I'm sure if the Rams really wanted to pay him more, they could've. The cap is malleable like that. Sounds like they didn't want to, and the Bills did. Whatever, can't sign em all.

Wow, that's crazy about Smith. He certainly could get a better off then what he accepted. I wonder if we told him if we lost out on Von we'd be interested in beating his offer? That would certainly lessen the Miller sting.

It could also be that his agent put the breaks on to touch base with the Rams, and not the other way around

Yeah, looks like he only played one game last year. Was a back injury, which is kind of scary. My fav option is still Hunter (if at all possible) but would certainly not mind Smith at right price. He signed for a steal in Baltimore.

Seems like there's some mixed metaphors going on. His AAV is 20 mill per, the guarantee piece is 3 for 53, but he could earn more than that. So some are "assuming" the Rams could have gone to 17.5 and that its comparable to the 3 for 53.But reality is thats apples to oranges, if the 17.5 they were allegedly offering was AAV its far off from the 20 mill on his deal

Like @dang said, I was referring to the hit the Rams would take if they were to trade for him. Theyd be on the hook for his salary 1.4 mill and roster bonus 18.5 mill, the dead cap falls on Minny

Not a whole lot of room to restructure being he's only 22 & 23 left on his deal and the reason he wants out is over a contract extension.
If anything, a team would have to trade for him and then sign to an extension to spread that hit out. I doubt that would happen quickly.

I didn't hear that everywhere I'm looking I'm reading they don't want to pay his 18 million this Sunday that's due. My interest turned to him almost soon as von bolted. I put link up too. However could be I'm scoping every second of every day.....now I took a break and we sign Allen Robinson??? Haven't had chance yet to see this.
