Such a contrast between Eagle and Ram handling of their rookie QB's...

I think we can all agree that our broken-ass scheme would and is holding back every QB who enters this system and thus would have held back Wentz had he been the guy. Yes, I think he overtakes Keenum in OTAs because he's more up to speed on managing a huddle and adapting to calling plays, even the nightmarish language that the Rams use, but that wouldn't make our SCHEME any better which ultimately hinders any QB back there.

It's basically like having a speed limiter on a car. The fact that it's likely Wentz likely could have gotten to 50 faster than Goff really isn't the issue when we're on the NFL Autobahn and we have every reason to believe that Goff will be able to AT LEAST be able to get to that 50 and within a reasonable period of time, even under this craptastic offensive regime (pun intended).

Part of the reason I wanted Wentz was SPECIFICALLY because of the broken scheme we run and that Fisher doesn't and won't change...and Stan Kroenke isn't in the habit of firing veteran coaches.

Now, if we could get someone like Jim Bob Cooter or David Shaw???

Who knows? We may have ended up with the true Franchise QB we were looking for.

Under Fisher? We don't even know if we got Matt Barkley... And that...well, that's just not the funnest feeling.

Would Wentz have done better here? Probably...I'd go so far as to say almost certainly..., because he was farther along and Fisher can't develop QBs worth a single damn. But it's a fait d'accompli ("done deal" for the non Frenchies). We can only hope that Goff develops in spite of Fisher... or that we get a new HC.

Cuz NOTHING about this broken scheme is developmentally friendly.

Oh, and the reason Fisher won't acquiesce to allowing Goff to start out of the shotgun? Takes away a lot of run options which require the QB to be under center and mitigates play action passing. Draws and delays rarely work with rookie QBs and Fisher doesn't and hasn't liked them. He's a power running HC and that means under center.

My worst fear is that this year has a bunch of stretches like the last two games, Fisher gets that extension and we're stuck with him for the next 3+ years... I dunno that I could take that...

Barron...Ready for some Revenge..

Aaron Donald and Gerald McCoy would probably create the greatest inside rush of all time.
Reggie White...and Brown...Reggie didn't always line up at DT...but he was a force...Never before seen...speed, power...and I mean POWERFUL man...Changed games from the DT position...reminds me of Donald...rather Aaron reminds me of Reggie...Jerome Brown was a beast too...Anytime I see a 100 yards rushing...it pisses me off...I doubt those Eagles ever allowed a 100 yards on the ground when those two played...

Oh yeah...you gotta love Barron's game...now he's defending some passes too...looks better than what people have been saying about him...I wouldn't doubt he leads the team in PBU's at the end of the year....

Joyner Playing through Broken Toe

not that im a vindictive person or anything but if i was a bucs player id be going for that toe anyway i could to try to slow LJ down because guy was straight up flying round that field against the hawks..swear the kid thinks he is bigger than he is and i love it

I know it's a crazy comparison .... Joyner reminds me of LT, and I don't mean LaDainian Tomlinson . Its something in his body language and movement... and the way he hits with bad intentions without a wasted split-second of hesitation.

Joyner is still learning the game and plays a role that is incredibly difficult and practically impossible to get noticed positively without creating turnovers.
Our defense was great last Sunday and the fact that our midget nickel with a broken toe not only stood out but recorded the 2nd highest grade against a good QB who has some weapons in the slot....
As Darth Vader says- "Most impressive"

If anyone still isn't a believer in #20-
"I find your lack of faith disturbing"

Rams vs Bucs ESPN Previews

Do a better job of protecting Keenum Really? he has had plenty of time. makes me laugh that people think they should shut down the rush every play. NOBODY does that now days its all about pressure for defenses its the only way you can survive.
Pressure busts pipes...My plumber buddy always says that. LOL....I think the first time Keenum was sacked in the last game was the 3rd quarter....people were open....the tough drops hurt...by Tavon...then the one by Britt...but b4 all that, he was very innaccurate...and I didn't see that much pressure in those drives (2nd & 3rd of the game) when we went 3 & out....but there is one thing Case Keenum:
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb

Keenums stats while being blitzed are not very good, like 40% completion rate, and as we know it's usually a completion for a two yard gain. So it doesn't matter if he has time if he sees a blitz cause it's an inaccurate check down.
Yeah, pitiful...like we didn't work on 3rd down stuff all pre-season...It's the reason I had assumed all those short passes, play after play, were run in TC....

We do have a solution...a very good 3rd down player....known for being accurate in the face of pressure...just sitting on the bench...

PFF Grades on Seattle @ LA

The problem is finding people that love working with kids and love coaching sports. Throw in needing a good structure to oversee it. Most guys coach only because they want to coach their kid and make sure he is the star that they weren't in school. It takes great dedication. You have an admirable group there.
Yes, I agree.
They are careful who they rotate in as a coach too.

