I would target Pierce from the Colts.
He is bigger so McVay may actually use him as the deep threat that is missing from this O.
A real threat that will open things up underneath as well.
He can separate. But he seems to get hurt a lot.

For me our depth is weak at WR and we need to plan for post Adams. It would be GREAT to get a rookie mentoring with him and Nacua.
Agree.

I thought the Rams were very fortunate that Nacua and Adams combined to start 30 out of a possible 35 regular season games, and all three playoff games. Between Adams' age and Nacua's physical playing-style, the Rams should not count on both being available throughout a long season.

The Rams' strength is their Offense; and the Offense is driven by Stafford throwing to Adams and Nacua. Remove any one of the three, and the Offense takes a big hit. And that impacts the Rams' strength. Whittington and Mumpfield are nice depth pieces but a quality-WR is 2nd only to CB as far as greatest need ... in my opinion.

one limitation of not having a mobile Qb - you are not afraid of him running it in if you drop everyone into coverage.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Love Stafford but having a mobile QB can put the extra stress on a defense. Our edge defenders have to be extremely careful not to overrun or give the edge up to mobile QB’s so it takes a little of the steam off the edge. Stafford had opportunities to pick up yards but that’s simply not his game and a consideration for defenders against the Rams. They know where he’s going to be in the pocket and also know he’s not going to run. I suspect Maye will be able to get a lot of cheap yardage against the Seahawks if they don’t commit a defender outside of their front 4 to guard against the QB run which will take away a defender from coverage. Mobile QB’s have been the future for awhile. Stafford does so many things well but mobility isn’t his game.

If it it makes you feel any better JB Long was asked who he thought the Rams were going to draft early about a month ago, he said without hesitation a WR. Not sure what inside info he has but that was his immediate answer. Here are some names to consider.

I think Tate's been listed a bit high on different sites I've seen. I don't think he's better than Tyson or Lemon. So he's in play for the Rams I think, as is Boston.

When you ask what traits in a big wideout are best for the Rams, my answer is hands and contested ability. And of the wideouts that slot in the first few rounds my preference list is Boston > Lane. Also of those two I think it's pretty close. And I think both are close to Tate. There is not some big drop from Tate to the others, not to my eye.

Boston is more explosive than Tate. And he's better in contested catches.

Lane has freakishly good hands. Rare hands. And he is underrated in body control and ability to position to use those hands.

I really think Lane's gonna be a star in the NFL. But I'd take Boston first because I think he'd help us quicker.

Maybe wait until RD 2 for a guy like Lane or Fields. Might only get him if they trade back from 29 and get additional picks for a higher rd 2 pick. Then grab one of those big WRs.

Tyson might be there when they pick and he is a baller. His injury history is quite scary though missed 48% of his games. Usually injured in college is even more injured in the NFL. Lemon probably will be there and I believe he will be everything they hoped Tutu would be plus a special teams demon. He could very will be the 13th pick. Taking a WR at 13 is not necessarily my preference will depend on how the board falls, Les has not contacted me yet to get my input though. LOL!

I’ve seen Detroit call a qb draw in that situation and he can’t be much faster than Stafford. Also, the pass Ferg didn’t seem high enough and why not have Parkinson running that back line and just throw it up.
I thought the same thing. It's fourth down and the season is on the line. Stafford threw to Ferg en route right where the DB was. He should have just lofted it up to have the very athletic, 6'5" Ferg go up and get it. At least there was a chance instead of no chance at all.

I didn't realize he missed that many games. All I knew was every time I looked at his QB I was like "who the F is that WR?"

Thing about Lane is he's got catches nobody else makes. And I imagine him with Stafford feeding him in the redzone and 4 minute and it's glorious. :woozy2:

Which all brings us around to what the hell is going on with Tutu Atwell.

I hate to keep harping on this but I've never seen anything like this Atwell situation and I've been watching pro football since 1967.

They've done pretty well finding WRs in later rounds (Kupp = 3rd and Puka = 5th).
Whittington has promise. So does Mumpfield. And I think they'll keep using the 13 set, which means less WR usage.
This team needs defensive help in the D-backfield and LB (Landman came back to earth and Speights was middling).

That’s two players in 9 years together, and 14 for Snead. Thats not the greatest of statistics considering how many pass catchers they’ve drafted/signed. Maybe drafting one in the early rounds IS the way to go. You can draft a WR early and still draft a ton of D help. If Stafford is going to stick around, I want every skill position to be a weapon, not just a roll player

Disagree wholeheartedly

The front is supposed to be the strength of this team, they are a big part of why the secondary got exposed the way they did.
Agree, ergo, get someone who can rush the passer. Hard to believe they will keep Young when so many others on D will get new deals. That or a speed WR. Cooks was the last truly reliable speed WR.

Not seeing any burners on the first page.

Considering we paid Tu Tu 10 fucking million for 1 TD, the 3rd WR should have been Cooper Freaking Kupp.
He was willing to take less money and less of a role to stay I hear.
Can you imagine Having Puka, Adams, Kupp and Colby, Allen and 18 ?
Kupp would have caught the game winning TD for us rather than the Seahawks.
TuTu should have been a viable #3 for us. But he could not block and every time he was on the field the defenses had to know he was there to go deep, thats it.
