Most annoying and whiny ass bunch of c*nts in rock 'n roll history.
I saw them at Mountainaire in 84. Worst band I have ever seen in concert, I knew guys in high school bands that were better than REM. Lead singer said they were going to open with 12 songs, after 1st song I cheered 1 down 11 to go. But I was not alone about 50% of the crowd was cheering with me. They made Ratt & the Cars look like rock Gods.

Curious to hear who was your favorite band(s) in 1984. I’ve never seen REM or Ratt live but the Cars (whose first 2 albums I loved) live was horrible.

I didn't see them in 1984 but I saw Journey recently and they were awesome. So I assume they were awesome in 1984 too.

REM << Ratt?? lol, wow.
Back when I did that sort of thing, I never saw either live, but I saw Monsters of Rock in '88, best performers were The Scorpions, by far. Worst was Dokken, smh they were awful.

Ratt was up there, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Ronnie James Dio, Judas Priest, Motley Crue. The early 80s went from Journey and Styx to a bit more of the metal scene. I even saw Twisted Sister back in 84.

Saw Van Halen in their “Women & Children” tour front row festival seating at Richmond coliseum -summer 1980. Just graduated from high school. Top 3 concerts I’ve ever been to but best vantage point I’ve ever had. So close could see Roth chugg a Jack Daniels half gallon bottle in about 10 minutes but looked like tea ( foam clearly at the top of bottle). Prime DLR/EVH showmanship though.

I saw Twisted Sister at Toads Place in New Haven, CT several times years before Stay Hungry came out.

@RamBall wish I would have seen VH and RJD. Judas still tours, but cancelled on me a few years ago.

I’d like to have seen Rush back then and surprised I haven’t seen MegaDave.

Cool, I saw Van Halen in their first tour in 1978, they opened for Black Sabbath.

Saw Van Halen in 1979 at the Caldwell Field House in Calwell Idaho. They were releasing VH2the next day. It was like seeing them in a high school gymnasium. The sound was horrible. They played "Your No Good" and I couldn't tell what the hell song it was as I didn't have the new album yet. Dave had the cowhide chaps on that night.

Saw them on their first tour also. It was also my first concert. It was just them in downtown San Jose—NOT at the civic center where I would see many concerts, but at the center for performing arts where they usually had ballets, musicals, plays, etc.. The acoustics were TOO good. We went to school the next day and our ears were still ringing! Last time a rock band ever played there. It was a fantastic show.

Love the Rams' shirt.

The Saints' one is also pretty nice.
