I would have preferred Alex Cappa at a reported 4-years / $40M.
If I was a GM with a need to fill OG in FA then Tomlinson would have been my top choice. He's a stud.

Solid new piece for Trevor Lawrence to operate with.
His health was a concern when there was a big push by ROD members.

He and Cam Robinson make a strong left side for Lawrence. Jags have the money and can take a chance that he stays healthy.

Another piece of the 49'er OL pie going elsewhere ...
They took a guy in the 2nd round last year but I don’t think he wa# on a game day roster all year. They’re clearly hoping for a second year bounce.

Smart signing for Jax. I expect he will be a great vet addition to that OL. Will do like Whit I think in leading that room.
He's a talent for sure but he's also missed 22 games over the past four seasons; and has not started 16 games since Jeff Fisher was coaching the Rams. Very curious about the contract value.

I think he'll have a Whit-type impact there. The guy does get hurt but Jax needs to improve that OL and I think he's going to help them a lot.

Seems like Boom's contract ended up in that range or better, at $47M over three seasons. Now we'll see what he can do with the job and they have Jackson in the wings if Boom can't live up to it.

Me too. But Williams was pretty bad at times last year. Extremely inconsistent, guys blowing by him in coverage. I don't care where he goes tbh he's not a difference maker. If he was he would have played better in a contract season.

Every year you see tons of guys being cast off who were overpaid. It's usually the marginal starters who were overpaid to bring them in or keep them in FA.

It seems like they do have a lot of faith in AJ. I don't think they'll hesitate to start him if Boom falters so that is quite valuable. And if Boom holds onto the job and performs then Jackson can be worked in at LG to keep his feet oriented that way.

So for now I'm thinking...

LT: Boom
LG: Jackson
C: Shelton
RG: Edwards
RT: Havenstein

Rams have room to mess around with the OGs and hope that competition fixes their interior probs. Not what I was hoping for but what else is new with the OL. Now they just need to bring in more fresh blood in the draft at the very least.
Darius played better late in the season. He is more of an outside corner and not the versatile piece that they tried moving around like they did this year.

That’s one dilemma with raw prospects who have elite athleticism. They don’t come in with the knowledge or instincts that a guy like Weddle had.

Snead obviously has preferred the athleticism over football instinct and IQ when it comes to picking up DBs after round 3. You don’t get a lot of John Johnson types later in the draft and you rarely find anyone better. The Patriots did a great job finding JC Jackson. I hope Rochelle can become something similar or maybe not quite that good then the Rams can afford him in 3 years.

Houston is a dumpster fire. Only good thing in all that is that IF their owner wises up and fires Easterby next offseason they can then trade Watson and garner picks without him fucking them up.
