We all talk about how the Rams say "F them picks" and trade away draft capital.

But let's not forget how many great coaches we've lost, too.

Shane Waldron, Zac Taylor, Kevin O'Connell, Matt LaFleur, just to name a few, just on offense. All of these guys have had considerable success in their new jobs..
Staley, Pleasant, Evero, Phillips, Berry.

Seriously it has to be the most assistant and coordinator turnover in the history of the NFL over a five year span without a HC getting fired. I would bet a lot of money it is.

Has he though. Not so sure of that.

Someone was stumping in another thread about the need for a good run game coordinator. I think they were right.
Akers looked pretty damn good as a rookie, and Henderson improved quite a bit too.

I got a good buzz going on. And now, fuck it. We won the SB last year, got some studs on the team and can still go on a run. IF NOT, we RELOAD this Off-season and win it next season!

LETS FUCKIN GO BOYS!

I'll give you that the guy has to be good if McVay loves him that much, and yeah Akers did some good things early on. But still I just don't get that feel looking at his guys like he's some next level teacher of the game.

And the TE group. I mean damn. Coaches should be able to flip position groups and be effective too, and they do when they're great.

Guess we'll wait and see what falls out. Should be interesting.

Someone please explain to me why Blanton is active on the 53 yet Roger Carter is still riding the pine ?

Passcatchy > Physicality.

Carter is known to have very good receiving hands. In 4 games Blanton has 4 special teams snaps, total. Carter was a special teams demon in college. I just don't get it.

There's a lot of shit that doesn't make sense this year yeah. I mean what is the TE coach telling McVay about Carter. You'd think he'd be in his corner given his RB background and backfield experience.

Can’t believe they offered 2 firsts for Burns. Wtf is Snead smoking?
A Super Bowl LVI victory cigar.

The Rams have a proven track record of trading 2 1st round picks for "foundational" players (Stafford and Ramsey.)

Rams thought Burns was talented enough at edge to be worth the price. Sounds like Burns got pressures despite constant double teams. I trust McSnead and wish the trade had gone through.

McVay was trying to put him in that head coach track by teaching him the pass game the way he learned it with that group. But the pieces he has all look like shit. There is no way I'd move him back, either. McVay might, so you could be right, but I'd fire his ass for the way this TE group looks. Accepting that is how you end up like Fisher.
So what's wrong with the TE group? They look about the same as every other year. I mean at least Higbee has some decent numbers from what I can see.

So…this year’s trade frenzy turned F them picks into a league-wide orgy, but the Rams suddenly became celibate?

Didn’t see that coming (no pun intended).

The rest of the way, priority for me is evaluating young players.

I'm interested in seeing Kyren Williams and Q Lake... guys we haven't seen yet.. Daniel Hardy, too.

Bobby Brown wasn't active this week... I feel like we need to see a lot of him this season to know what kinds of decisions have to be made next offseason. What's he good at? Is he good? Does he perform at a level that makes you confident losing Gaines or Robinson.. and which of those two would be the priority to keep next to him?

With health... a good draft.. and some smart smaller moves.. the Rams *could* be back near the top next season.
If Alaric Jackson keeps playing this well or improving, the line could be very interesting with the additions of Bruss and Anchrum next year.. and a draft pick or two as competition.

Biggest problems that have no projectable solutions currently on the roster include Running Back... Deep Threat (maybe Van bounces back.. so this could be a lesser issue) and, of course, edge.

Tbh the problem isn’t the position coach it’s what the head coach gives him in terms of players. We have traded away so many picks and our 2nd and 3rd rounders are mostly questionable picks. This is the problem with the roster, it’s the same thing that won it for us last year. We’re as fans going to have to live with this 6ear. But judging by the sheer amount of vent threads going right now that won’t happen. It’s going to be a long year and a longer off season.

What I'm talking about is the collaborative effort. During the offseason it's not like they ignore the position coaches. Those guys feed them the intel they need on the group, as they're the ones with the pulse of the room. So just with TE as an example someone steered them to give the kids a go I think. Which to some extent is understandable, when those kids contributed to our epic Super Bowl run.

But this game is about accountability and it has to be. That's the beauty of it. We can have our favorites and all that, and Brown is definitely a favorite of McVay's. But look at the history of the RB room. It has been a mediocre mess for a long time. Then he moves to TE and allows the room to take a nosedive. Might be a little hubris there. Thinking he can make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

With TE they should have looked hard at their complete loss of physicality. I mean they barely got by SF. Cincinnati was really tough and physical up front too in the playoffs. We had just enough. So where is the self-analysis on all that.

And btw it goes without saying that I am ecstatic we won it all. Also you know I believe in McVay. This is all on him as he's the main guy setting the vision and identity. But that does not mean individual coaches don't need to be held accountable.

I just find it interesting that one of the coaches McVay has been highest on has not really made huge impact in the actual play of the room he runs. The TEs looked way better prepared under Wes Phillips. The RBs for years have been somehow accepted by this staff. Brown is part of all that, he is a common link. This is why I started that coaching thread, because I think coaching has something to do with all this. The problems are mostly talent of course, and it all starts with those OL injuries. But if McVay passes on the TV deal again this offseason I think we might see him wielding an axe on more than the obvious roster groups.

My point is they can’t give everybody a perfect position group because of the decisions they make in trades. Absolutely position coaches are wrong. So are scouts, Gms and head coaches. We fans have absolutely no idea what Thomas or Carberry Or any of the others said about their players. But we seem to take every thing out on them from a position compl lacking in knowledge.

We also know that attempts were made to upgrade position;s that just didn’t works out. No coach or player should lose their job on one season where there are injuries happening at pretty much every level line we’re having this year.

McVay trusts in Thomas, that should be good enough for us. Especially when McVay down graded the talent that he had to work with while also expanding his responsibilities

Of course and all true. But we can't just discuss how poor the OL is. There's a lot of other shit wrong too.

And as fans are wont to do I am simply looking at the end result and going from there because, as you say, we are not privy to all those things that go on. But this is what we do.

Re: TE what I think the Rams should do is look for one that can block somewhere midrounds. What the Rams will probably do though is go after Gesicki. Who can't block but who will give McVay a pass game woody.

To some extent I'll admit I'm still blowing off some steam with all this too btw. But whatever the offseason plan ends up being here's hoping they address the OL and find a respected or skilled run game coordinator.

So, welcome to Arkansas! Fayetteville is one of the better towns in this part of the Ozarks; I'm sure your family likes it a lot.
What brings ya'll to the great state of Arkansas??
