I was gonna post this today but Memphis beat me to it. Rams have good depth at many positions... but not at OT. Both McClendon and Arcuri had embarrassing run-right-by-you "matador" moments last year. And Leveston is an unknown.

Rams need someone with talent behind Alaric and Havenstein.

I would think we could get a legit OT within our first 3 picks. If not, we're going to need to pick up a OT free agent. McClendon could probably hold down RT if he had too, but we need a decent back up LT. The fact that we got a really solid LT as an UDFA was like a lottery ticket, but that only put off the necessity for us to use some draft capital at OT.

Not sure any rookie this year would be much better than McClendon if he had to start a few games as a rookie. Our back up RT might end up being a veteran camp cut.
Got my eye on Belton/NCState in R3 or Pierce/Rutgers later. Which means the Rams will never consider them.

Yeah McClendon hasn't been too good but I agree it doesn't seem likely we'll find a better depth option than him in the draft. If we're lucky they'll go get a project type who has some upside but he'll have to cook on the depth chart for 2025.

Looking at these OTs up top it's kind of ugly. Lot of guys who look like conversions to the interior to me. Maybe we just roll the dice at tackle and pick one up in the 2026 draft.

Hope not. Nothing derailed our offense more than missing the two OTs last year.

Hard to argue against the need for tackle. We have zero proven depth.

Even Noteboom had games where he could plug a hole, for example the Tampa playoff game in our Super Bowl year. Now he’s a free agent.

A Rookie could be ready year 1 especially if he’s in the building and not needed till later in the year due to injury.

But I can see a starter having a bigger impact. Especially a shutdown corner like we saw last year with Cooper
Dejean.

If we had to play Detroit or Philly tomorrow for the NFC championship, which position would help us most if we landed a dominant player?

My honest opinion:

1. Center
2. Cornerback
3. TE

If I am looking long term in the draft I go OT, CB, WR, TE, and QB.

To go to the Super Bowl this year I go:

Center - to run the ball down throats and give Stafford better protection to hit Adams and Puka.

CB - Shutdown a side of the field and commit more guys to stop the run of Philly/Detroit.

TE - A go to chain mover at TE to go with Puka and Adams would create defensive issues everywhere.

There will be some big time impact studs at TE, and CB in RD 1, though a bit of a move up might require moving some 2026 draft capital.

There doesn’t appear to be a ln impact center in this draft and Mcvay isn’t going that direction anyways.
League wide it would be cornerback. The Rams entire build on defense is set up to support a star CB and pass rusher (they just don't have one at CB now).

Center, btw, unless you have a guy doing line calls for a rookie QB is the least important of these positions.