Spruce/Cooper/Gaines all back at practice today

One of Thomas' biggest strength in the preseason was his ability to get open and create seperation - he just dropped about everything thrown his way.

He is now showing that same ability to create seperation as a gunner. He is getting off the line cleanly and then just plain beating everyone down the field.

Those are the exact skills you want from your wide receiver - with the ability to catch the ball. Thomas has proven he can create separation and that it translates very well against NFL level competition.

Fisher, the Offense, Keenum and Goff

"Fisher loves Keenum"
--Fisher hired Snead
--He has significant input on the draft
--The Rams gave up a lot for Goff
OK, this is pretty obvious. The Rams may have wanted to make a splash in LA but there are other ways to do that and if they didn't believe that getting a QB was necessary, especially if the HC was convinced he could win with Keenum, there is no way they risk that much.

"Fisher thinks our Offense is OK"
-2 Offensive Coordinators fired
-Hired Groh to revamp passing game
-12 of last 15 draft picks for Offense
-Zero defensive picks before 6th round
Those facts speak for themselves. Even when considering the possibility that Fisher might not have total control over his staff or the draft, that kind of extreme focus on the offense does not happen without him being on board.

"Wentz is a better fit for this offense"
-Fisher is a huge Peyton Manning fan
-Bradford was key in choosing Rams
-0 dual-threat QBs on roster since JF
It's only natural to think of Steve McNair when considering Fishers time in Tennessee, assuming McNair is the type of QB that Fisher wants might be a fallacy though. Fisher last had good success in 2008 with Kerry Collins, a 33yr old back up QB who won 12 games and earned a 1st team all pro selection. It was widely reported that the Titans FO drafted Vince Young against Fishers wishes and he is the only other dual-threat QB to start games on a JF coached team that I can think of.
Facing Peyton Manning twice a year for 12 years certainly would have some influence on shaping Fishers views on the position, too. An extremely accurate passer with great vision and footwork in the pocket is still the hardest thing to defend.

Personally I was in the "Start Jared" camp and while I would be excited to see him play, I think part of that might be just my impatience and excitement, like a kid at Christmas who begs to open his presents early. Just because it's what I want, that doesn't make it the right choice. If the team believed Goff would eventually be the better QB but chose Wentz simply because he was more prepared to start week 1, we would all be pissed.
We can only speculate how Jared would have played vs the Browns and Bears and we don't know how Wentz would have performed against division rivals with good defenses. Which one proves to be the better pick is a question that wont have an answer this year or next. It's all speculative.

-Btw- Eli, Rivers, Brees, Rogers are a few modern era QBs that didn't begin their NFL careers as starters. All 4 are considered among the best of the last decade. Geno Smith, Ryan Tannehill, David Carr and many other 1st round picks who started week 1 did not pan out. The bust rate for QBs taken in the first round is about 50% and as far as I can tell, starting week 1 or not doesn't mean anything.

Mason and Ireland on Case Keenum

I hear what you're saying ; you don't think Keenum can get the ball downfield when the defense stacks the box to take away Gurley. My answer to this is that the philosophy and scheme doesn't give him many options. So, yes, it is the head coaches philosophy that is the problem.
And I think that the coach is coaching within the abilities of the players that he has on the team. Keenum can't get the ball downfield, look at his completion percentages when he is under a blitz and when under pressure for instance. He "always" goes to the first check down and constantly misses open receivers, even on his "good" days, that's not coaching, that's the QBs performance. Look at Goff during the preseason, without me looking at stats, I believe Goff has more downfield passes than Keenum does, and if he doesn't numbers wise, then he does percentage wise. It's the QB, not the coaching, IMHO. And Keenums' girly boy arm is the reason they drafted Goff and got rid of 6 draft picks. If you are right then these are the stupidest coaches and ownership in the NFL. No reason to draft a guy with a stronger arm than Keenum if your entire game plan is to throw to the nearest receiver, makes zero since, unless you are trying to destroy a franchise for the next 10 years.

Rod Members, consider this ..

@DaveFan'51 72 years old but still insanely positive. Life hasn't ground you down like it has the rest of us.

Either you're more resilient than most or you haven't been paying enough attention all these years.

Either way, congratulations. Hope you had a good one.

James CORDEN

I don't see why he's being so hated on here...some of you guys need to chill out lol.

I agree. Never heard of the guy until now, but I think he is hilarious. Those karaoke bits had me rolling. Especially the one with Stevie Wonder.

And for a fat dude, he could actually move. Did you see him drop into the splits with the cheerleaders? (Granted that outfit was pretty disturbing)

It seems like he doesn't take himself too seriously. Maybe we could all learn something from that.

About that 7-9 bullcrap...

7-9 bullshit
Enough already ROD. Overused and abused. It was funny for about a week....a month ago.
Find a fresh take people. It's like we've got a bunch of 12 year old's who just learned the phrase "fuck face" and are trying to use it in every sentence to impress someone..
If i see it, it's gone. K?
Thanks.
