It's so sad that most of these guys have to learn how to take snaps from center, call plays in the huddle, and the like....
I'm extremely hopeful that there is a McVay QB advantage like the Shanahan has with these young guys.
Maiava is definitely under the radar. I mentioned him last month:
Could see him making a play for the #1 pick because of the tools and his steady play this year. Plus, Lincoln Riley's QBs have done well in the NFL. That said, if he doesn't shoot up draft boards, he's definitely somebody we should investigate closely.

I guess I want to watch these QBs a bit more before I figure out how I feel about any of them sitting for a year.
Not so sure about this. I've disagreed with this narrative before.
Hurts was a Saban QB for 3 years before that one season under Riley and he's still not considered a great passer.
Baker Mayfield had years of subpar performance in the NFL before becoming what he is today.
Kyler Murray? Obviously, Riley couldn't teach him work ethic.
Caleb? Too soon to tell.

I don't think it happens, due to West Coast and SC garnering a negative national bias. Caleb was already all the rage before going to SC.
Maiava is just starting to get some props. I received pretty negative replies when mentioning him as a highly improved player and potential target early in the season.
I think 3-5 is the highest he could possibly go of the QB prospects
This is Riley's 9th year as a HC. He has coached 5 NFL starters (4 of whom are currently starting), 3 #1 overall picks, and 3 Pro Bowlers. Baker Mayfield is a top 10 QB. Jalen Hurts has been a top 10 QB at points in his career. Kyler has been an average to above average starter. Caleb is still a question mark, but he's looked promising this year. Those results from a guy who hasn't even been coaching a decade are insane.

Can't imagine he comes out unless he looks at 27' as being potentially loaded at QB so he comes out now in a weaker class.
I like Maiava as a development guy - but not in the 1st round. He benefits a lot from his receivers. Throws the ball up and let them go get it. Still, he has some good traits and potential.
Several guys fall that way for me. I like them in 2-3rd rounds - and we keep those top two picks to get elite guys elsewhere. Sellers, Nussmer, Mateer, etc.

Starting to think one of these guys who do decide to come out, and who we have been speculating about being a top 10 pick, could easily be there for our 2nd pick or at least within striking distance with a small trade up to 22-24 range.
