Godwin back to the Bucs. It's amazing how they keep affording this shit.

That's what teams keep saying about us.

The Rams have cleared cap and were prepared to pay Von about $17M per, but likely we wouldn't budge on that guaranteed 3rd year. That's all I can think of.

So... seeing as it's unlikely we sign a big FA on offense, that leaves one of 4 positions on D.

OLB/Edge: trade for Danielle Hunter (with what picks...and no, Vikes, you can't have Higbee) or grab Fowler on the cheap. Fowler left because he got a big contract from the Falcons, not because we wouldn't have liked to retain him. I don't see us going after Clowney, but stranger things have happened. He does have the kind of outside burst to synergize with AD and is very good against the run. We'll see, but I could just as easily see us stand pat with Hollins, Lewis and Garrett.

ILB: This, I think, would improve the D the most... Bobby Wagner. E Jones is a wonderful up and coming LB and Travin Howard is also showing out..., but we still need that guy who can cover AND thump in the run game. I think Bobby Wagner would actually lead to a better D overall than Von did, but seeing as we don't invest in ILBs (cries in London Fletcher) since forever, I just don't see this happening.

DL: Nope. We're stacked.

DB: Seeing as we play the AFC West this year, upgrading CB2 may net the best overall improvement, especially if we pivot from Von to someone like Gilmore, Patrick Peterson or another elite CB. Gilmore as CB 2 with our front seven would make things awfully tough on opposing QBs

And with all of that, I could see us signing no FAs and just signing depth or gathering solid JAGs as teams dump players just prior or just after the draft...

I don't know if I'd hesitate if we could get Hunter for Higbee and a pick. I sure as hell hope we get Bobby. Give me Gilmore over Peterson.

There’s a FA pattern for the Rams that cannot be ignored. They haven’t gone after big external FA signings since 2017 that I can recall. They go after released players, resign internal FAs or trade. I don’t expect that to change this year. With that said there are some good released players they could pursue. Hunter is an intriguing option but not sure what we have to trade for him. I do expect the Rams to resign OBJ.

I’m not sure Hunter will Cost that much. Injuries and the huge amount due to him in a few days. There’s a decent chance he gets released before his big payment on Sunday.

I think its 26 mil owed this year including bonus money but if we traded a 2023 pick for him we'd have him for 2 years at about 24 mil or 12 mil a year. I'd be very ok with that. If he gets released, I can definitely see him getting more than that elsewhere.

I would think Peterson could have a few good yrs left if moved to safety.

And history shows that many teams who spend like mad in the first few days of Free Agency, still end up as bottom dwellers
Yeah teams that blow up the first couple of days of free agency rarely get the better of moves.

If I remember correctly, I think last year we did nothing last year in adding during FA and lost a few (not Von level but still). Regardless, the year ended up pretty well ;)

NFL network just said Von to Buffalo, 6 yrs 120 million.
This is so stupid on Buffalo's part.

6 years at age 33 for an Edge Rusher who has gotten hurt in the last two years

Just outright dumb idiotic assinine etc etc etc

I could see 2 years at $20 M but 6?

I know they’re using voidable years and all, but the numbers are still gonna lead to a big dead cap charge… but just like with us last season, if it leads to a Super Bowl win, they’ll say it was worth it.

Too bad for them we’re looking to repeat

Thats the thing its kind of faux numbers. Essentially its 3 years like 51-53 million. The rams had to be in the ballpark maybe that 3rd year was a problem we will never know.

Same exact list but before goingbthat route id have to see if ibcould pry Hunter from Minnesota. Thats my main target
20 mill cap hit for 2022 is a little rough. If they werent giving Miller 20 mill, I cant see giving it to him
