Been saying that Robinson will be this year's "Matthew Stafford." That's, a good player stuck on a shit team or shit circumstances that finally comes to a good team and shows the League the Superstar he is and helps lead his team to Glory.

We were all excited after the signing. We were all excited after training camp. But go look at the All-22 film from last year man, he got literally zero separation. Like zero. If he wasn't schemed open from route concepts he was hardly winning his matchup. I think his play has just fallen off a cliff the last two years. People said his terrible last year in Chicago was an anomaly but it obviously wasn't.

If McVay/Stafford couldn't get him going, then how do you think other teams value him? Such a bad situation for us with his contract, it's not surprising to me teams would want a pick to move him.
Interesting, considering all ive heard and seen from other vids is that he was open a good deal of the time. I'll go watch it, though. Also as far as seperation goes, is he not known for making those contested catches? That was kind of the point of bringing him in.

Looking at Over The Cap, the least damage he does is to be traded or cut AFTER June 1st (unless I'm reading it wrong).

So, we have a lot of time to chew on this issue...

Ref:

I know you can do a post-June 1 cut designation, but can you do the same with a traded contract?

I'm not sure where this "staff had no time with ARob in the offseason" comes from? The exact opposite is true. ARob was the talk of training camp bc he was catching everything Staff was throwing to him. There's even video evidence of it on youtube.
Yet another example of why I think he struggled with the scheme. His skills should have shown in this offense otherwise. Cooking in 7s btw doesn't mean much, that's just him running pre-determined routes. It's when he's out there making reads on the fly and needing to be on the same page as the QB that not fully grasping the offense would hurt him.

If it were one off year I'd say lets take a chance on him. But now its two years in a row. More like WR3 type numbers. Definitely not worth what it would cost to keep him. If they have to throw in a day 3 pick to make it happen I'd say do it.

The guy had more catches and yards in his rookie year on a really lousy Jaguar team with Chad Henne and a fellow rookie, Blake Bortles, throwing to him than either of the last two years. He also played in only 10 games his rookie season.

Who in their right mind is going to take on his contract with that kind of fall off?

I agree, and I think we both agree, that the narrative that Staff didn't have enough offseason time with him is false. Especially if you think that time together doesn't mean much. Which was my point.

You're about ready to hear my biggest criticism of McVay so far;
His inability to get Tutu Atwell and Allen Robinson anywhere near where they need to be involved in our offense.

You simply cannot spend that much cap room and/or draft capital on two players that play the same position and not get even one of them involved more.

All right.
Now back to my usual cheerleader positive outlook happy self.

Agreed. Tutu got some PT but needs to be regularly involved.

My biggest criticism would be acquiring smaller RB’s with good hands, but aren’t involved in the passing game very much. If you’re not going to feature a big punishing back then use YOUR type of backs correctly and maximize their abilities.

I think you need to add Brycen Hopkins to that list as well, not technically same position but still

However, he may get traded after June 1st...during camp, if a team loses a starter.
The problem I have with the way we've done business lately is it always seems to leak that we're seeking a trade and want to move on from a player. Every trade we lose because really how much leverage do we have after the league knows we want to move off of someone? I dont get that strategy at all. Do we really have that leaky of a ship? Are we intentionally giving the info to insiders to gauge potential interest around the league, while knowing we're tanking our own leverage? It's just so weird to me and happens with every trade.

That might be McSneads second biggest mistake.

Nobody will ever accuse any of our running backs since McVays been here of being in beast mode.

And there have been definite times when we've needed that ability.
I like a good, tough lead blocking fullback as well.
There are often drafts where you can get a hellacious full back in the 5th or 6th round.

Or he could get traded at the trade deadline if Rams season isnt going well and a team wanted help for the stretch run
I have to think this is their real plan. Get him going in camp. Feature him early. Flip him to a contender at the deadline.

Again, I need new glasses. I was perusing the forum when I saw your last post about “Alien” Robinson.

Don't teams know you want to trade somebody the second you call them and ask, "What will you give us for ___________ "??

His salary (and bonus) isnt guaranteed in 2024. Would make him an attractive pick up for a team at the deadline *if* he's producing
