FWIW at least have an up-and-coming defense in ATL it looks like.Oh, 100%. I was responding to the other poster and know you probably know how crap Bidwell is. Still think the rest of what I said factors in.
Question: Would you rather the ARI job or the Falcons job. ARI, you can start fresh at QB.
Falcons are gonna pay out Cousins and most likely don't have a QB of the future in Penix but you're also prob stuck seeing if he can get it together for a year after he comes back from injury.
'Couple of local media guys were high on the idea assuming he actually was going to get the axe. Be interesting to hear what they think tomorrow...Hope the Cardinals don't hire him
I just read they re-did Cousin's contract. Supposedly, it makes it easier for them to move on from him. They will still take a sizable cap hit though.FWIW at least have an up-and-coming defense in ATL it looks like.
Maybe NYG is more appealing than either? Talent at skill positions on offense, defense isn't awful and looks like a pretty good young QB.
100 percent, NYG bell of that shitty little ballFWIW at least have an up-and-coming defense in ATL it looks like.

Disagree, Dart, Nabors, Boo, plus that defensive line. The Giants could be the Bears of 2026.100 percent, NYG bell of that shitty little ball

Bingo. What Morris shoulda done was make sure Penix KNEW that he was just filling in until Kirk heeled up from his shoulder injury last season and made Kirk the starter at the start of this season. Understand his role as a current backup no matter how good he plays (Penix). We'd be in the playoffs right now if it weren't for this mess. The prob wasn't Morris adding a young QB for the future. That is a completely understandable decision given that Cousins is a weak armed bridge QB you can compete with.
Where Morris went wrong was pushing the kid into the starting role before he was ready. Because the team lost with him, and we saw down the stretch what a focused Cousins could do. The moment they went back to Cousins I had a feeling our pick was gonna get fucked up, because he's a low end talent but also a scrappy sumbish back there.
That four in a row with Cousins sort of felt like a dagger in Morris. Like a "look what we could have been if this idiot hadn't started the kid" type deal. And of course this is very much from the outside as a casual when it pertains to Atlanta since I don't watch or follow them.
I would like to see LV pick him up. The rivalry between the Raiders and Chargers would make it interesting brother vs brother.I see Harbaugh in one of the bigger markets, it just makes sense. NY. Miami and maybe LV
Which makes me think he won't go to Vegas.I would like to see LV pick him up. The rivalry between the Raiders and Chargers would make it interesting brother vs brother.
Cousins was playing with a shoulder injury that he didn't want to disclose because he didn't want his job taken but Raheem Morris benched him. He got hurt in the game against the Saints. Also after a few games in last season, he said that he still wasn't 100% with the Achilles injury.Disagree. You would be correct IF Atlanta looked at Cousins as a bridge QB. Bridge QB is your (and others) term for Cousins. The Falcons certainly didn't look at him that way.
He signed a four year, $180 million contract with the Falcons on March 11, 2024. Cousins received $100 million in guarantees. His 2024 and 2025 salaries were fully guaranteed and he received a $50 million signing bonus. There are $10 million roster bonuses due on the 5th day of the 2026 and 2027 league years.
You don't sign a bridge QB for that money and terms. You certainly don't sign a guy to that money, then draft his replacement with the #8 pick in the draft. Idiotic. The idea of drafting a QB high like that is getting him into the lineup and not having to pay him for 5 years.
Of course if the Falcons had gone 24-10 the last two years Morris would have got away with it. But they didn't. 16-18 isn't going to cut it. And the way it was handled....benching Cousins.....made it worse. They benched him for the last 3 games of the season during their playoff hunt......after a win (7-7) in which he was asked to pass just 17 times. They were holding the tie breaker with the division leading Bucs (8-6) at that time. That screams mismanagement!!!
Bad move 1. Drafting Penix at #8 after spending 180 mil (100 mil guaranteed) on Cousins. They would have done themselves a greater good passing on Penix and drafting Bowers and teaming him with Pitts, London and Mooney. I know, genius hindsight but substitue anybody for Bowers instead of Penix.
Bad move 2. Benching their 180 million dollar QB during a playoff run, after a win at 7-7. In my opinion the benching would have been fine....they won that first game in spite of Penix that tied them at 8-7 with Tampa.....had they put Cousins back in the next week.
Bad move 3. Going 16-18 over 2 years with Cousins going 12-10 and Penix 4-8.
How fun would that be though? and boy the NFL would love itWhich makes me think he won't go to Vegas.
NFL overall needs to be more interesting as far as competition is concerned. There shouldn’t be teams that are 3-14. I would like to see much more even games where the tables can turn any given sunday, and action packed from beginning to end not a stale moment. That kind of football needs to return. Seriously hoping it does. How fun would that be though? and boy the NFL would love it
Well I certainly won't act like I know all that went on because I'm no where close to it. What I do know is if the schools and the players take a hit, the coaches needs to also. IF THEY DIDN'T KNOW...THEY SHOULD HAVE!!! it's like that old saying "the captain goes down with the ship!!!Oh he probably knew but the NCAA had zero evidence. As such, USC should not have been punished other than letting their players be total dipshits on campus. But if they should have been punished, all major football universities should have been punished.
But the Miami president had it in for USC and he was going to enforce a death penalty no matter what.
All major college football coaches know shit is going on in their backyard but they look away just like Carroll did. I don't blame him for walking away since he knew the Miami president was going to be a total dickhead in his punishment on USC. I 100% put the blame on the Miami president even though he knew shit was going on in his backyard.
USC should have sued the NCAA but they decided against it since if info. came out that the NCAA was corrupt, college football would go downhill. Hell, I bet USC pressured the NCAA to resolve their court case with the USC running back coach.
