This would be stunning. And the Vikings best case scenario.
That’s a Serious Dart !!! Can’t see that At ALL !!!3Me too.
My odds:
50% OT
25% WR or please baby Jesus we get Bowers
25% Defensive Player
75% we go offense… that’s my dart at the wall.
If you think two of the top three edges are going to be there, which players are you thinking are rated above them?Okay, here's my take. Rams attempt to trade up in draft but it doesn't work out. Rams field calls for trade down scenario but don't like the offers. Plan C commences and they stay at 19. Rams take Latu at 19.
Edit: I've warmed to the idea that Latu could go earlier than 19 but... I actually have a hard time finding a team before us that picks him given the other players on the board, their talent and team needs. Love to see from guys who they think picks Latu before us. Think both he and Verse are there and if there's any medical issues with Latu than we go Verse or Newton. Also, think Dejean prob goes before Latu and Verse.
Again...how do we judge bad, mediocre, average, good, or great without a standard? Are we doing things less scientifically and just going by our feelings? So far he’s had more bad to mediocre drafts than he has great to good imo. But seeing as he hasn’t had first round picks, right now, he’s average
How I see it:If you think two of the top three edges are going to be there, which players are you thinking are rated above them?
What I'm seeing is:
QB: 4
WR: 3-4 (4 if we're counting Thomas, Jr.)
OT: 3-4
Edge: 1 (Turner...assuming that Latu and Verse are both available at 19)
DL: 1 (by most accounts Newton is rated lower in the 20s.)
CB: 2
TE: 1
That's 16-17 players. Who else do you see going before our pick?
The draft is far from scientific. Sure teams like to know the RAS but five guys could watch the same player on the field and all come away with a different take.Again...how do we judge bad, mediocre, average, good, or great without a standard? All of us at some point by the end of the season!Well it's nice to see so many coming to Snead's defense. Great drafting is getting players who start, star, play complimentary rolls, provide depth all for a team that wins more than it loses. So I guess Snead has drafted very well. Nobody's perfect. And with that in mind lets see how many people criticize the 2024 Rams draft.
Ask Carolina about that dart!!!That’s a Serious Dart !!! Can’t see that At ALL !!!3
—The hardest position to evaluate & to pas on would be a franchise QB. Have we heard anything lately on Stetson Bennett lately ?
IMO there is NO WAY The Rams draft a OT. In all honest though I don’t see The Rams staying put a 19!!!
Could very well happen. I was working on a mock draft and mine is similar.Final prediction: Rams trade up with Denver... for Byron Murphy.
Lose your minds.
Definitely agree with your last sentence. Based on all the studies I've ever seen, if he's getting three above-average starters every year, he's not just great, he's in 'best GM of all time' territory. The draft is far from scientific. Sure teams like to know the RAS but five guys could watch the same player on the field and all come away with a different take.
We all have our own standards for drafting success I guess. To me, a first and second rounder should be starters. A third and fourth rounder should be a regular contributor. Rounds 5-7 should be core special teamers.
Getting three starters that play at a high level is very successful imo. I don’t consider Rapp, or Long to be very successful, nor Noteboom or Allen.
Drafting injured guys like Barrett Jones and Terrell Lewis is an instant fail imo.
First rounders are hopefully 10 year starters. Trading firsts for proven talent doesn’t equal good drafting. It’s good GMing but isn’t the same as picking a college player.
Then you have Snead’s beloved comp formula. Turning a second round pick or a fourth round pick into a 6th or 7th round comp pick isn’t a high level of success.
If we only count successes and recency bias then sure, he’s great. But another success like last year is unrealistic. However, if he strings a few drafts together were he’s getting three above average to very good starters each year, then I’d say he’s doing great.
Now if Denver beats out the Vikings for QB four... I think we have to trade with the Raiders if they're willing to move down.Could very well happen. I was working on a mock draft and mine is similar.
Final prediction: Rams trade up with Denver...for Olumuyiwa Fashanu
Yes, this. People have crazy unrealistic expectations of what a good draft is. Last years draft may end up being the best draft of this decade (if everyone remains healthy). It certainly can't be used as a benchmark.Definitely agree with your last sentence. Based on all the studies I've ever seen, if he's getting three above-average starters every year, he's not just great, he's in 'best GM of all time' territory.
Your standards feel a little high to me. I recall some studies on a rule of thumb of what's considered a good draft and the results were that two normal starters - not high level starters - was a very good result.
If Denver beats out the Vikings for QB 4, I don't think we trade up b/c I don't feel the Raiders will be willing to move down especially if they feel we want OL. Many, including Vegas, are projecting them as being interested in OL themselves. Now if Denver beats out the Vikings for QB four... Arizona has already said they're not trading till they're on the clock which is super smart and sure sounds like they're moving out. So will Denver or Vikings give them the best price or will the Giants give them the right price AND still remain in the top 10.
Yeah, I could see that too. Even if Rams want to trade up, there's a lot of roadblocks. If Denver beats out the Vikings for QB 4, I don't think we trade up b/c I don't feel the Raiders will be willing to move down especially if they feel we want OL. This is not a thread for what you would do, but what you think the Rams will do with their 1st pick.
Trade up. Rams move from the 19th pick to 14th in a trade with the Saints.
The PICK. Latu
Instant production off the edge week 1.
A lot of people are saying that he projects more as a safety.Rams stay and 19 and pick a CB!
So, you're saying I was smart to include this in my post:A lot of people are saying that he projects more as a safety.
