McShay bugs the fuck out of me. Dude does so much rambling and dissembling he's hard to listen to. Also I don't like Beck at all. He's not in the class of Mateer. McShay watches a ton of film, I'll give him that. But I just don't think he's got a good eye.
He's the master of saying enough word salad about a QB so he can go back and "be right", whether the player sucks or not.
Carson Beck is like a poor man's Joe Flacco. Slightly more athletic, less arm strength

Precisely. Bennett has some of those things, the arrogance in the pocket for example, and represented a cheap backup possibility, but his year off threw a wrench in shit.

Bottom line though... What McVay is going to prioritize this next QB they draft will be a QB with the basic skills he requires. So I think it is likely to be a QB who is a late first round type slotting, after the freak athletes or perceived bluechips are off the board.
Along the lines of your intangibles list, I just get the feeling that Mateer would have been McVay's type of guy.

No doubt. And him losing time and possibly draft value due to the injury may put him in that range where McVay can get him. If he declares of course.

This should be Stafford’s last year. He didn’t make enough plays yesterday all the other issues aside. He’s a huge cap hit and is always banged up. His total lack of athleticism hurts us too.
It’s too early for me to take such a drastic position.
Should he continue to have more games like this…then I might be inclined to consider.

In ‘21 he had a real lousy streak. I was frustrated, but not ready to give up on him. I was just concerned that he MIGHT be past being a top QB, yet hoping he was just in a funk. I just didn’t see him playing so well for several games and then just falling off of a cliff. This eagles game was different to me. He flat out played poorly. Not only did he miss a couple easy throws, but he wasn’t looking at other receivers who were open or better options. IOW, poor decisions and vision. He knows better, he just didn’t do it.

They didnt draft him with the intention that he wouldnt be the eventual #1 either
The team is built with low-mid round picks who ascended to starter, no reason QB wouldnt be the same
Actually, they did. If I recall the post-draft interviews correctly, he was drafted to be a potential long-term cheap backup.

And Snead was the guy that targeted him, though I'm sure McVay had to sign off.

TCU's Josh Hoover looks impressive. He is getting some draft buzz as a guy who is moving up the draft boards. 6-2, 200 lb redshirt JR.
I posted about this guy too - but in the 2026 draft page. He looks good. Moves well. Decent size.

The college prospects are interesting.. but no one who screams "number one" to me.
There seems to be a decent number of real prospects, though.

I'm wondering if it will work out that the Rams will be able to select a guy they believe in without trading up... AND Stafford will be back one more year.

I’m going to continually pound the table for Fernando Mendoza until he’s a Ram.

It would have been a windfall to have Dart behind Stafford. That is what we are looking for. The QB who gets a bit overnuked and is underappreciated. Then position for him, or someone will jump in front of us again.

Sounds crazy but none. Trade one of those 1st rounders for another 2027 1st rounder and grab Dylan Raiola. Draft OT and CB in 2026.
