So, my three kids were newborns during the GSOT. I think the GSOT is the greatest sports story in the history of sports.

If I take my grown kids to this movie, will they learn what the GSOT was, or is it to narrow focused on Kurt and his relationship with Brenda, etc.

I mean, not everything there is to know about the GSOT, but enough that it's worthwhile to take them to see it?

I know some will really want to see this movie. I have to say though... I don't have any interest in watching it. For me... there is just no way it will tell the story of what really happened. I lived through it. It's like when they try to make an amazing book or series of books into a movie... it ain't the same. There's just no way that a sports story can be told properly on the big screen for me. Plus... the football scenes don't look realistic to me.

I'll go back up on my porch now and wait for the next trespasser that steps foot in my yard.

Yeah those of us that lived through it every day from start to finish could be bugged on a lot of things. I try not to go into movies thinking they would live up to expectations so I prepare for bad. So far many of us don't like those small Sears Wishbook jersey numbers. The non-likenesses can also be a turnoff but at least they capture Kurt and Brenda close enough. That Lakers showtime movie/series is another one where I don't like the actors chosen. Buss is played by that ugly asshole from ConAir... just a bad choice. But back to this movie, I'll end up seeing it streaming somewhere. But when I want the real thing I'll just rewatch the docs, games, and interviews from back then.

It's a love story basically, focusing more on Kurt's journey up to the GSOT. Covers Northern Iowa, Packers, grocery store, Arena League, then STL. You'll get a couple of lines from Bruce and Faulk. lol. I guess the last act would be about the Rams with Vermeil and Martz? Help me out some of you who also saw it.

Finally saw the movie tonight with the wife.

Movie was just about what I expected-- overall engaging and interesting, a couple over the-top schmaltzy scenes, and a few heartfelt well done scenes. Gotta love the Rams stuff!!! Wish there was even more of it.

A couple surprises:

(Movie spoilers ahead, for those who haven't seen it yet):

Can't believe they left out the story about Warner's missed opportunity with the Bears in 1997. They call right before his wedding day, and Brenda says I'm sorry but we can't postpone the wedding, so they reschedule the tryout until after the honeymoon in Jamaica the following week. Only problem is, Warner gets bit by a bug (either a spider or a centipede probably) and his throwing elbow swells up to the size of a grapefruit, so Kurt has to cancel for a second time. Then the Bears say "screw this guy" and never call him back. I mean... what a dramatic plot twist there! Really thought they'd include the Jamaican spider bite story, that seems like such a weird and freaky way to *almost* miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime.

Second thing that surprised me... they went almost directly from the first game in 1999 (vs. Baltimore) to the Super Bowl game. They literally didn't even spend 30 seconds recapping that amazing 1999 season. Nothing about beating the Niners for the first time in 17 tries, nothing about "the Catch" vs. the Bucs... and they even left out "the Tackle" on the one yard line. I know it's not a movie for us Rams diehards, but I thought they'd give us at least a little more of the miracle 99 season.

Warner was my favorite player like many I'm sure, but I must say I have soured on him due to his bitterness to the Rams organization. Right or wrong he should be grateful instead he seems spiteful.

He calls AZ his home and his team he acknowledges. Not sure why Stan Kroenke didn't make a concerted effort to bring him back into the fold after he bought the team. There is a completely new regime why are they being penalized. Warner for being such a strong Christian sure doesn't act like one. JMO

Opinions about Warner and his accomplishments with the Cardinals being more impressive are irrelevant.

The bottom line and facts are crystal clear.

There will never be a movie made about Kurt Warner playing for the Cardinals.

Why?

Because the Warner/Rams story is a fairytale that came true.

Anything with Warner connected to the Cardinals is not even close to being comparable.

Agree with all you said. Felt like I had to see it in the theaters just in case. But really could have waited until it hit one of the services.

It is really more of a love story than a man becoming a champion.

From my seat what happened when Kurt left the team was mostly a Kurt thing.

Agree !! But The Direction The Rams went is the reason for it.

I don’t know how the movie plays out? I will watch it when it comes out on video & pick it apart on how Hollywood Kurt Warner went with the story if he even had a say on how things were ?

I guess like always I can post all day long about this.

Truth is F’ Kurt Warner for any hate he still might have for The Rams.Morher F’er still has to come to SOFI to work no matter where he calls home.If he is flying to NY more power to him.He ended up being ELI’s Bitch.

Funny thing though is his confidence in himself is(was) amazing.He is an X-FACTOR. The Great Show on Turf was a big part of his legacy.

My whole thing with Kurt Warner’s falling out though was ALL on MIKE(MAD). He was the start of it all once he wanted to become BIGGER than the team & players.

I actually HATE Martz & glad he & his 9er self got what was deserved.

I also think Jay Z was the WORST & Shaw was just a DUMB FOOTBALL Guy who looked at $$$$ DOLLARS $$$$
& NO SENSE!!

The best thing is The Rams Beat Arizona & Warner can Kiss Stan’s ring.

The fact the rap-est(allegedly) is retiring & beat Warner in the SuperBowl just makes the circle keep going around. I think of Stan taking the Rams to St.Louis & Pittsburgh have HOF Rams in Greene & Bettis when it was all done.

I have some Duval Love for the drama & the story. Just hope your able to see The Rams beat The 9ers at SOFI before they go to The SuperBowl.

I’ll be jealous, but happy for all The Ram Fans that get that home field experience.

I’ll call BS & say Kurt Warner is a survivor & if he didn’t have the will to succeed he never would have. He has the Giants I believe at 7-7 ? It doesn’t matter though.

I felt the same as @dieterbrock. Kurt got noticed in Arena League but it was his time in the Euro League that got him the backup position in 1999.

It was at the end of the movie I discovered it wasn't as much about football than it was about him and Brenda.

Us purists would have a hard time thinking this movie was fantastic.
