You know how in that movie the mom was always sayin "you'll put an eye out"? A player once was injured in the eye by a flag. Orlando Brown. He sued for $200 M.
I'll think it over. We DO need a protest. What about yellow t-shirts that say something like YOU SUCK REFS in big bold letters and we all stand up? I don't know, just thinking out loud.
That was when refs could put buckshot in the flags. The ref threw the flag hard and AT the player and it hit Brown in the eye causing significant and permanent damage. That incident actually mandated a change in which the league insisted that refs could only put certain things in the flags.
Today's flags couldn't do that.
I wouldn't throw anything onto the field. Between video and stepped up surveillance and the fact that we're talking about it... that could get awful expensive for anyone who did it.
But maybe use some flashmob tactics! Post a set of instructions that Rams fans can download to their phones and put out the word to all rams fans. Something like
1) On the first call against the Rams, immediately start chanting, "REFS ARE BOUGHT! REFS ARE BOUGHT!" It's one thing if a chant like that were started and took time to catch on, but using flashmob techniques, the second they threw the flag, it'd hit and seem like an organic uprising. Other Rams fans will catch on much faster than if just a few guys start.
2) Alternate with slogans and "CHEATERS! CHEATERS!" Any slogans should be short and easily understandable. No more than four syllables. No swearing. It would be great if the broadcast team actually had to talk about the refereeing situation. Should only be 2 slogans so folks don't get confused.
That's my idea. It allows everyone who's a Ram fan in the stadium to be "part of the action" as well as to "be in on it". As well, no one has to risk jail or losing tickets or being barred from the stadium. Plus, stuff like that really pisses off the NFL because those kinds of slogans can't be filtered out of the feed. They're too intelligible.
