How’s Sellers looking today? Stats look OK but haven’t been able to watch

Explained a bit of Sellers' game on the Nussmeier thread. Maybe we should merge all of these threads into some giant "QB-of-the-future-with-Atlanta's-pick" thread?

Overall, I saw him throw with more touch than he did his freshman year, if his receiver doesn't try to one-hand it, he'd have two touchdowns through the air. Same massive arm strength, and he makes it look effortless, really compact delivery. Wish he'd throw the routes with more timing, wish he wouldn't play hero ball as often and live to fight another drive, ball security on the sacks is an issue. The hero-ball killed him on the safety/first sack and the third sack. I blame the left tackle on the second sack more than I do Sellers; he had no chance, no time, and he was scanning the field. No quarterback evades that sack, and a lot of them fumble that ball like he idd.

But the physical talent is tantalizing. Not just the designed run, but the third down improv in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter was just incredible. You don't see that from many quarterbacks, being able to have the ability to shrug off two sure sacks, scramble for the first down and then some, while evading other arm tackles.

I can see why Snead was there. I can see why he would be salivating. Sellers definitely needs to work on the full aspect of the quarterbacking position, but he's a coachable kid from all accounts, and he's not even old enough to legally drink yet. So much potential. If we do have a top ten pick from the Falcons in 2026 and Arch didn't come out, Sellers wouldn't be a consolation prize in the slightest. There are some plays when you watch him where you think of a younger Steve McNair.

I'll agree to disagree. I'd rather see kids get a choice rather than see kids lack them entirely. As for money? The more stories like Arian Foster (who - in his own anecdote - had to beg a coach to get him something to eat one night in college or he was, to quote him: "going to do something stupid") of athletes who lacked the funds to get extra meals (which, when you consider long practices and weight room stuff, they'd need as an athlete; look how much Michael Phelps ate, if you need an example).

NIL isn't perfect. The transfer portal isn't perfect. But I'd rather see college kids have some form of control and the chance to actually contribute instead of languishing on the bench rather than the coaches entirely controlling every aspect of their lives and college careers.
Strawman.
They had choices before, but had to sit a year. I don’t like that but hate the free for all.
I’ve got zero problem with them getting paid. I believe there needs to be a CBA.

There were a lot of places where that wasn't an option. Such a thing cost them a year of their career, and oftentimes, those players were stuck on the bench if they failed to win the job and unable to transfer again. If they transferred to the wrong school at the wrong time, they were shit out of luck. How is that fair in the slightest? And that's not even mentioning vindictive coaches who have ruined aspiring careers with their petty actions, trying to keep players from transferring to certain schools, benching them for various slights, etc.

Does it suck to lose players? Absolutely, it does. Does the transfer portal need to be addressed in a more fitting way? Absolutely, it does. But I'd rather see the players have options rather than the lack of choices they had before.

Most if not all of these kids had “a choice” actually multiple choices.

The stories of kids not having money to eat no matter how frequent or infrequent is really disheartening.
The athletes should have had meals and housing minimum.

My son says the pre made meals (possibly provided by coaches/trainers/nutritionists) are taking up his whole fridge and they have to battle for space lol.

As for NIL like many things, it is a mixed bag.

Yeah.. again.. I think they should be paid.
And the portal system should have way more stability and structure.

Can’t see it in my posts? Got it.

I’m not clear on what you’d change about the portal. What are your suggestions? What do you want to address?
