Durant started the entire season. He played in 16 games and started 15 of them.
Trust me.. both Spoon and Durant played better than Williams last year.
D will was hurt at the beginning of the season... he had a stretch where he wasn't playing well... Spoon started to come on after having zero training camp being unsigned.
Spoon is our tallest corner and I'd argue his hold on a starting spot is more secure than Williams right now
I like where we are at CB with or without D will assuming we draft a CB with one of our first 2 picks.
Come on dude, where did he start, he was at nickel (where he split time with Lake), it's a very different position than boundary.
You can't even compare coverage grades from one to the other. If we can't differentiate corner positions, I definitely don't think we can come to an agreement here.
Durant has split time before between boundary and nickel, if Williams was so bad, I'm no sure why Durant couldn't have done it last year (okay, maybe they wanted him to just concentrate on one).
Is the argument that we can't cut Williams cause of the dead money (this is at least somewhat plausible) so we kept him over Spoon and only signed Spoon late into FA cause we could only pay him near vet min and oh look no other team signed him cause he's so good.
If you're right - and hey, maybe you are - then I expect Williams to eventually sit especially if we draft a CB in the 1st or perhaps we trade him like some have suggested.
Happy Spoon is back, he gives us optionality. And there's always a chance he becomes more consistent down to down. There's even a chance Williams is fully healed and is very good next year. We'll see what happens.
PS. You do realize those PFF grades aggregate coverage and run support right?
