Supposedly there were slim pickings after the 1st round at tackle this year. Some nice guys at the top but no depth.
Which I think is the reason next season The Rams might be thinking OT early 2026 draft.

Nice they add depth with experienced O’Lineman. They’ll still be able to develop some of the younger players as well.

Yep, the focus will be on OT, CB, and QB.

@sloramfan Glad your still here and haven't been hospitalized again. No offense to your post. Having an aisle seat and moving is only a small issue with flying. The cabins are pressurized and increase the stress on an our bodies. That is horrible for anyone who clots.

I'm not sold on your treatment plan but you do you. I know people who have had clots but do not have a clotting factor. They only took anti coagulants for short period of time. I agree with @kurtfaulk that maybe you should have your blood checked. You may not need anything.

I gotta stay out of this thread. Prayers for Alaric and good luck members if you have medical issues.

i agree with you guys about me being out of the loop with blood clots... im sure there are several different roads that are different than the one i traveled... maybe more serious, maybe less...

as far as seriousness... 33% chance i never leave the hospital with what i had... my sister was livid... because she knows how little i trust the pharma/medical business side of curing disease... look at your commercials during the game... they used to be car sales... not in today's world, its almost all big pharma selling stuff that has way to many side affect possibilities....

give me the natural method...

and only when there's obviously no other choice... i'll choke down the big pharma/medical alternative...

you can believe my story or not... i don't think i have the ability to make that story up...

go AJ and wish you well...

The problem with Humphries is staying on the field. If we find ourselves without Jackson to start the season and Hump goes down game 1 then it's a similar scenario to 2023. Let's hope not. Trading down and getting an extra 1st next year could turn out to be fortuitous. I'm sure Snead is looking at depth charts for a possible trade.

McVay had a press conference today and made the following comments / quotes on Alaric Jackson:

... really unfortunate
... serious thing
... appropriate medicine and treatment needs to be worked-out
... pray for him .... hoping for healthy and safe recovery
... many examples but each is independent ... day-at-a-time
... Humphries we know and have a lot of respect for
... doing well and on a plan to get healthy as quickly as possible
... not in Hawaii ... in Detroit, with family

McVay's response ended with some ominous comments
... needs to be a dialogue between him and the doctors as to what is best for him as a human being, and then you talk about football after that

My Opinion:
Seems early in the process, a fluid situation, with a lot of uncertainty, and most any scenario is possible.

Ouch. Maybe I should take my comments back. Did the Rams NOT do their due diligence on his blood clots BEFORE dolling out the cash? Yikes.

I don't pretend to know whether that's even a reasonable question.

Maybe they did a thorough medical due diligence but it's difficult (or impossible) to determine with any degree of certainty whether the condition will come-back.

I think it's a fluid situation, and we won't know for some time what the end result will be. I don't think it makes much sense to speculate (positively or negatively) how this will play-out for Jackson and the Rams.

an issue that i overlooked in my previous posts is that yes, i do treat my clotting with natural thinners...

HOWEVER, being a construction worker, i am exposed to constant flesh tears, jabs and many other minor scrapes and scratches that to me are not that serious, but are very annoying...

these are amplified because even with the smallest scratch, it appears as if it is so much more severe than it looks... i go to my truck , i clean it up and put a dab of neosporin and a bandaid on it to help plug the usually very small hole,or scratch, and im back to work...

now pro football entails a lot of extreme collisions. that most likely create minor cuts and abrasions, and like my coworkers who usually notice the blood running down my hand or leg (i wear shorts a lot to work) before i do, and because the injuries are mostly very minor, they just look bad... i can see how this can be a problem on the field, like it is for me, at work.... no one wants to work next to someone with blood on them...

aleric will have to take thinners if he has clotting issues... the blood everywhere is the problem for coworkers, as well as AJ...

the rams may have made a terrible mistake, even though aleric may be fine and able to control his clotting, he may not be welcome on the field... i know my fellow workers deal my problem in a joking manner... maybe not so much in the world of pro football...

2 more cents added to my other 2 cents...

Many of us hope for an elite CB every year, and the Rams never draft one.
We pick up one with a high ceiling from the Commodes last season. Let Secondary Coach Aubrey & Co. do their work with this young man. I believe he and Cobie Durant are the main reasons the Horns have not been too concerned with pursuing high draft round CBs.

To think that the Rams did not have the information to make an educated decision here.. with a guy they've had for years, is a little silly, imo.

Yes, playing risky sports while on blood thinners is not advised. There is no law against it. I’m sure it would be up to the Doctor overseeing the patient and then, ultimately the patient himself. However, how often do people who play basketball or football end up with a serious cut that could possibly cause enough blood loss to create a critical situation? It seems overly precautionary.

And, Jackson has been playing despite being on something to control his clots, because this is not a new problem.

I had a full renal infarct years ago (blood clot fully blocked the artery into my right kidney).

The issue with sports (I asked because I was rolling BJJ at the time) wasn’t open wounds, but bruising. With a lot of thinners in your system, bruises could get really out of hand and dangerous and torso bruising could lead to potential internal bleeding.

Just think of how bruised up linemen get after a game…

i was thinking about bruising when i mentioned in another thread, the coagulation problem created by blood thinners...

in my line of work it's the minor scrapes and cuts...

in pro football it's gotta be the bruising ...

sigh...

i just hope he gets through it soon... praying for ya AJ...
