I'm of the belief that the Rams will hold on to their vets like Higbee and Van Jefferson because they are good players. And they will probably get comp picks when they leave next year, along with Baker Mayfield and Ashawn Robinson when they leave THIS year. And I'm sure that Snead and McVay are considering those 2024 comp pick in their draft plans for 2023. I'm thinking Baker and Ashawn will get us two picks in the fourth round (at worst). So hold on to the vets this year, and then trade UP for something big next year, when they will have their first and second-round picks along with a couple extra mid-rounders.. With a little luck, the Rams can contend again next year as long as they can fix the O-line problem. The only player I'd consider moving this year is Allen Robinson. I just don't think he adds much considering his contract.

Of course I am usually dead-wrong and shocked as McVay and Snead continue to make big moves.

Baker is....

....going to be playing for either the Dolphins, Raiders, Titans, Jets or Bucs next season.....
the Rams will have a *new* #2 QB next year and it will not be Wolf or Perk. I'd be curious to see what becomes of Mike White pending what the Jets "brain trust" comes up with

I have been a big mike white fan since he came out—mocked him to the Rams that year. Lol.
Now that he’s getting his shot, he might be “the guy” moving forward for the jets.

It might be a bit naive at this early date to believe those 2024 high draft picks will still be ours, ... Snead = F*** those draft picks.

Those guys plus Ramsey have 2 years of guaranteed employment due to their contracts. The question is where? The problem is the cost for the Rams to move them.

Based on THAT, they probably stay Rams.
…but you never know. It didn’t stop them from dumping gurley, or trading goff.
I hear you.

I just think it’s different because they won a Super Bowl.
I also think Kupp & Donald are ICONIC Rams.

I think bakers mobility is overstated because he is short - so people think he is more mobile then he really is

here is something to consider.

Matt Stafford 40 time 4.81
Baker Mayfield 40 time 4.84
I think someone’s 40 time is not the end all on mobility. Quick feet and throwing arm angle can be a great solution to getting passes off while being chased. Baker looks good in that department.

IMO the first round picks are on the trading block as they were this year, but will carry more weight in 2023. Either for a vet proven edge or to move up into the bottom of the first round for an edge. There are some very good players ranked at the bottom of the first and top of the second. I could see them going OL in the third round, but more likely a RB. With the guys coming back from injury they have the makings of a good OL.

AD has no trade value as he would simply retire. He will retire next year regardless anyway. Why this is even speculated is beyond me.

For those thinking it ....step back from the ledge....we aren't trading AD.....smh
But ... BUT ... BUT ...

We can get multiple high draft choices, and wave a magic wand that will make cap consequences disappear!

... and Murchison is almost as good.

If I'm Mayfield, after what he's experienced in Carolina and Cleveland, I tell my agent that I want a 1 or 2 year deal tops, freeing him up for a possible return to McVays Rams when Stafford rides into the sunset...

Maybe he can do a cheap 1yr deal here, and Stafford retires after winning the SB next year and publicly hands the throne to Baker!

I have three posts from last week arguing for Mayfield to re-sign with the Rams, so I am in support and hopeful.

My primary argument was that Mayfield could view his next team as a critical decision for his career, and might not see the available opportunities to start as "Good" opportunities; and would take a one-year re-set-button to stay with the Rams.

Unfortunately, that hope is waning because of how Mayfield is playing. There will be some teams out there with good offensive talent that will be looking for a quarterback. Some will fill their needs through the Draft but others will need (or prefer) to go with the veteran options A couple vets will hit free agency and a few will shake loose via trade or release.

The annual QB- Carousel is usually fun to watch. A real-life-game of Musical Chairs with a few teams always left standing.

Barring injury or a collapse in the next two weeks ... I don't hope for either ... think Mayfield is earning himself a couple good starting opportunities to select from. Hope I am wrong. Love to be wrong when the Rams benefit!

Why? You do understand he's just keeping the seat warm for one of your favorites in Jimmy Garoppolo.
I sure hope that's the case so that the Jets move on from White thus having him join the Rams to be QB2
