Why would Shula leave a possible number-one premier defense in the NFL?

money. if he does well/lucks out at a HC gig, he's looking at $10-20M/yr vs a DC salary. Sometimes you have to strike when the iron is hot. Hopefully he plays the long game and/or Kronke makes money a cow's opinion.

Upset the Eagles and Shula will be on the short list of hot names for HC.

I want to see more blitzing, the players are dialed into the system and can be trusted to execute.
One thing Belicheat was talking about last night on the Manning cast was how a team has to be "what they're not on film" in the playoffs. The more you can surprise an opponent the better. I don't expect Shula to magically improve our issues or anything, but going back to that last game vs Philly he will need to mix things up.

So I agree more blitzing is a good way to do it. Certainly some run blitzing early on, maybe more of those corner blitzes when they're in compact formations. But this is a great chance for Shula to make himself a late playoff round head coaching interview. Which in turn will give him experience for next year when he should be one of the hotter candidates in the league.

I realize it is not game day anymore with Vikings - but I just fell onto this stat.

Minnesota only lost to TWO teams this year, at end of October and at the end of the year.

On Oct 20th the Lions beat Vikings - and the next game the Rams beat them.
End of the year, Lions beat them and in playoffs, Rams beat them.

That has to be something to think about in the off season!!
