Rams got a little more offensive in loss to Lions

Rookie receiver Pharoh Cooper was inactive against the Lions because of roster needs caused by injuries in other position groups,” Fisher said. “It’s hard at times when you have injuries to afford yourself to keep up six receivers. I felt like we needed to keep nine defensive linemen up. Therein lies the issue with respect to Coop. It’s not something that he’s done or he hasn’t done…. He had a great week of practice, he’s doing well.”
No matter how Fish spins this, most assume he was sat because of the int return for a TD he was involved in...and will assume he was primarily at fault....

Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher – London Conference Call – October 17, 2016

We really need Quinn. Hopefully he can play even a limited role in the London game. Many Ram fans blaming Fisher for not kicking the FG just before the half instead of running the ball. I agree. On the road in a generally hostile environment, you take the FG especially with the Lions kicking to us to begin the 2nd half. Fisher is very good with the media and fans and is a good guy but I don't think he has evolved as a coach. You need to evolve for the team to stay relevant. . In spite of that, I think we can beat the Giants and then heal our wounds during the BYE week.
Ram fan since 1962 and unlike most Ram fans out here in LA I cheered for them while team was based in St. Louis and watched every game via Sunday Ticket. Go Rams!

Fisher Post-Game Presser - (10/16)

Too much "love" for opposing players (Stafford and Tate) in this presser for my liking. Time for Fish to head into the booth so he can spew his love for every NFL player ala Gruden. So great for us diehards to watch Tate and Bouldin beat down on our secondary once again...show some god damn anger please coach? Thats the least you owe us.
He does that after every loss. Usually credits the opposing teams GREAT coaching staff. It's his his mantra.

Short-handed Rams defense goes 'soft' on day offense shines

If EJ just stays in his zone and keeps his eyes on Stafford, he takes the ball back for a pick six. Instead the wide receiver makes a play on the ball. You have to make QBs pay for erratic passes like that. Stafford should have thrown at least two interceptions but our defense was out of position. I will surely feel good going into the bye at 4-3 but if not, it's time to play Goff. No point in keeping Keenum in if the season is going to be lost anyway.

Smoke em if ya got em !!

Does it involve your boat being confiscated?

Not this time. Hahahahaha

I was on my friend's boat. This is going back 15+ years. My friend had this connection down there and he wanted to make some cash hauling back cigars. He didn't want to go alone though... and he convinced me (with some of that cash) to go with him. He had a center console fishing boat similar to mine... not one that you would suspect in a cigar smuggling trip since it was like 100 mile trip there and 100 more coming back. You had to have a boat capable of getting there and back without refueling though.

Short version. Both times we left from Key West 1st thing in the morning. Appearing as though we were heading out offshore fishing. We had all the rods out and everything just like we would if we were actually fishing. Then we would head straight down to Cuba (on his boat it took about 5 hours). GPS took us directly to our connection there. Just a crappy dock that was falling apart behind two old houses. He did the business part and I just stayed in the boat. Then we loaded those cigars in every single compartment he had on that boat. It took about an hour for us to load em all in. We also got some real Cuban food and rum from his guy.

Then,,, we would head back across but at a much slower pace than we came over in. We ate, drank, and slow trolled our way back over. We always wanted to get back to the boat ramp when it was dark and as late as possible. We never caught any fish either time btw LOL.

Both times we got back to the ramp real real late,,, put his boat on the trailer,,, and drove back to Melbourne, FL with the boat filled with cigars dragging behind us. Those were the only 2 times he ever did it... but the funny thing was that we would find cigar wrappers for years after in the weirdest places on his boat when we were just out fishing... sometimes they would just seem to fly out of nowhere.

He made some nice money doing it, but both of us cringe now about how stupid we were to go do that. His connection was really really good and we knew that,,, but damn we were some dumbasses.

Seven Takeaways from the Rams 31-28 loss @ Detroit

I like your post and can agree with almost everything! Except when it comes to Williams, his problem is NOT with him being overly aggressive, It's with his "Bend don't Break" attitude at times! JMHO
Thanks DaveFan but like I think the Rams were Bend don't Break at one point and now they run pretty much an attacking 4-3 with tons of nickel looks and even some 3-4. I am worried Williams blitzes are killing our defensive line. I watched McDonald run into Hayes on accident and it caused Hayes to disengage an OLman he had beat. Another time I watched Ogletree blitz up the middle with both Barron and Forrest. You can't blitz every linebacker! I think Williams is doing the opposite of what he needs to. Lets take a step back a little bit and try to scheme so Troy Hill isn't getting picked on. However, another thing! E.J. Gaines under no circumstances should be playing on anyone other than Marvin Jones in that game.

Anti-vent thread Rams v Lions

but to be honest, that was a fairly cake defense he was throwing against.
Fair point. Detroit isn't known as a defensive juggernaut and they also had a few guys out.

BUT... there have been plenty of games that the Rams have played a pedestrian defense and still struggled to get 14.

So, congrats to Boras, Keenum and the WRs on a very well played game.

Should we have gone for it right before the half?

No absolutely not. Should have taken three. Monday Morning Quarterbacking? No. Here's why.

You go for the td if you're on the goal line because even if you fail - which you must acknowledge is a potential outcome, you put their offense in a terrible situation with a good chance of getting points anyway with a safety. Even more likely you force a punt and then get excellent field position with a chance to score again AND you've taken time off the clock. So most of the time 4th and goal you go for it.

However, when it's the end of a half and you don't have that back up option of a backed up opposition offense/chance for a safety/chance for great field position it's not worth the risk of it backfiring. Especially when you're getting the ball again to start the second half so you can reinforce those 3 points and the momentum you'd have had going in having scored and being in the lead.

It seemed to me to be more balls than brains as though they were trying to prove to everyone how tough they are and that they are not going 7-9 anymore damn it, when in fact it's lack of smart decision making like this that puts them in bad positions to end up 7-9 consistently with decent talent.
Hell of a post and tells everything how it is with out the fan blinders on. Fisher is arrogant, self serving, and so self absorbed that it's a me me me contest to prove all the pundits wrong. Hence, all his quarky remarks after a game a few years later...

Enough with the GRob holding calls refs.

The hold vs Detriot looked bogus to me.
One vs Arizona was questionable, could have gone either way, and one was a hold.
He is getting called when the runner comes his way and the defended goes to peel away and pursue and he doesn't let go.
Those are the holds I have seen. I have also seen several where he "hooked" a defender and spun them as they were pursuing and was not called.
What concerns me about Grob is his terrible balance and his lunging pass blocking. For a LT he does a lot of turning and chasing DEs who are rushing the passer.

Rams at Lions

Well your book isn't very wise. It's been 2 'months since you've seen Mannion play. The coaches are raving about Goff growing.
Mannion isn't a factor.
Goff hasn't played in 2 months either...so the fact is they both are backing up Keenum who played his best game thus far today.

I read pretty well myself. From what I read, the coaches aren't "raving" as you say. They are pleased with his progress...just as I am...but I still think it not fair to have Mannion consistently inactive.
