Man, it’s a shame if it’s really over for Akers. He seemed to have so much potential a couple of years ago. It seems odd the way this thing seems to be playing out.
I really think the injury affected his lateral movement.....who knows?
He may not be a great fit for the offense.
I hope Akers is ok and get another shot somewhere else.
Rams may have to cut him.....I doubt they get more than a 7th round pick for him.

.

Had such high hopes for Akers.

It was weird this season how he would get hit 3 yards behind the line yet Henderson would always make yards before being touched.

Something wasn't right there in the dynamics when Akers was on the field.

Im not trading for a RB.
Henderson is a good fit for the running game, Brown is a solid depth guy.

I wouldn't rule it out if we can make it happen for the right price. If Akers is DONE as a Ram, and with Henderson entering free agency after this season, we're likely going to use a draft pick for one anyway. jmo.

We've seen how special this offense can be with a great HB. Johnson and Hunt both have massive potential. And while Moss may not have the same upside, he's a bowling ball of a HB (will remind you of C.J. Anderson) who catches the ball well. We could use some power at the position. I don't think any of these guys would cost more than a Day 3 pick.

I can't imagine that actually happening although one can hope
That's what I said about Ramsey, obj, Stafford, miller...Rams seem to make these crazy trades when it seems like it's impossible. Only seems like their MO. I personally not too thrilled if it happens. I wasn't too thrilled rolling into the season with hendo and Akers who have never played a full season. Bringing in McCaff doesn't bring anymore security, But rolling in with 2 injury prone rbs didn't bother mcvay.

Well, after watching Akers last several games completely ignore holes and the fact he really hasn’t looked all that fast or good since injury i wouldn’t be sad to not see him anymore. Henderson, Brown, and Williams back hopefully soon would be an ok rotation. We know Brown hits holes and grinds yards so I’d rather see Hendo starting, Brown spelling, and Williams as scat back option.

Not to mention fumble-itis

CMC brings excitement, but he's so injury prone I can't see the Rams giving up so much to get him. He is a great weapon in the run game and pass, but how many games has he missed since being drafted?

Akers was atrocious in that Tampa game, he definitely would've been the goat of the game if we had lost.

24 carries for only 48 yards at 2.0 YPC, and also 2 crucial lost fumbles.

Just sayin

This was the quote that had me interested.... Uncharted territories???

“I would say it’s more like we’re dealing with things internally. I don’t know, exactly…these are kind of uncharted territories,” McVay said. “Out of respect for the situation, I want to keep it internal. You guys will have more information later on.”

I agree that's the intriguing part.

"Uncharted territory" is mysterious as hell, and it doesn't sound good.

That is odd.

@OldSchool where did you get this quote from your post?

The coach said that Akers was physically OK and indicated that the situation was not football-related or performance-related as it pertained to the Rams’ run game as a whole.

Shitty. So tired of this shit ass RB room. Maybe this time that Hendy/Brown duo will magically be able to carry the load. I doubt that of course but we'll see. We really need that ground game so hopefully they don't abandon it in the first half in this one.

Here's one source for the "uncharted territory" quote:

Henderson’s comments are also interesting. Sort of feeding the mystery.

He’s good,” said running back Darrell Henderson, who is likely to get most of the Rams' workload in Akers' absence. “We trust that he’s going to be good. So he’ll be all right. We’re going to do this for him.

Henderson claimed he doesn't know much about the issues keeping Akers away from the Rams.

“That’s on Coach and Cam to talk," Henderson said. "I don’t know what’s going on. ... You all probably know more than I know. I just come in and go to work.”

But when asked if he thinks Akers will be back with the Rams this season, Henderson replied: “Oh yeah
.”
