Throw out the current pre draft hype, draft round, pick position and value in this discussion. Also throw out Cam Ward who seems to be the consensus #1.
Strictly a scouting discussion of possible.

If you had to take a QB in this draft…

For the Rams in 2025, which QB do you think believe would be the best guy to get drafted here and sit behind Stafford for a year or two or three.

Also considering aspects like McVay being this young man’s HC, as well as being in LA.

I’m genuinely curious as to the opinions from everyone pre draft. I’m no scout. I really find it difficult to project QB’s. I do strongly feel that aside from the obvious (arm talent), I look for alpha competitors.

What do you guys look for?

Skills, intelligence, maturity, competitiveness, leadership, background, patience sitting behind a vet(?)

Thoughts?

Shedeur, he's got warts but is such a better QB than the others. If I have to take a guy, I'd take him if he falls and lean on the fact that that offense did absolutely nothing to help him out, you can fix his drifting back from the pocket, his arm strength is good enough and the Deion of it all and his own DNA rifle on the block attitude can be harnessed for good.

Guys got a lot of good things to work with talent and processing wise.

Wish he had a quicker delivery as that may be his downfall above all else.

Sanders would be worth trading up for!! He is getting discarded & is THE BEST QB in 2025 !!!

I could see The Rams trying to DART ahead of The Raiders though.
Don’t know what Carrol thinks ?? He is a CB guy.

You don’t have to trade up in this scenario/discussion. It’s like groceries. You have a shopping cart. Which QB besides Cam Ward is the one you want to develop behind Stafford…

Wait. Whomever the Rams pick is not an option? How about “Whoever makes the members on this board head explode?” Maybe someone with a drinking problem?

The thing I don't like about Milroe, even if he develops into a good QB, is that when you have his running ability you have to use it. And in a 17 game, soon to be 18 game season, the chances that he lasts the season, are not great. At best he misses a few games and returns, but still not ideal.

Give me a pocket QB that can run, but primarily throws from the pocket. That's why I prefer Dart.

I'm honestly in the camp of take Milroe and see what McVay, LaFleur and Stafford can do with him in the next 2 years.

Whomever they can get in round 4-7. Anyone they need to use round 1-3rd picks on is big a ‘no go’ for me.

Jalen Milroe - I’m not a big fan of any of the QBs in this draft so if the Rams are going to swing they should swing for the fences. I

It’s not like they’d be risking a top five draft pick to do it.

To be clear, I wouldn’t take anyone this year - we have far bigger needs, and the 2026 QB class looks much stronger.

However, the question says “if you had to”, so I went for Ewers. He has all the arm talent, but needs to refine his decision making. Give him a year or two to learn from Stafford (and, to a lesser extent, Jimmy G), and he could be an excellent starting QB.

I agree with this completely, from the focus on 2026 to the Ewers pick if it had to be one. I like his moxy and he's competitive. By all accounts is a good leader. He obviously needs to sit but I think he has a chance to develop into a high end no 2/decent spot starter. I don't see anyone in this draft that I am confident can progress into an elite QB (that's not to say one won't in the end).

At the end of the day it's a crapshoot. I was never convinced by Josh Allen as a prospect and clearly got that wrong. But I was sure that Trey Lance would bust. What do I know? When even the pros get it wrong as often as they do i always think it's funny how much conviction Internet amateurs have. And you never hear them go back and say they were wrong one way or another.

I genuinely hope the Rams do not spend a premium pick on a QB in 2025, and I don't think they will.

I think it would be a waste of resources. A developmental QB should get plenty of practice reps-- but Jimmy G is an expensive, established backup who needs practice reps so he can step in seamlessly if needed.

I'm expecting that Stafford will want to play for the Rams in 2026 (as his brief public comment about "hopefully beyond [2025]" has suggested).

So in 2026, I'd be all for the Rams drafting a young QB. But 2025 is a year too early IMO.

Agree - LAST SEASON to get a JARED VERSE was INCREDIBLE!!

That 2024 Draft was AMAZING,but do you believe The Rams might have drafted BO NIX if he was still on The Board ?? Bowers was the next pick,SO there’s that. The Rams were being filmed, but who knows there board for sure ? Denver did need a QB,and then R.Wilson signed with the Steelers.
Since I’m on a roll,I’ll just say Rogers(Steelers) are holding on for a similar case, just reversed IMO !

To think The Rams (Mcvay)wanted to draft Byron Murphy 11 before Jared Verse seemed CRAZY to me & wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it.

SO - IMO The RAMS learned from 2024 that 1 player can make such a HUGE impact. For some reason they are securing there roster a little more.

The worst time to look for a quarterback is when you need one.
Look at the Rams, they didnt "need" one when they signed Warner, or traded for Stafford, but did "need" one and ended up with Bradford. History is littered with success stories of guys drafted/signed/traded for when the team already had an established starter. And the list of "reach" qb's who flamed out is probably multiple times longer

Dart > McCord > Rourke is my preference order.
