, Brady remains the exception and surely not the rule. 6th round pick? 44 years old? Nah...
Anyways, it will all play out and guys will get what they want. Ultimately, @jrry32 is correct, if Miller's market value is say 20 mill, he might stay in LA for 18 mill, but wouldnt stay for 12.

If not Wagner... anyone for Myles Jack? (Just released by Jags)
If I am spending good money on an outside FA its for CB or maybe a vet S. Positions where its tough to find a rookie who can step in. ILB you can get immediate help in the draft just like last yr.

Lets get our inside linebacker in FA and db in the draft. The Rams seem to be better evaluators at defensive backs than inside linebackers because our linebacking group has routinely been the weakest position group since fletcher was regrettably jettisoned.

Yes we have some promising young talent but that's aways our story with this group. Just once before I die, I'd like have a proven bad ass mother fucker who can stay on the field. I want some bobby fucking wagner!

Is that so much to ask
