wow did not see this coming but im a big tutu fan so I am very excited they look to likely give him more chances without kupp next year... my only fear is they will draft a wr in round 1-3 and tutu will again be the forgotten lost man because McVay hates him for some reason haha
I get where you are coming from....but I got 10 million reasons why Coach Mac will NOT forget him this year.

Tip of the hand moving forward. Likely going to get some more clarity after we finish with Draft and F.A's

I highly suspect that, when it's all said and done, we would have been better off spending that 10 million or more on other receivers.
Maybe. But in the limited targets Tutu did show an ability to run routes with good hands. Plus, he's usually gonna be the fastest guy on the field in most games. Why they didn't use him more downfield is a head scratcher.

Most of us thought he wasn't used as much because the coaches didn't feel he was as capable. But this signing might tell us different. Its possible he'll be a decent WR2 or WR3 when targeted more.

I gotta think they trusted him enough if they signed him to more money than expected. Question is, does Stafford trust him enough?

Tutu was the 19th WR in the NFL in yards per route run. Lets get him some more targets and see what happens. He made some big catches at clutch times last season.
I think a big issue last year was for the first half of the season, with the OL decimated by injury, Stafford didn't have the time to throw deep which limited Atwell's opportunities. Then after that I think he was just forgotten about once Kupp came back.

I don't hate him as a #3. I'd d terrified of him as a #2. I'm just worried about whether or not it will be worth the leap of faith.

I think you're all full of shit and simply repeating what has become conventional wisdom and residual Creed dick sucking.

Go look at Staffords "best of 2024 vid" and check out Atwell's play.

Going to end up the best signing of the season.

Injuries? He fucked up his shoulder halway thru his rookie season - missed 8 games.
Other than that, half a game due to a concussion - big deal. False narrative.

Has hands down, (intended) the best hands on the team and is our only field stretcher.

So let's try a little positivity assholes!

Whoa buddy, just cuz you put that shit in blue, calm down lol. Its ok for people to be skeptical when Atwell was drafted in the 2nd round and hasn't panned out so far. Honestly the real question isn't even if he can play it's if McVay will even play him enough to validate this kind of signing. No Kool Aid drinking over here until proven otherwise.

I reviewed the 2024 season and I think that part of the reason the Rams are fine with extending Atwell and moving on from Kupp is that from the weeks 2-6 when Kupp and Nacua were missing, Tutu accumulated 332 yards, an average of nearly 67 yards per game.

That's from the slot and was a higher rate of production than Kupp's 2024 numbers.

Wonder if McVay saw my panicked "The hole at WR is a problem" thread and realized....shit we better re-sign Tutu

It's been said multiple times and Jourdan referenced this today: McVay likes the competitive advantage of not subbing out of 11 personnel nor subbing players in with 11 personnel, it helps make plays look the same even when executed differently and hurts hurry up if you do it.

Perhaps McVay did not see enough advantage subbing in Tutu with our old offense (and a good Kupp) and now that we don't have a good Kupp anymore, the advantage will be swinging towards a different 11 personnel, perhaps even more subbing guys play to play and less hurry up?

Part of it is not wanting to head into the draft bring desperate for one position.

Now QB, WR, and OT are needs, but not desperate needs where you are forced to pass over a superior prospect at 26 for a desperate need.
