My whole point with Stafford and others who've done the same thing is there's no possible way you, I or anybody else on this board or others know that for sure. Absolutely money can make you put up with another year of beating. But like with guys like AD they can also walk away from it when they feel it's done.

The worst thing we can do IMO is to project our thoughts, feelings and motives on to others especially millionaire athletes who like with Stafford have taking a literal beating for close to two decades.

Totally true. Im only speculating. I could be exactly right, completely wrong, or somewhere in the middle.

My gut tells me he plays another 3 to 5. If he retired after this year, i can totally see it though.

As I often say I have been wrong before I will be wrong again but it won't stop me from speaking what I think :D

My gut tells me he's taken a beating for years and an MVP and a 2nd Lombardi cements his legacy and he rides of into the sunset as the best and goes to be a dad and husband and make even more money in media or TV.

IMO there is no wrong answer to this debate.

Yep. Theres no wrong answer at this point. I’m just hoping the Rams have that right answer before the draft.

(If) the Rams win it all, I hope Stafford would return to try and run in back. Keep in mind the Rams next season draft capital. That could set up another serious run.

That said, let's win it all this year first!

If you go back through this thread I’ve been dousing massive amounts of cold water on the idea of Arch Manning as a 2026 prospect. While I still think that, I will say that if he gets another 13-15 SEC starts under his belt, he will be back at the top of everyone’s draft board. He’s got all the tools. Just about experience and putting it together.

McVay and Snead definitely need to sit down with #9 at the end of the season to find out his plans for the future and adjust their draft strategy accordingly.

I could see him riding off into the sunset if we win it all. But after a season like this where he is playing the best ball of his career and has upped it to another level even optimistic Rams fans didn't expect, he might decide he wants to keep playing ball for a while longer. Ideally, if we draft a QB, I'd like him to sit behind Stafford for a year of seasoning before he takes the reins.

This hasn't been an easy season for Arch. But he did notch wins over Oklahoma and Texas A&M, the latter being all the more impressive in that it was their resumption of a rivalry that ended in 2011 and the fact that A&M was unbeaten and ranked #3 in the country coming in. That's nothing to sneeze at.

Give the guy another year and who knows, he might live up to his name/pedigree.

Yeah, I don't know if the Rams will draft a QB. They may go for a veteran, although I don't know who that could be. I guess it will depend on whether McSnead feels they can win it all with that QB. Getting an NFL contending QB in the draft is often a crap shoot. which is why getting Stafford was a brilliant move. I hope Stafford stays for a few more years.

Then the Rams could trade down and get future draft capital. Although I hope the draft capital is to "run it back".

Also while it's on my mind... IF the Rams win it all this year with Stafford I think there's a strong chance he sails off into the sunset knowing the Hall is assured. Because he's a family man, and it would be an opportunity to go out on top knowing your long career is capped properly.

So then what would the Rams do hypothetically speaking.

I suspect they may make a play for that top pick, or failing that one of the others in the top 3.

Arch did have his best game and the kid sure can run. My issue with Arch Manning is the way he throws the football and I need others to watch him throw. It does not look right, it's more of a sling shot and his arm angle and footwork seem to be off.

Might have to defer to others who look at that more closely like @Memphis Ram @jrry32 & @OldSchool to post a few, however, the arm slot seems not to be right and might be the reason for his inconsistency. I know I am more of an OL guy, but that throwing motion seems to be inconsistent and not proper, if there is such a thing.

Not a fan of the throwing motion either, but I like his wheels.

I see him sometimes and wonder wth he's doing. Is it trying to get cute with throwing angles and he just does it when he doesn't need to? I don't know much about the coaches there other than Sark but is he getting good QB coaching? We see the arm and mobility are there I just wonder if it's bad mechanics from trying to push it too much. Can't think of anything else because you know he wasn't taught that by family.

The smile on Stafford's face, the over the top fun he is having right now makes me think he just might ride it out for awhile on the Rams.
Do the "Brady" thing..
Do it Mr. Stafford. Let Rams know it early and hold them to getting the stud OT we all know is needed and another receiver.
I have never seen anything like the total command of a offense that Matthew is showing us right now. Even the Warner years. Stafford has more talent than Kurt ever had.
Lets ride this thing out. Worry about the next QB in a couple of years.
This is fun.

AD sure had a lot of fun during his last game and season though too.

Quarterbacks retiring after their age 37 season (Matt's) is so old school. Think Bradshaw, Stabler, Tarkenton, these guys took a beating!

Even guys that came later, Montana, Young, Aikman, these guys had to retire because even in the NINETIES Quarterbacks STILL took beatings.

This is the new day and age, where Quarterbacks like Brady, Rodgers and the Mannings play up to, and INTO their 40's, and play WELL!

If you'd have told Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers (Stafford’s Contemporaries) they'd quit after their age 37 season their heads would explode.

Dont you guys KNOW that extra level of QB intelligence that QB's pick up at Matt's age? If they are lucky to make it through the gauntlet of the NFL their whole careers there is another level of intellect they pick up in their late 30's. Hence, the no-look passes. Stafford is better now than he was when he first came to us in 21, IMHO. Because the position is as much cerebral as physical.

Put Matt down for at least 3-5 more Ram years.

Edit: at least is the wrong term for 3-5 years. Should have said at least for 2 years.

Regardless of whether you may think Stafford is in it for the next few years for sure, or not, it is an interesting thought experiment to consider "what would the Rams do if he wins a title and sails off into the sunset."

Two first round picks. So they could package a lot of picks to move way up, or to chase a veteran starter they like with another team. Have to think they'd exhaust both possibilities, so they'd look at the vet options first.

Re: Burrow it seems unlikely due to the contract. But if Cincy were to get good draft value for him in trade maybe they'd sit down and try to work it out. Not a huge fan of Burrow, granted. But he's a legit QB and McVay would probably maximize him in this offense.

I still prefer a jump to 1 overall though, in that scenario. Take Mendoza, keep it balanced on the call sheet, and don't look back.
