Let's look at it positively

I like so many things going on right now, I'm reserving pessimism for mid-season. Quicky is showing, Britt is Mr's reliable, TA is still killing on the ground when they bother and looking much improved as a WR, ST is playing lights out. We still have rookie WRs with potential to emerge. Gurley is coming, I know it.

Here's the thing: We're 3-2 on a team who's D is always slow starting and has injuries. Fisher does adjust, he just does it slowly, so hopefully he's seen enough to adjust this week. Goff is still our Unicorn. There's a lot of ball left.

And best part ever? We've never lost when I met up with ROD members for a game! They can't stop that level of mojo.

Peter King: MMQB - 10/10/16

no caveats as to why Tyrod had 6.2 seconds to make that throw or why we were gashed on the ground ? ...or why McCoy gashed us ...so im takung the liberty of doing it

"Pretty huge accomplishment, averaging 8.3 yards per attempt against the Rams...although they were missing three starters on the D line among them Micheal Brockers who is usually solid agaionst the run "

"Tyrod Taylor had 6.12 seconds, a lifetime for a quarterback although lucky for him he didnt have Quinn or Hayes to worry about allowing them to double on Donald , to look and look and scramble left and look some more and fire a strike to Justin Hunter in the end zone for a touchdown. Beautiful patience and execution and decision-making by Taylor.

i feel better now

It doesn't fit King's style of sensationalizing play e 're that he chooses to highlight, plus he is probably too lazy to look at the injury reports.

TRANSCRIPTS: Rams Post-Game

man i wished they run these things after the players had watched the tape ..
"we have to watch the tape and see what happened"
" we will have to watch the tape and get it fixed "

how about

" yeah we sucked bad and honest to god at detriot we will try not to suck as much"

but I'm expecting Case to get the start next week judging by those comments

Greg Z easily hit a 62 yarder in warmup

Do you speak of Jake McQuaide?
Actually saw a kid at the game with his jersey. Had to compliment him

Jake is the Invisible Man. Always does his work, and, therefore, never gets recognized except by his teammates. I don't believe long snappers are even chosen for the Pro Bowl.

Nevertheless, if Greg can connect on some clutch long kicks and maintains an extremely high FG conversion rate, who knows?

Three starting defensive linemen questionable for Rams

The loss of the three starting players on the d-line was indeed huge. And there's never any replacing Robert Quinn. But I don't think that was the reason we lost today. The other lineman really stepped up in their absence. The LBers were just as much to blame for McCoy running free. We lost this because of poor QB play #1, and poor coaching #2.

I thought the defense did a good job adjusting to McCoy. Most of his damage was early in the game.

Right out of Fisher's mouth Goff is ready

At this point, I'd be hard pressed to believe that Goff is learning anything on the bench from watching the inspired play of Keenum.

And, for the record, I still don't think you would call Goff a "spread" QB. (@RamWoodie) :fighting:
Obviously you entitled to think Goff wasn't a spread QB...but that's exactly what he is...read it:

"IRVINE, Calif. — In the opening scene of Hard Knocks, Jared Goff takes a bumpy ride in the Goodyear blimp and mentions he’s not a fan of roller coasters, an ominous sign for a rookie quarterback that will likely face ups and downs when he finally takes over the starting job in Los Angeles. Not only is he supposed to be the face of the team in a new town, Goff faces a challenge that is becoming more common every year: the transition from a college spread offense to the pros.

After the Rams traded with the Titans for the No. 1 pick, they had their choice of Goff, who played in Sonny Dykes’s Bear Raid” spread offense at Cal, or Carson Wentz, a pro-style QB out of North Dakota State. They were comfortable with Goff, who threw for 4,714 yards, 43 TDs and 13 interceptions in his final college season.

“At this point, we know the issues we’re going to face with spread guys,” says Chris Weinke, the Rams’ quarterback coach. “Goff didn’t call plays in a huddle in college or go under center. You gotta have baby steps with him to teach him the things pro quarterbacks need to do. It’s a lot. Goff’s out early every day working hard on those things."

Matt Longacre making the most of his opportunities

Not only do I believe Keenum won't be returning, ... imo, Sims, Barnes & Saffold, may also receive pink slips next season. That's $12.mil in CAP. Potential free agent guys like Quick, Britt, McDonald & Tru Johnson could easily seek the highest outside offerings as did Janoris Jenkins & McLeod earlier this year. The Rams have invested a lot of draft picks in offensive linemen and receivers these last two seasons, management may very well be expecting them to step up, and that would free up a lot of CAP for other uses. Sensabaugh alone saves some $5.mil off next years CAP. Not sure anyone is giving hometown discounts any longer, so I won't be expecting them all to re-sign with us. If Zuerlein keeps up his present pace, he may be the one player I suspect will return. jmo.

I would agree with you fully on DE Eugene Sims & a little less on OL'er Rodger Saffold but would disagree completely on any consideration of termination of Center Tim Barnes.

We saw the Rams Org. dish out a nice contract to Sims after a very poor 2015 season. I have no real reason to offer up as to why:thinking:. He spent the majority of the 2015 season as the starter @ RDE & had very few pressures, only 1 1/2 sacks & way too many costly penalties. So maybe they do not have to step it up to remain here Sims is a true indicator of that. On Sims the Rams already have younger & much more valuable replacement in 25 yr old Ethan Westbrooks. EW has better skills than the soon to be 31 yr old Sims. I should also mentioned another DE Matt Longacre too.

Rams have gotten very little in return on Saffold since 2010 season. Rams paid him 8.2 million last season & as usual Saffold finished only 4 games & was IR'd. RS does FACT have a serious medical history & missing major parts of many seasons so that's well known but RS performance has been vastly overhyped for years now even to this day, many here in this forum believe & think & post to claim Saffold performs like an all pro ...:palm:. Not in reality. Rams are on the hook to pay Saffold a near 14 million for the next two seasons....I would ask whyo_O?

Saffold for 5 games thus far has shown he only marginally more effective than his other left side partner Greg Robinson. RS supposedly powerful run blocking is far in his rear view mirror & he is only 28 yrs old. Most maintain he is a bad OT I will :argue: at this stage in his NFL career OT is RS best :lifting: playing position don't care what side left or right. With two recent drafted left OG's sitting on the bench in Jamon Brown & Andrew Donnal (might even throw in Greg Robinson name in here too...) the best place for RS to earn his 14 million the next 2 seasons ( & keep his job) will be @ OLT in place of the now playing "Fail Mode" ongoing @ OLT in the name of Greg Robinson. RS played very well @ OT in the four pre season games this season fact is RS performed real good & is more technically sound than any other Ram OL'er. One area where RS has done well is in his pass blocking in the first 5 games. He needs to take those pass rushing skills & use them @ OLT post where they are in critical need for the future Goff.:bueller:
