Well, the bye is coming at the right time. They need to get healthy, but also it gives them a week before the trade deadline where they can focus on upgrading the roster even if it's using a late round pick or two to get a few guys like they did with Corbet a few yrs ago.

This was the quote that had me interested.... Uncharted territories???

“I would say it’s more like we’re dealing with things internally. I don’t know, exactly…these are kind of uncharted territories,” McVay said. “Out of respect for the situation, I want to keep it internal. You guys will have more information later on.”
I agree that's the intriguing part.

"Uncharted territory" is mysterious as hell, and it doesn't sound good.

Not anymore, the league changed it you can't trade a conditional pick like we used to. Have to wait until the pick is rewarded to trade it.

It's attitude with Akers. McVay has basically flat out said it. "Lacking urgency" = lazy Mofo.

McVay putting Akers on blast after laying an egg against the Bills must've put him on thin ice

Akers is as good as gone.

The NFL is a performance league and his play has been absolutely atrocious.

I only wished that McVay had "worked things out" with Akers and had benched him during the Cowboys game for non-performance, instead of giving him all the carries and pissing away a very winnable game.

Obviouly, the Oline has been a nightmare, but I'm not buying this nonsense that they are responsible for Akers being hit 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage on each carry.

If you're going to tiptoe behind the line instead of attacking north/south, defenders are going to eat you up.

Akers has simply not performed at an NFL calibre level and his unwillingness to man up and pass protect has contributed to Stafford being pummelled by defenders.

Akers played the same way in college and so I am unsure why the Rams and Rams fans are at all surprised.

However, I'm reluctant to call him a bust because he was never as good as his draft position in the first place.

McVay, finally, has seen enough.

When you give people a puzzle they try to solve it, really it can be simplified to that level.

I'd say that speculation is unnecessary and the trying to trade him premature and incorrect based off what McVay has said. It's not football related which would in my mind eliminate attitude. As McVay said let the situation play out and we'll get more information. Out of respect for the player but we know there's little of that around here for Akers or anybody else that's in the fans dog house.
Akers' apologist!

I'm not sure where the notion that people are disrespectimg Akers is coming from. We are all speculating based on how McVay responded to why Akers wasn't available. It sounds like Akers may be gone so people are naturally going to start thinking of who can replace him. I'm sure all of us hopes he is mentally ok.
Yup. All of want him to be ok. But the signs are pointing to him not being on the team for long. So naturally we start thinking about what they will do to replace him. His family can prioritize his mental and/or physical health over everything else. As fans our focus is on the team. No matter what the situation is with him things have to keep going.

My whole issue is such a short time after everybody around here was concerned about Tua's health and mental well being after the concussions people are jumping to conclusions about Akers and his well being. We know it's not play related or McVay wouldn't have kept running him out there remember Hendo and Brown had no carries last week. If Akers performance was an issue this isn't how that game plays out. Hendo had more snaps than Akers but didn't run the ball that really doesn't sound like a coach that's tired of Akers on the field.

When we don't know what the issue is I just find it very shitty people are trying to trade him and celebrating getting rid of him potentially instead of thinking about the player especially as I said so soon after all the concussion issues and worrying about players. When it's Akers right while we have a 5 or 6 page thread about people shitting on the guy on the field we're treating him like this. Let the situation play out all this speculation just doesn't sit well.
This isn't true. I've been shitting on him for more than a year...

I'm sure but relying solely on a rookie RB that has hardly played is foolish if you ask me. Maybe pairing him with Hendo, I guess, but I'd be underwhelmed there. Hopefully I'm proven wrong if they take that route. I still think they'll add to the running back room somehow.
Especially one that got hurt in OTA’s was on IR and upon return suffered a high ankle sprain on the opening kickoff. Yeah that’s someone we really want to rely on.

If we want a HB, I bet we can acquire one. Call the Browns up and ask about D'Ernest Johnson or Kareem Hunt. Alternatively, call the Bills up and ask about Zack Moss.

Man, it’s a shame if it’s really over for Akers. He seemed to have so much potential a couple of years ago. It seems odd the way this thing seems to be playing out.

Might be as simple as the guy let the SB and his limited success go to his head.

The crazy thing is he must have worked his ass off to come back from his Achilles, yet now he is being lazy? Odd... but then again maybe he just let last yrs successes make him think he is above everything.

But he did little of anything when it mattered last year. It would be delusional for him to think that he did anything but give Tom Brady a chance to come back with that damn fumble he did in the divisional round.

Im not trading for a RB.
Henderson is a good fit for the running game, Brown is a solid depth guy.
