If we were to replace Tyler Higbee with a TE in FA I would love to bring in Kelce for a year. Still very productive for his age, can block, and you may be able to get him for relatively cheap.

Not to mention it would wonders for Ferguson long term to be able to learn from him.
How about Dallas Goedert? He is a FA. He gets nicked up, but if the price is reasonable, he doesn't have to play 50 snaps a game.

No thank you. Dude is a big baby and I’d rather watch football than see his girlfriend every play
Hey, if dude is producing like I think he can in McVay’s 13 personnel looks. Show his girlfriend all you want, why the hell should I care? Lol

I’d rather roll with our current TEs and use those extra millions to secure a top FA CB.

Heck, if you really want a vet TE is needed, just bring back Higs for cheap. I’m sure he’d love to stay an extra year. Me - utilize our current TEs group and draft a guy Day 3 and spend those 1-4M extra instead to ensure we get a top CB.

If he still wants to play, and would sign for relatively cheap, why on earth would he leave KC?

And he's not on the injured list every other weekend like Higbee.

Well for one, KC is in cap hell so he may make more in the open market with another team than what the chiefs are able/willing to offer.

Also there will be a ton of changes coming to KC next season. They need to re-tool their roster on top of praying that Mahomes comes back in time for them to somewhat salvage their season. If Kelce wants to play for a contender next year the Rams would make sense. And we have more than enough cap to bring him on.

Well, again, if he's willing to sign for relatively cheap then KC could afford him as well.
Its time for Ferguson to step up, not to lose snaps to an aged vet. Parkinson and Allen can get their share. Maybe this is the year they draft an inline TE

Quick comparison of New England's opponents in 2025 vs. 2026, excluding common opponents.

AFC East opponents are excluded, along with Pittsburgh and Vegas (Patriots' opponents both seasons)

That leaves 9 games with different opponents.

2025
AFC South (Atlanta, Carolina, New Orleans, Tampa) ... Giants ... Browns ... Bengals ... Titans ... Ravens
... EVERY ONE of those nine teams had a losing record

2026
NFC North (Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit) ... Broncos ... Chargers ... Seahawks ... Chiefs ... Jaguars
... the ONLY ONE of those nine teams that did NOT have a winning record, has Patrick Mahomes at QB

Man, after watching Kelce this year he seemed cooked but also, he doesn't really block.

Not seeing the fit. TE is a hard position cause like it runs a from one extreme of guys who really are just big WRs to guys who are basically linemen who can catch 13 passes a season.

People need to understand the spectrum.

Also, if you believe that Fergy will take a step forward next year I think you have to look at TE as a strength of this team and three deep with Parkinson and Allen (who looked very serviceable after a healthy year) in the fold. Though I do believe if we want to live in 13 personnel we probably need to bring someone in to back up Parkinson at Y. And that is not the position Kelce plays.

Travis Kelce was 4th in TE receiving yards this pass season with 851. How exactly is that “cooked”? Lol

Did you watch any KC games? They force fed him the ball. They had no threats at receivers but passed quite a bit because they had no threats at runningback and the oline was wrecked. Entire offense had to go through him.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think any team in the league is sitting there thinking we should try to get Kelce except KC.

Look, I like stats as much as the next guy but when the data and what you see diverge, trust what you see. Often it means that what's being measured isn't the right thing. In this case, I don't think 851 yards reveal how lumbering and how much of a struggle he had getting open but more about how much they were forced to pass with no run game and how little production they had at WR so they had to force passes to him.

Why is the Rams schedule ranked higher than the 1st place Seahawks? I don't get that. Isn't the division winner supposed to get the overall tougher schedule?
For one the Rams have to play the Super Bowl champSeahawks twice. That ranks higher in difficulty than the Seahawks having to play the lower ranked Rams twice.

TE is the least of the Rams needs. Even if Higs sails on out of here in FA.

Parkinson > Allen > Ferguson is a good room. And if they liked the way Vannett worked in his short time here they may get him inked on the cheap as well.

Okay, while that’s for certain a fair assessment and I have no interest in splitting hair with you, I will only say this (as I am a data guy haha). Kelce had the least amount of targets this past season that he had seen since the 2015 season (his second year in the NFL). He contested catch targets were the lowest they had been since the same span. So I’m not sure that lends credence to your idea of KC “force feeding him the ball”.

What I will say about Kelce is that even though he’s older and definitely lost a step, he still finds a way to get open consistently, as he average yards of separation are still way above league average for TE’s. He is still a legitimate RZ threat and (hypothetically) if he ended up on the Rams, would be a far superior replacement for Tyler Higbee.

I guess my mind is just wandering to, if you have Puka/Adams, add Makai Lemon through the draft, and were to add Kelce to the TE room with Ferguson and Parkinson, that would be a legitimately unstoppable offense. Most likely, it would be one of the greatest that the league has ever seen.

But that’s just my two cents.

Honestly, if we went for a tight end in this free agency class who isn't a re-signed Higbee, I'd go for Isaiah Likely. I just hope the Ravens don't tag him.
