Jaire Alexander (28) was really good but he has missed exactly half the Packers' games the past four seasons.

That's a lot.

I don't see him as a bargain signing. Right-or-wrong, someone will pay him.

I dont know what his contract was like but he's missed most of the season in 3 of the last 4 years. He has to be washed for GB to just cut him

If OTC is correct; and, if he's a post-June cut (assuming that's the case) the Packers get a robust $17M of 2025 cap relief, with only $7.5M of Dead-$ ... presumably more Dead-$ in 2026.

I would not anticipate a team putting-in a waiver-claim, and taking-on Alexander's current contract but there are some dopey and desperate teams out there; and, over half the League has more than $25M of cap space at the moment.

Makes for a more interesting June. See some free agents signings ... like Nick Chubb, with Houston.
Some bargains but a few may cash-in

Pretty sure Alexander doesnt go thru waivers because he's a vested vet? I always get confused when they do and when they dont have to pass

He's a dude who helps us if he is up when we hit the playoffs. Teams will try to add him I'd imagine. Just try to get him on a short term performance based contract.

.

Derek Carr said he didn’t want to undergo shoulder surgery to “just sit there and—it sounds crazy but—just take the Saints money.”

How refreshing is it to hear a player not just drain a team dry. I know he made a ton of money already but still, it would have been so easy going it the other way.

.
Well, he's also given him self some optionality to unretire for someone else at some point.

Yeah the one prob with Alexander is he is too much like Durant and Forbes. Where they have good coverage ability but suck at tackling. And in his case he gets hurt so much that you almost don't want him tackling, not to mention his heart isn't in it.

So I don't expect the Rams to chase him hard. But I do like the idea of him being in our secondary going into the playoffs. He could potentially change how we look, especially if he's healthy and all-in for that run.
