I think if one watches this with open mind, they'll see how this kid could be right up McVay's alley

What makes me laugh about your stance is you act like he was the only issue with the team later in the year. The OL couldn't block a tackle dummy the WR's just disappeared and they never had a running game. But hey if it allows us to shit on the QB we can ignore all the things that went wrong with the rest of the team right?Early in the year I was singing his praises. Late in the year not so much.
Short windows of performance don't do it for me with the QB position. We'll see how he plays in the pros. If McVay drafts him, or Shanny or one of the other top offensive minds he'll have his best shot to be a starter. But Goff demonstrates McVay's high standards and this kid's not there to my eye.
Good point on the risk. The lack of starts would make him a MAJOR outlier if he succeeds. Add to it the lack of size and potential ability to last a 20 game NFL season. I’d feel better about these things if he had better size (or if picked outside 1st round) - but those things are not happening.
Weird so many have Tyson as such a risk pick; but Simpson seemingly is not. I don’t understand how that’s reconciled.
Who's shitting on the QB. I'm saying he's not a guy I'd take first round. I said I'd get behind it if we take him. I said he's most likely a backup but has a chance to start. I question his one fucking year of starting in college, with the latter portion of those games where he came up short being some glorious example of QBing. What makes me laugh about your stance is you act like he was the only issue with the team later in the year. The OL couldn't block a tackle dummy the WR's just disappeared and they never had a running game. Did you see his injury history that was posted a week or two ago. It was horrible. Even Warner was worried about it when discussing Simpson. When did he not take hits and how has he been injury prone? His shitty OL that got him beat up vs Indiana is the only time that I've ever seen him get hurt and he tried to play through it.

This was my post from October 25.One of my (very unscientific) rules of scouting is whether or not I literally say the word "wow" while watching highlights.
Those clips of Simpson staying steady and throwing darts right before the pocket collapses around him... got a "wow" out of me.
Tons of potential from this guy
This was my post from October 25.
Simpson with the "wow" factor.
Sorsby would have been my guy, but it looks like that ship sailed when the Simpson pick docked.Don't forget Sorsby (Cincinnati, now Texas Tech), Chambliss (Ole Miss), and Mensah (Duke, now Miami). Both Sorsby and Chambliss were thought of in circles as potential first-round picks, and Mensah was highly regarded as well.
Obviously, not everyone is going to go in the first round, but there's a lot more talent in 2027 than 2026, and with Simpson's injury history and other warts, I'm not so sure I'd take him over Moore, Sellers, Sorsby, Mensah, Maiava (if he has another good year at Southern Cal), or Chambliss. Then there's guys like Mateer (Oklahoma), Leavitt (Louisiana State), Mestemaker (Oklahoma State), possibly Dylan Raiola (Oregon, probably won't go into the draft and be Moore's successor...but stranger things have happened), possibly C.J. Carr (Notre Dame), Julian Sayin (Ohio State), D.J. Lagway (Florida) - and that's not even mentioning the fact that another quarterback could surprise us like Simpson did.
I've never been a fan of Allar, Klubnik, and especially Beck. Nussmeier fell off hard as well. The only guys I'd come close to drafting to where they're projected are Payton and Green - and even then, I'd rather go for Stafford's successor in 2027 where there's a lot more to choose from.
